When Billy starts digging up an unknown void in the walls does anyone else hope he finds a treasure chest filled with gold to help pay for the convent remodeling?
I am so glad to see you are wearing protective gear! My husband died recently from COPD. Caring for someone who’s lungs are so damaged that they no longer work on their own, gives you a realization of how important it is to protect them.
Lost my mother to COPD. She had damaged lungs after repeated bouts of pneumonia. My brother also suffered with COPD. he was a rough/finish carpenter/contractor. We believe he damaged his lungs because he did not properly protect them. Sawdust, dust cement and sand can get into lungs when one forgets to mask. He was able to get a double lung transplant.
I truly appreciate Simon reusing the insulation. The convent gets a facelift to recover the beauty it deserves and Simon provides new life to his home. Everybody benefits.
Only the Petherick crew can make hard work look so fun that the audience feels like they are missing out on a good time - and Alex films and presents your hard work as though it’s a party! Well done all - thank you for sharing this amazing journey with us!
We received our print from the organ restoration. It is beautiful. Michael is so talented. The print will hang in my office and will be a reminder of all of you who made the restoration happen. My husband and I enjoyed watching the progress. What a talented group.

The gallery needs to be wheelchair wide for access for the disabled that would enjoy the art gallery too. Lots done today Billy. Also Simon I loved hearing about how nails were handmade. It’s been so fun hearing all the bits and bobs of this old building. Wishing your parents a nice time away together and safe travels too. ❤❤❤
Access for the disabled isn’t possible until the decision is made to fix the elevator. As of now, this building is not accessible to those who can’t walk, Which is really, really unfortunate for them. It’s not fair.
@@nickandlaurihyde I am sure that Billy will eventually get the elevated up to code or whatever will be required. I do have faith in his ability to do what is required in all aspects of this huge project.
Since you started your channel I have watched every episode and I’m still hooked. There has never been a video less than brilliant. I don’t know what the formula is, but you’ve got it right 😀
May I compliment the Elder Mr. Petherick! It is a pleasure to watch you work alongside of your family and the others. Wishing you good health for a long time into the future.
Gosh, you guys have truly come on in leaps and bounds. Watching you demolish walls and think about ceilings reminds me of our (in a much smaller way) place and how many tons of "insulation" we had to remove. You are an excellent presenter Billy. So interesting and inspirational to watch! Best of luck from us both.
Working for Billy is a little like deer hunting. The yellow vests let you know where everyone is. That way a wall or roof won’t be pulled down upon you. 😄 Papa Petherick standing up with the boys! 👏🏼👏🏼
If I'm not mistaken, that chimney is precisely where the missing "cupola" was on that aerial photo of the convent. Also, I seem to recall when you were up in the small attic above the third floor, that there looked to be some stone feature right there.
Lol, yannis is like your very own wreck it Ralph, he gets right stuck in. You are all doing an amazing job and we can now see Billy’s library vision emerging from the dust and rubble 🤗💕🤗💕
I can't even imagine the costs involved in this project. I would think just looking at the invoices takes courage . I hope RUclips in someway is helping pay for it, even a slight bit. The project is a beautiful dream and I really hope it becomes a reality.
Billy you are amazing all the planning that you do all the other guys rely entirely on you Without your ability to organize this renovation wouldn't happen I am in awe 🎉😮
I know nothing about engineering but I wondered if the void could have been used for the weights and chains in a weighted winch system? I remember you said that there used to be a winch in the attic... I agree with others that it looks too clean to have been a chimney. Our cottage is from 1750 ish and it was covered inside with what looked like thick tar several inches thick from years of open fires.
I am thoroughly impressed with the level of order and "environmental protection source-separation" skills you guys possess! Actually, the levels of "epss" France as a country possess is amazing also!! So reassuring! It fills my heart with Hope for a cleaner future 🥰
So many positives to say!! First, your father is a treasure, I think I can tell that he is so happy to be included but definitely deserve a little time off!! Next, what a great team you have to help you!! Simon and his knowledge is a gem!! His input has definitely made things easier and finding hidden gems, like the fireplace/chimney is just so exciting!! I wonder what else you will find!! There’s got to be so many more!! Just please, don’t touch the writing on that one wall!! That’s priceless!!
Billy, I wonder if you've considered extending the sides of the dump bed on your truck. I had a similar situation where I added plywood sides and screwed wood at the bottom that slid over the aluminum sides of the bed. It tripled the capacity of my bed and reduced the number of tripe to the dump. They can be temporary.
I am waiting still to see if you find all the treasure...but no not yet just a fireplace, You are all well and truly geared up properly for working on a building site, health and safety. Now I can see your vision of how the Library will look and I must say SUPERB . Loved watching . Crack On😘

What an exciting puzzle! It's like having a timeline into history. The earliest period with no heating other than open fires to the 20th century with boilers and furnaces.
It is amazing the changes in the convent over the years with all the new builders bringing their version of change. Be it new walls, insulation, doors, and electric it does make some change in the original blueprint of the convent. I like watching this and think that the library is going to be beautiful. It's very nice to se the work progress in the Convent. I'm watching every episode. It's a big project. Could the "chimney" be an old ventilation shaft?
All good stuff folks. A point or two on the width of the gallery, enough room should be there for two people to pass and also for the correct angle for a ladder to reach higher shelves.
it might be nice to have a desk or table in some of the window alcoves. (with chairs if there is room) And also a few window seats to sit and read comfortably in the other alcoves. Love your plan for the library.
I did wonder if, because of the proximity to the priest hole, if the void was part of an escape route from below the convent, or from a secret exit/entrance in the refectory to the outside. So someone could have used a wooden ladder, for example, to climb up from the basement to the priest hole.
I was hoping you may have found the secret hiding place for the missing convent treasures. 😢 . Have a safe trip to England Mick, you'd better take your wellies and a boat. Xx❤
Great job, but would have been better to turn the bottom of the rubble chute up like trouser legs than cutting it. Then it could have been used in other locations later
In your gallery you have to allow for two people to walk abreast. Also there are probably fire regulations determining the width to allow unimpeded escape.

Absolutely.
Simon, I think it's great that you're saving all the insulation for your projects at your home.
Exactly what I thought and also about the electric sockets...
Can you reuse the metal vertical supports, also?
Good on all of you for repurposing the insulation for Simon's place. It warms the heart to see how you take care of each other.
