- Welsh Government despite public opposition, imposed a default 20mph speed limit. This implementation has caused chaos, confusion and stress across the country with no credible data to back it up. Please sign the petition below, otherwise I fear this will continue and most definitely run into the whole of the UK. #triumph #motorcycle #bonnevillet120 #firstridereview #modernclassic #bonneville #triumphtiger1200rallypro #triumphtiger

If you notice, all the people implementing these rules seem a bit odd, not the best looking. I’d suggest all these authoritarian rules being implemented, are a result of people with deep personal issues going back to their youth. They love the power and control they didn’t have when they were young.
They say like father like son - Drakeford's son is in prison for rape.
@@cloudbasenirvana food for thought
Politicians are by their very nature dangerous people: They are people that want power and control over others! Politics is purely about the acquisition of Power, it's their Drug of choice!
Mr Khan the london " mayor" is someone who fits into this category exactly.!! Gerry andersons baddies from thunderbirds and stingrays puppet shows of the 60's comes to mind.. ?!?!
I thought the same thing. Not a handsome man among any of them! No charisma either. It’s my belief they are getting back at society for thier self loathing
Remember the good old days, when speeds were simple to remember based on what you are going along.
You have remember speeds?
Just remember, £100 fine for an incorrect size or dirty number plate.
£60 fine for not displaying one, civil disobedience is key
The last year or so everything has been getting silly. ULEZ, overuse (it seems of 20mph limits), and LTNs which are increasing people journey times and adding huge pollution.
It's a mess😢
Good video Nick📹👍
It’s all a mess, I was in thick Forrest Region yesterday and a section of road dual carriageway was slowed down from 60 to 40mph with a sign saying “we have reduced the speed limit to reduce pollution” 😲 they do know right that A typical tree can absorb around 21 kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year 😂 it’s simple just stop cutting trees down 👍
Pollution is taken care of with the Cat, this takes exhaust gas and turns it into CO2 and water. I would also add that fuel injection adds or subtracts fuel based on throttle opening ergo, if you have to run in a lower gear you will almost certainly be burning more fuel at the higher rpm you need to keep the torque up.When it comes to pollution, the Government would do better to get the oil burners off the road.
If as a tourist you don't like speed limits or congestion charge then don't go to those places. Wales relies so heavily on the tourist so good luck to 'em 🏍
Actually I like safer roads for pedestrians and cyclists and a few more minutes of travel is leisurely. Many more tourists of the same mind will be visiting soon.
No we WONT@@Wilem35
@@mikerobb8838 look at the Netherlands. Brexit ruined your country.
@@Wilem35 Negligibly safer according to both major studies published and more polluted as cars will be running at less efficient speeds and will kick out more co2 per mile as well as all particulates .
I will be steering clear until this unwanted nonsense is removed by the will of the Welsh people who have already gathered nearly 500,000 signatures in opposition.
Won't be visiting Wales anytime soon. There was nothing wrong with the previous speed limits. Just some road users needed re educating. Stiffer fines would have sorted that out imo
We had planned a tour through Wales in 2024. I had several campsites all setup on the satnav after searching for hours on UK camping sites. I've since changed it to Cotsalds, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and back via Ashbourne. I wonder how many others will do likewise
Such a shame, but your new route regions are fab 👍
Same here mate couple of us were going to spend a week in Wales next may. We've changed it to Yorkshire dales.
Used to visit Llangollen across the ponderosa and onto Betsy coed lovely run on a Sunny day and I've even done it on a terrible windy rainy 🌧 day obviously not as enjoyable 😉 but all part of the biking experience, silly 20 m p h limits are inconvenient and unescesary, even in the Highway code it tells you to drive or ride to the conditions at the time , they should allow people to use common sense 😀, but I think this all ties in with net zero climate change theories to get people off the road , W E F want to control peoples lives , we must resist this dictate from our government, I do think this will put people off going to Wales .
Why would you be biking through residential area?😂
Can't listen you wreck how you pronounce Llangollen 🤦♀️
Fab video Nick but I think I`ll be giving Wales a wide berth on my bike ! Rediculous when a bicycle can overtake you on a main road 😞
Good, we don't want you here anyway.
Huge traffic jams as the guy in the front car knows he will now get a ticket if he tries to overtake the cyclist - lots of worried cyclists now riding with huge traffic streams right up the backside.
