Ned, your parent's house looks like a Filipino home the way it's decorated. Air is bad only in Philippine cities but when you are in the countryside just a few miles away it's actually really nice.
Thank's Ned I am so looking forward to seeing you and Michell back home and doing your thing again, I'm only 5 short years away from joining you there as an expat myself the Asawa and I will be paying you all a visit within the next year thanks for blazing the trail for the rest of us man.
it didn't take long.. that "Bah-ston" accent came right back. :) i'll be in SoCal next week, probably come home to a hot dish of home-made enchiladas. i anticipate gaining some weight as well. Glad to see you made it back to the PH safely!
I left the Philippines to live in Cambodia. Great move. Funny thing is we have clean air, fast internet, good Pizza and good roads in this part of the country. The shopping is very limited but you can't have everything!
Metal Guru Interesting. I have heard good things about Sihanoukville. I will visit it. However, it must be more difficult to interact with Cambodians as most of them don't speak English outside of the tourist area. And I wonder if the women are as beautiful as Filipinas. Richard
That's a beautiful home.... every place has it's pluses and minuses, but we need to match the place to our needs... enjoy your videos and look forward to the videos from your "new" home....thanks
Hi Ned and thanks for the video,it's me when I'm in the Philippines lol.On my first trip to the Philippines, when I arrived back in Canada I realized how great I have it.Dont get me wrong I love the Philippines and my beautiful girlfriend.I really don't complain too much about anything in Canada anymore and happy to have so many things in my life.Yes Ned Pizza is not the same in the Philippines and I love my pizza,Take Care and say hi to Michelle for me.
Umberto's in the N. End has great pizza but you gotta wait in line, even if you called ahead. Always a possibility of a parking ticket, too. Santarpio's, I just go in the kitchen, side door. Pretty much park anywhere..
One thing Ned. The longer you live outside the US, the more impossible it becomes to readjust should you have to return. Also, it is changing up there, not for the better, every year. As I said I've been living in Mexico for 27 months now but have lived a total of 8 year outside America in different countries.
I already know the thing u miss about the Philippines that makes it 8 things instead of 7..........but it is first on your list of course.............MICHELLE
I'm Pinoy living here in LA,the traffic here is terrible..the diesel smoke from the public buses( same in PI) trash scattered all over in skid row area...about safety ..I'm feel safer in PI than here.
but come on Ned you love the Philippines more I know I do im still stuck hear in Australia so cold winter is hear now I love to be in the heat my bones are aching a lot now glad you back on now we did miss you and Michelle
no it only gets down to 1c or 2c sometimes in land in Australia it get below freezing we dont have snow hear in Adelaide but over in Victoria and New South wales they have it out highest point Mount Lofty has snow but it melts straight away but in winter in May June and July its coldest i get two Quilts on hear now it bloody hot was 36c other day that is 100f ok thanks
I love visiting the Philippines...will be there in June....but would never live there permanently. Just my own preference but love the culture and the people. Of course I have a place in the mountains in Montana on the river that is peace and tranquility...then I go to Manila..haha...
which area in the Philippines are you living? and with what is going on lately does everytime still seem pretty safe? when I go I usually visit family in Bulacan and oriental mindoro near Gloria.
The parents conversation from a year and a half ago would be an interesting topic..."what do you mean you met a cute girl online and are moving to the Philippines, Neddy? Have you lost your mind?"
clean air? I can remember when I was a kid back in the early 60s burning our trash was the norm for everyone! Great video topic bro..America is a great country "easy living" country life style to live in! yet also when ya think about it wasn`t very long ago the USA had its similarities to the philippines 3 rd world country life style living experiences etc etc
Exactly! Polluted air was everywhere here in the US before the Clean Air Act and other environmental laws were enacted. It's actually even worse than the Philippines I'd say. At least in the Philippines it's mostly concentrated in major cities unlike what was here in the US before.
Ronnie Rodrigue So jealous.... But when our 3 MB is working right (steady signal), the internet is actually pretty good. It's not always steady though.....
HI Ned, Recently retired Boston Teacher thinking of visiting Philippines. Would also like to see Historic sights in the Pacific . Thanks for your videos .... BTW - The pizza place in the North End may be 'Reginas' .
Boston Jack Hey brutha! Reginas is good - I like Santarpios in East Boston better, though. Since your a homey, send me your email to myphilippinedreams@gmail.com and I will send you a free copy of our book.
Philippine Dreams Thanks Amigo ! My email is coldstream1955@hotmail.com Yes, Santarpios has Great Pizza - as I recall Olympic Hockey star Mike Eruzione's Dad worked as a waiter there. Although I know more about the Dorchester- side of Boston .Best Regards, Jack
+Aprille Shepherd imagine, i come from the south of Italy where pizza actually comes from LOL. shakeys? thats high class, have you tried the pizza done with eden cheese there? anyway its ok, just laughing about it
Where in the Philippines did you live and where in the United States do you live? Those are some pretty bad generalizations since both countries have both of what you describe. Florida's weather is the same as the Philippines. Never been to Los Angeles, have you? Try inhaling the air over there. Also, try Greenwich pizza in the Philippines. Shakey's (they also have the it in the U.S.) Maybe you need to move to a city like Makati, Ortigas, BGC, Newport, Eastwood, Alabang. Ever been to Baguio or Tagaytay? The air over there is nice and Tagaytay is literally a couple of hours away from Metro Manila. Get around some more (in both countries) and then, make your comparisons.
Sir Joe. I deleted my wise ass response to your post and apologize for it. Your 'asshole' response was also deleted but was deserved. I try to show my honest impressions of my time in the Philippines and I was out of line in putting your honest opinion of my opinion down in a shwarmy manner. Your opinion matters as does mine so lets leave it at that. :)
While in the US I had downstairs neighbours BBQ in their balcony and the heavy smoked used to go into my eyes in my bedroom making me sick. People were making bon fires in their yards on the East Coast of the USofA burning tyres, rubbish etc. and all that was making me sick as well. That is a First World country you're talking about. So stop insulting other countries before you take a look at your own one real close. If you think US is a 1st wld. ctry then you should be comparing it with a partner of the same weight category, such as Canada, Australia, Germany, Japan, etc. Again, you are comparing apples with a wood stove. Florida is not the entire US and you are comparing WINTER in Florida to year round climate of the tropical Phils. Not even that, you are comparing 2 weeks of good weather in Florida to general climate in the Phils.
+Philippine Dreams Instead of discussing with an argument, you just take a shortcut and attempt to insult. You should name your "website" "Yank in the Phils", perhaps people will donate more by feeling sorry for you... "Help Support the Dream Team! If you think that this site has been of help to you, please consider donating towards our ongoing operating expenses." yankinthephils.com/ - everyone pay a visit to this doc... He's got a prescription for you... :-)
+Tom Aud lol. I understand where you stand. Yea a lot of people say and compare this and that when in fact their comparing two much different things. Anyways, it was just his OWN OPINIONS and not the entire U.S.population. And I guess he would not miss much if he stays in the urban Manila. Malls and shopping centers there are incomparable to the much smaller/ almost always just two stories high malls in the U.S
raleighman3000 I agree with you. USA is overregulated. I did not report the neighbours, but when they did the majour BBQ thing and it got my apt. full of smoke I went into a panic mode and thought their apt. went on fire and called the FD. The FD came and found no offence in my apt. just a lingerinbg smell of smoke and told me that will be a $5000 charge, but then they went again to the downstairs and found lingering BBQ in the balcony and told me I was fine :-) no need to pay the life changing charge of calling the FD. Yes, USA is First World, and I was very happy to move to a more of a Second World place. I do appreciate Second World countries ever since. Best of both worlds: not so expensive and way more freedom and much more safe than in the USA, that is for sure. You could only guess what country that is. Regarding Western Europe, all they have to brag is their beautiful architecture and double the salaries, otherwise Eastern Europe beats them by far.
Ned, your parent's house looks like a Filipino home the way it's decorated.
Air is bad only in Philippine cities but when you are in the countryside just a few miles away it's actually really nice.

