I am SO HAPPY that the OSP is the carrier faction. As an OSP player I've always felt that the OSP just had one thing missing to truly be a competitor to the Alliance. Playing 1v1s against my friend who mostly plays Alliance I was pretty much always losing when I played at my best, and utterly curbstomped at my worst. I think that carriers and spacecraft will change ALL OF that. It still keeps the OSP's signature "You have to play weird to win" playstyle that attracted me in the first place, but it gives them a good chance while not unbalancing the fights. Also, I am 100% biased as someone who is obsessed with IRL modern carrier operations
Hey, glad you didn't let all the flak over the cancellation of conquest get you down! The game has a great core concept and mechanics and I'm excited to see where this goes, both SP and MP. And these carriers are so cool!
This makes my already spacecraft design obsessed brain go 'well here's how you could triple the measurements of that carrier and make it still look good. All these craft look incredible, particularly both types of bomber. The formations as well are so satisfying to watch reorient in this 3D environment. Kind of funny to think about some absurd supercarrier, where micro hell would just be unavoidable. You'd need multiple players managing just this one ship, in return for what probably feels like fighting a wasp swarm for your opponents.

I would have liked a few lines about the new glide bombs, why would I use them over missiles or torpedoes, do defenses engage with them differently, etc. But other than that tiny gripe this is everything I didn't know I wanted from this update and you and your team have come through in spades. A bit of speculation, this does seem like it would have blended super well with the conquest mode and I'm interested how you're going to make a carrier strike group feel like it's giving all it can in an operation level game mode, but again, for the game mode we have available, this looks like it's going to do very well. You have my discord excited about this game again.
From the bit of footage near the end where they actually got used, I'd wager bombs are supposed to be high risk/high reward or coup de grace weapon. They'll only move as fast as the craft that deployed them was going, so to get an accurate drop craft will have to get in close where they can be shot at by any functional PD system, but any bombs that manage to hit will deliver a whole lot of explosive power on target for their size and, almost certainly, cost.
From the discord, the kenetic bombs do 100 damage rays like the mines do, this means they can destroy components traditional missiles cannot (who do 50 damage per ray). This puts them in position to be strong finishers and devistate larger ships who nominally get their tankyness through DT interactions that these rays shatter.
I really like how the OSP fighters look like they were welded together yesterday; it contrasts really well with the real life plane aesthetics of the Alliance fighters
If they make us able to name the individual craft, there's gonna be a couple people naming the Sundial stuff like "Galaxy", "SkyEye", "Ghost Eye", "Long Caster", "Bandog", etc

Super excited! It kinda makes sense that the first carrier in the video has all of its launch pads on the top, because as you mentioned in the last video, the fighters it launches were designed to be able to fly in an atmosphere as well, so the carrier also follows that doctrine!

Wow those strike craft systems are all so cool. Very 80's vibes, Tomcat strike squadron style. But also modern and real space age, like the whole game. Those designs have the chance to be super iconic, like the Homeworld strike craft are instantly recognizable. Speaking of which, my favorite strike craft of all time is the Taiidan Interceptor, with the offset cannon to one side, and the bombers with plasma cannons. So, how about an OSP unique bomber pod that can drop plasma ampules on their targets?

The Claymore looks great, very reminiscent of the FLEA from the old TTA series art books by Stewart Cowley/Chriss Foss. Then the Protectorate strike fighter is the Barracuda... I feel like you may have good taste in science-fiction art and literature. Having the RCS in the geometry is so neat, I get the readability though. Very exciting stuff!
I'm looking forward to having a light cruiser with one launch bay that has utility craft. It'll be like the old aircraft catapults they used to put on cruisers and battleships.

I really like what I'm seeing. Great to hear the OSP will have a leg up in this. Here are a couple more thoughts that came to me while watching. Gold-tinted windows on strike crafts ftw! Please do look into that idea. Gold foil on engine nozzles might also look really cool btw. The mini-thrusters look really good as a geometry feature imo. Unless the decals are very convincing, I'd love to see the geometries stick around. I'm a huge fan of these small details. The asymmetry of the carrier looks awesome. The textures on it are okay but regarding details they fall behind the other hulls imo. A few more warning labels, mock docking/fuel ports, hatches and that kind of thing should really improve the look. The belly in particular looks kinda naked. Thematically, it could be good spot for mock docking equipment, cranes, etc. Anyway, love these updates and I'm really looking forward to what's coming. Cheers o/

How are small craft repairs handled? Realistically it seems that you could only do limited repairs in the field during a battle, but what extent is okay? Being able to restore all hp to a damaged craft, given the themes and feel established, would seem kinda off.
I would imagine they'd be handled the same as ship modules currently are: they can only be repaired to 10% above the lowest health they were damaged to. IE, if a fighter lands with 50% damage, it will never be able to repair above 60% health for the rest of the game.
Would you consider giving fighters different radar signatures based on loadout? It'd be kind of interesting to see minimal loadout ANS fighters sneaking around the map for surprise attacks
Making the OSP the carrier faction has basically made me their main. I like using the little guys. From infantry in combined arms games, to fighters in capital class battles
Can we get some info about how warship PD will interact with spacecraft? Specifically, I'm curious about whether sarissas will snipe bombers out of the sky, and if/when ships decide to launch PD missiles at spacecraft.
We can see high-fire rate PD guns (probably Defenders?) engaging fighters in this video, and the video explicitly states size-1 missiles will be used specifically for dogfighting other fighters, so it would appear that any system that can engage missiles will engage fighters.
7:15 I think the Geometry embedded thruster’s problem can be solved by taking a look at the American Space shuttle (ie, painting these thrusters are areas around them black)

Considering my favorite thing to do is use missile ships from the back line to support my teammates, this update is going to be awesome!

Yeah a non-binding "I need to return" fuel limit is the best way to gamify it while keeping it grounded for sure. Very welcomed direction to take it.

I think it would very interesting if stations in game modes that have them had the station act as stationary carriers.

How are small craft repairs handled? Realistically it seems that you could only do limited repairs in the field during a battle, but what extent is okay? Being able to restore all hp to a damaged craft, given the themes and feel established, would seem kinda off.
I would imagine they'd be handled the same as ship modules currently are: they can only be repaired to 10% above the lowest health they were damaged to. IE, if a fighter lands with 50% damage, it will never be able to repair above 60% health for the rest of the game.

Would you consider giving fighters different radar signatures based on loadout? It'd be kind of interesting to see minimal loadout ANS fighters sneaking around the map for surprise attacks

Making the OSP the carrier faction has basically made me their main. I like using the little guys. From infantry in combined arms games, to fighters in capital class battles

Can we get some info about how warship PD will interact with spacecraft? Specifically, I'm curious about whether sarissas will snipe bombers out of the sky, and if/when ships decide to launch PD missiles at spacecraft.
We can see high-fire rate PD guns (probably Defenders?) engaging fighters in this video, and the video explicitly states size-1 missiles will be used specifically for dogfighting other fighters, so it would appear that any system that can engage missiles will engage fighters.

7:15 I think the Geometry embedded thruster’s problem can be solved by taking a look at the American Space shuttle (ie, painting these thrusters are areas around them black)
I think you should leave the Flight Counter UI element up, just so people have easy knowledge of what they have out and what they have in reserve.