Its a bit of a myth that one really. Let say the cyclist gets up to 25 mph. That is Time Trialling speed and back in the 80/90s when I was time trialling the object was to get under the hour for 25 mls. Very few achieve it and these are extremely fit serious athletic cyclist. My personal best was 1hr 2.56 on a reasonably flat Cheshire course. Your average cycling Joe wont keep up 25 mph for long on flat and most even fit guys average around 15/18 mph on club runs. I still cycle quite a lot plus my motorbiking and drive a car as well, love it all and I am no lefty wokie either....another myth, oh also all club cyclists are insured they have to be to ride with their clubs. Great video I get round that area quite a lot on the Speedmaster.
@@cloudbasenirvana since that’s not happening any more than it did you’re safely barking up the wrong tree.
@@malcolmemsley5909your forgetting that most drivers would be doing more like 15 mph partly because speed omiters aren't completely accurate and partly because some people would be scared of getting a fine for going 1 mph over the speed limit
Also a reasonably fit cyclist can easily average 20 mph for a couple of miles and going on a downhill stretch towards a town centre it would be even easier for them to be faster than cars and motorbikes
I logged my mpg on 3 of my 8 mile runs to work before the 20mph limit was put in place, I reset my MPG on the car and did the journey each time and logged the average mpg over the journey and it was 42mpg, I did it again three times since the 20mph limit came in and recorded 38mpg. The main reason was at 20mph I had to drive in second gear but at 30mph I could drive in 3rd gear without labouring the engine. It will be interesting in a few months to see the statistics on traffic accident and pedestrian deaths and compare them to pre 20mph limit...
Years ago, Manchester and one other local authority discovered their 20 limits increased casualties or made no difference. The conclusion was that pedestrians became complacent and drivers paid less attention at lower speeds.
ALso, pollution. Lower speed = longer journey time = lower gear = increased revs = more emissions.
Welsh bus companies are struggling to achieve schedules now and couriers must be having a hard time maintaining deliveries.
Any safety drive should address pedestrian education. Historically around 85% of injury accidents are caused by the pedestrian.
This isn't about safety, it's an element of the global agenda to eliminate personal mobility and isolate us in ghettos.
Thw Welsh Assembly is complicit in this crime against humanity.
Here here. Sadly 60 per cent of people can’t see or work out the agenda going on.
Absolute rubbish
All they have done is reduced all 30mph limits down to 20mph in built up areas to increase air and noise pollution.
The 40mph limit as you leave Llangollen heading up to the ponderosa cafe 13:26 has not been reduced, it's been 40mph for years.
In my area, they have been reducing some of the forty limits to thirty, and that have reduced thirties in non built up areas to twenty as well....although not far up the road, where I thought it desperately needed to be reduced to twenty, nothing has changed!!!
Nonsense, slowing down does the opposites of what you said.
just subscribed ,nice relaxed video . been there over the years .dont ride far these days now 74 . keep up the good work , best wishes .
Thanks for the Sub 🙏👍
Thankfully managed to get out for a little ride around a few lovely back roads in Wales a couple of weeks ago before they spoil them 😢
A nice ride. I dont like the 20mph limit unless its by schools. The 40mph signs on the road you were on look like they'd been there a long time which is fair enough when driving past peoples houses.
Since the rocking horse Drakeford brought in the 20mph bad joke most people seem to be ignoring it and doing 30-35mph and now the 20mph school zones where all used to slow down are now being ignored by most and people are staying at a constant 30-35mph.
Agreed. I am in favour of 20mph in busy shopping areas schools etc usually the High Streets. however the more sensible drivers would drive under 30 in such areas anyway. You are also correct with the 40MPH The Horseshoe road has been 40 for a long time, similar to the Cat and Fiddle which was reduced to 50 due to bikers over the years many riding dangerously. Last week I went into Wales on my usual routes and some roads have changed to 20 but once away from the High Street area it was back to 30 then 40 and Nat. Limit. It wasn't that bad but I haven't done all the roads /routes I do in Wales, are the media making more out of it than it is...time will tell.
@@malcolmemsley5909 I’m staggered at the absolute rubbish being spouted by so many. As you rightly point out not much has changed outside of residential/ urban areas where there is now a bigger proportion of 20’s. So there’s still 30’s 40’s 50’s 60’s and 70’s.