Thank you for such an honest and well though out review. God bless you.
Family and the clean air for sure!
I left the Philippines to live in Cambodia. Great move. Funny thing is we have clean air, fast internet, good Pizza and good roads in this part of the country. The shopping is very limited but you can't have everything!
Metal Guru And where do you live in Cambodia?
Richard
Mikhail Bulgakov Sihanouk Province 136 Klm of fantastic undeveloped coastline
***** Have you been to Cambodia?
Metal Guru Interesting. I have heard good things about Sihanoukville. I will visit it. However, it must be more difficult to interact with Cambodians as most of them don't speak English outside of the tourist area. And I wonder if the women are as beautiful as Filipinas.
Richard
Mikhail Bulgakov Yeah, the language issue is a problem for me. Some people love Cambodia, though.
Honest, straight forward. As always, liked it alot!!! Happy your living your Dream...:-)
God Bless America!
Ned glad you had a good trip.
That's a beautiful home.... every place has it's pluses and minuses, but we need to match the place to our needs... enjoy your videos and look forward to the videos from your "new" home....thanks
stitchergary It is a nice home. And completely climate controlled as well. :)
You make good videos with good content. Keep them coming.
Good video, I thought the exact same things ever trip from the Philippines.
All great things to miss... but with that said I'm looking forward to your next video of things you don't miss about the U.S.
Umberto's in the N. End has great pizza but you gotta wait in line, even if you called ahead. Always a possibility of a parking ticket, too. Santarpio's, I just go in the kitchen, side door. Pretty much park anywhere..

