Never heard a flutist who understood this concerto better - he makes all the difficult and disharmonic passages very meaningful to me. Still the pure and simple melody from the beginning of this movement is the passage that just makes me fly into another world ...

Well, we may disagree, but my comment was not made very fast, I've heard a lot of versions of this, incl. Galway's. With all respect for my dear sir James I'd say that Loic Schneider surprised me here and made me hear something in this which I never heard before. Something which I think is in the spirit of Joaquin Rodrigo. Sometimes it's not always the very best flutist like Galway and Pahud who really understand and 'feel' the music better.