It’s got so bad that I’ve seen a backlash . What was once a “Karen” is now a “ motorist “.
Ironically the comments were more accurate than motorists arguments 😂😂😂
I can recommend the isle of Man as a bike tour destination.
Yes there are speed limits there and they are enforced. However where derestricted ....

Thanks Nigel, you need one, absolute game changer for winter rides
My observation over the years is that the standard of driving has been going downhill and I'd attribute it to driver apathy due to slower speed limits, "safety" devices that cars now have and the way that modern cars are very comfortable and leave the driver disconnected to the world outside. It's getting to the point where drivers intentionally don't stop or give way at junctions despite seeing oncoming traffic.
"Sorry mate, I did see you but pulled out anyhow." 🤡
so you think 20mph is great. come to wales and you will change your mind. remember next year england will have the same.
I don’t doubt you for a second
Hi Nick, I do same switching between tiger and Bonny with forgetting to cancel indicator

20 doesnt give you enough umph to get up a hill safely and under control. With a village every 10 yards it has ruined the motoring in wales.
1 try 2nd. Even my 125 has no issues here in Snowdonia ( you know- the place with mountains )
2. Regularly ride down to mid wales. So 350 round trip. I can confirm you must be in cities because on those trips it’s not at all like that.
If you can't ride at 20 you shouldn't really be riding

Since the new 20mph limit has been put in place and not just in towns but any where it was once 30mph I have found there is a tendency for car drivers to turn right in front of you and also pullout of side roads. BEWARE!!!!!!
Not here in Gwynedd.
it isnt a blanket reduction from 30 to 20 William, only where appropriate. but i do agree with cars cutting across etc, had it done a few times to me!
More nonsensical posts.
Without burning out my clutch on my BMW R nine T 1200cc, 20mph means 1st or 2nd gear everywhere in Wales, not for me anymore, Wales just lost one more tourist!

Labour's Wales is skint, another way of boosting the kitty.
Please sign the Senedd Petition especially if you live in Wales. The Welsh government keep saying most people want it. This was a survey of 1000 people - not most people in Wales! The labour government are wondering why young people are leaving, I can tell them why 26 years of labour ruling Wales that is why! No jobs, no prospects, no visitors, but 20mph limits all over the place.
It can only be Mr Darcy and the Ol’ Man 😂
I'm not happy with 20 mph except in certain areas. This policy was badly considered and implemented by the Welsh Senedd. Still I hope people still come because there's beautiful mountain roads, green laning, spectacular lakes, mountain roads where you can hoon it but watch for sheep. If you want to go really fast check out Pembrey Circuit. There's always a welcome in the hillsides for everyone. Welsh lesson for today say Senedd like Seneth. 2 D's (dd) are a Th lol. Crazy ancient language. I might get the Enfield 650 soon and 865 it. Maybe catch you at Abergavenny cafe some day.
Nice vid. Llangollen is pronounced more like Chlan (the Ch is important like in church but listen or ask locals)- Goth Len. Wales is great for bikers. Glad you love it. I do find how people say Welsh place names funny :)
👍
@@MOTOUK1 Mad thing is to say LL (Llan) you have to say K and CH at the same time.
I understand Welsh but I can't speak it. In the 1890's you couldn't get a job in the pit if you spoke Welsh because the pit owners wanted to know what was going on so you had to speak English in front of Overseers. In our part of Wales Welsh died as a language. It's coming back now. I'm nearly 62 and I had to take my Fireblade off the road or get banned. I might still keep it tho' 929 RRY 2001 (Year I did my Tib, Fib and ankle bone 13 screws, wire, 3 plates and I had to have my soul mate dog put down. I bought the Blade once my leg healed. Got some projects too. The Blade is too much temptation in these days unless you can go private to tracks
. Hey I have a 65 B40 BSA too.
Nice bike my car is stuck in second gear when I drive around town to make sure that I am going about 19 mph to stay below 20 mph and I am looking more at more than at the road whilst my car engine is over revering because the car should be in third gear as cars are not made to run at 20 mph all the time and yesterday a electric bicycle over took me doing about 21 mph so I shall be signing the petition
Think back to when you were learning. You did that. You won’t very soon ( took me a few days) as hopefully you’re competent now. If not. Well….