jim nichols you are teasing, Ned,,,i ant to hear Nef say it too
The place in the North End is probably Pizzeria Regina, great pizza. Santarpios is good to. Thanks for the video.
Streets in the U.S. are clean due to regular street cleaning using street sweepers.
I'm Pinoy living here in LA,the traffic here is terrible..the diesel smoke from the public buses( same in PI) trash scattered all over in skid row area...about safety ..I'm feel safer in PI than here.
Joel Bernal I prefer not to live in skid row, but I see your point, Joel. Thanks.
well said, nice video, thanks for sharing it was very informative....
myrna mangsat Thanks for all the positive feedback, Myrna. Much appreciated.

Ned, comparing the US to Phils, is like comparing a Lexus to a Suzuki multi cab, lol
which area in the Philippines are you living?
and with what is going on lately does everytime still seem pretty safe? when I go I usually visit family in Bulacan and oriental mindoro near Gloria.
looks nice there. in the videos
the secret to good tasting pizza is the water used to make the dough.
angel santana And good cheese!
The parents conversation from a year and a half ago would be an interesting topic..."what do you mean you met a cute girl online and are moving to the Philippines, Neddy? Have you lost your mind?"
Crunch I was going before I even met her. She was icing on the Philippine Dreams cake.
clean air? I can remember when I was a kid back in the early 60s burning our trash was the norm for everyone!

ned cound not understand what is the name of the box you shipping with?
larry morris Sending a balikbayan box back to the Philippines
that the infrastructure is better in the U.S. is a given, like so many other things.
O-kay.
You won't spend time with your mother on Mother's day on Sunday?
I miss beef. I miss being able to go to the grocery store and get a big 'ol ribeye steak and grill it at home. The beef in the PI is just terrible.
Los Angeles has the cleanest air in the world! lol!
Of all drawbacks, you mentioned about Philippines , I think the bad Internet quality are the most alarming :-) Is it even possible to buy 10/10?
internet and food are what I would miss
jimcunningham61 Yep yep!
Air conditioning? I figured that would be pretty high on the list.
ned you got google there yet? its super fast here
Ronnie Rodrigue So jealous.... But when our 3 MB is working right (steady signal), the internet is actually pretty good. It's not always steady though.....
i wonder if they could fix it there?
Hi, N-to-E-to-the-D, lol, does mom and dad watch your videos? Thanks ☺
Come here in California so you can see traffic.
Alvin b No thanks! The issue here is when heavy traffic is mixed with ..... errrr.... unpredictable driving - it gets a bit challenging.
am I the only one who still says Tar get instead of Tarshay?
Lucas Musser lol - tar ZHAY and also Wally World = Walmart :)
Lucas Musser Yes, you are just not high society like the rest of us! Though I'm pretty sure it started as a joke...
Frank Richmond ya man that's a joke on my part but seriously I do still call it target..
I do, too, actually--especially when I'm around people who have no clue why you would pronounce it the other way.

lsk464 That could be the problem as well.... :(
I'm going to be honest, you totally lost me when your favorite pizza didn't include anything from Chicago or Brooklyn. lol ;-)
New York pizza is very good as well. Don't know about Chicago as I have never been there.

larry morris Yeah, my dad reminded me of that after my brain fart.... Thanks!