Even push bikes will be overtaking you soon because the 20 limit will spread to the whole of the UK with a lot more speed cameras when Labour takes over as the UK government next year
they keep slowing traffic down it will get to the point when people say enough and stop even bothering to keep to any speed limit.
I notices last year that they had put some random 50 mph in and even some 30mph in the middle of nowhere for not reason and loads of double white lines . they are pushing us bikes out.
i wonder how much income Wales gets from all the bike trips Food , petrol, over night stays
There are definitely areas in Wales where thirty is way too fast (due to narrow roads, and a lot of cars parked along the sides, forcing us to drive on the wrong side most of the way through, but they already had the power to lower the more dangerous areas...it would have cost a lot less just to update as needed. Funny though, all the narrow one lane, two way back roads where you can't see around the many bends, and you are likely to meet something coming the other way and have to reverse back down, or a horse, cyclist, dogwalker, sheep or slow moving tractor....and no pavements....these are mostly still sixty limits 😂
I know right, i was surprised down some single track lanes that i came across national speed limit signs 🤣
@@MOTOUK1 remember thats a maximum recommendation not speed to drive at
It’s a limit not a target.
I asked the police about this on the Bike Safe course. Most country roads that are lightly trafficked are 60 limit and doesn't seem to make sense. I was told the government/.councils will only limit widely used roads where there is a danger and wont spend money limiting the quieter country roads unless a danger has become a problem, so its a blanket limit, however no one in their right mind would attempt 60 on many of those roads, 40 can often be a struggle on the bike or in the car.
I’m rather perplexed at these comments. It’s definitely not a blanket limit and I have found plenty of other limits.
I’m in Gwynedd. The council have been working well and there’s 30’s and 20’s.
Other roads are as they were so it’s not a blanket 20. Nationals are still in place and hardly limited to narrow slow roads.
Sorry but there’s so much fuss about nothing. I’m sure many are commenting but not even in Wales.
You should mention what type of bike it is a bit more often
its only 20mph in heavily built up areas.Other roads
are 30/40 and 70 mph.I live in a 20mph zone and none
of my neighbours are complaining about the new restrictions.

All those cars in the background are speeding.
They haven't got the infrastructure set up properly yet for electric vehicles....wouldn't surprise me if the 20 m/h limit has something to do with stopping all the electric cars from using up their charge too quick and overloading the main power supply when recharging ? ....just a thought.

Not every speed limit has been changed from 30 to 20. Only reduced where there is an increased risk i.e town centres (some), residential areas, schools etc. I live out in pembrokeshire and it isnt all 20mph many parts are still 30mph. the vast majority of my biking is out on the open road, countryside, hills etc so there is basically limited impact, so unless your planning on touring town centres and residential areas the whole time just come here and enjoy the brilliant biking roads. As for some that are cancelling touring holidays etc, that is a shame but their choice. What if - and it is a remote "if", that England/Scotland/NI etc should have a moment of madness and adopt the same 20mph speeds, does that mean you're never gonna ride again? Small print....i do not wholly support the 20mph or support that lunatic Drakeford 🤣
I'm guessing they haven't finished installing all the 20 mph signs yet, but most of the 30 limits in Wales have been reduced to 20, so motorcyclists don't have to tour the town centres to find themselves getting routinely overtaken by cyclists (which currently don't have any legal speed limit) especially on a downhill stretch of road which is quite common on the approach to a village or town centre
As for never riding again, a lot of people will probably do what so many millions of Brits have done over the last few years and simply move to another country in the hope to find more sensible laws
@@paulcooper3410 i hear ya mate. i cant speak for everywhere but where i live all of the signs are in place, with many 30mph remaining 30mph unless in residential, schools, high risk areas etc. Our council even has maps of the local area showing 20mph zones and where the 30mph will remain. thats not to say they wont change though
I would also like to move abroad to more sensible speed limits and somewhere warm, i am thinking Canary Islands!!
I take doggy out every day and we both wear our hi viz. If the Sennedd had a grain of common sense they'd give every kid a hi viz and urge them to wear it.
But that's the whole point. They have zero common sense.
Why should they have to wear hi viz? I often wear one but no one should have to. If you can't see a child then you are driving too fast for the conditions.
@@oliverwhitby4778You'd deprive your child of hiviz just to make a "why should I?" point. Fvck man, that's scary.
drakeford is just like khan couldnt give 2 shitts
I'm boycotting Wales. 20mph is ridiculous except for outside schools.
Because most children get hit elsewhere… and congestion at open and close makes 30 almost impossible…
@craigyllyn . In my day children were taught to look both ways. 30 mph is a good compromise. People will stick to it. 20 mph is ridiculous. Can't even overtake cyclists. U trying to wrap everyone in bubble wrap. U ain't fooling anyone. It's a war o the motorists. A great revenue generator. 20mph outside schools fine. Job creation for idiots with speed cameras i suppose.
@@johnh1872 teaching people and them following are in the heat of the moment different. Firstly some have LD or ASD etc. some might trip or lose balance like a lady who got decapitated where I was. 30’s are widely ignored so probably the 20’s will but the drivers will be still going slower than the 30’s speeders would be.
Revenue? Too right. Just the accident investigation part of a serious accident costs £2.5M. That’s per individual. If people want to pay extra tax by speeding it’s their choice. Anyway the no. of cameras here in Gwynedd is tiny. Very rarely see them. It’s actually very difficult to deploy them here due to geographical limitations. So there’s little scope to increase unless people choose to get caught because they’re even published!
@craigyllyn . U could get struck by lightning are u going to ban that. Accidents will always happen. Not over reacting is important. 30mph worked enforce that. 20mph is ridiculous.
@@johnh1872 lightening? Not something we have control over so sorry but it’s not relevant. The difference between 30 max and 20 max has minimal impact to the driver ( we are doing it here with no issues) yet can have great benefits to vulnerable road users.
As you know it’s not a blanket 20 and so it’s not as being portrayed. 30 simply doesn’t work for so many residents . It’s not ridiculous to have the 20’s . As you not here you’re guessing.
As long as you also boycott Scotland and much of the rest of UK who already have 20’s at least you’re going to be consistent. Just watch out as children are mostly hit away from schools…. The ones I’ve had to sort out have been.
If karn can do it so will everyone else
It's just a bit slower in the bits that were already slow. The rest of it is the same. The HUGE tory fed over-reaction with this is all very snowflaky.
Langolen 😂
Double L in Welsh is sounded a bit like blowing through an L. It doesn't really translate to an English sound. You definitely don't say the Ls as in English. Easiest way to say it is put the tongue on the roof of the mouth and blow around it.
From a Welsh person that i asked
🤣 th th th thank you John
Used to love going to Wales and spending a few quid on the way .Sorry shopkeepers but until you all vote these Hitlers out of office I will find another place to go.
problem is that the valleys still think its 1984 and the strike is still running
You are miss producing the name of the town in correctly. There are two LL not one at the beginning that make a sound together as if you have flem in your mouth and you put your tongue between your teeth to say the word
When your life fails don't go to Wales
Would have been nice if you had done a tiny bit of research as to actually pronounce Llangollen, its not rocket science, and no, im not Welsh
Leave Wales to the Welsh ........
🤣
Your title is a blatant distortion! The limit is NOT 20mph. It is 20mph in towns and village centres. You know where folk live. The elderly, children, mums an toddlers who have taken back control of their own environment. I came into Wales via the A40, stopped to visit Raglan Castle, amazing, then into Raglan village for petrol. New 20mph signs. Did this restrict my ability to tour for two weeks on my x-adv 750? Of course not. Wales was stunningly beautiful and visitor numbers will increase now that 30mph through traffic has been controlled.
It's not a distortion.
Nobody thinks it's every road and to suggest that they do is ridiculous.
Roads with a perfectly safe 30 limit have been reduced to 20 and it's crazy.
@@BrianMcGuirkBMG he got his knickers in a twist ,didnt he .
roads which were 40/50 have been reduced to 20, main dual carriageway through north of cardiff now 20 , roads between villages up the south wales valleys now 20 . major routes for commuting into cardiff 20 mph . transport minister announced the day after it was implemented that he wants the number of roads affected to virtually double.. This is not a safety or pollution policy but is the start of removing all motorised private transport from the roads of wales
@@BrianMcGuirkBMGyou clearly have no idea😂😂 it’s shocking how people think the 30’s have gone . Anyone would think they don’t live here😂😂😂
@@kynastonpnot like that up here at all. Our councils sorted 30’s. Maybe you should sort your local councils
Hope they can filter out the English people that have never even been to Wales voting either way on this.
You may not have noticed it, but the Welsh roads connect directly to the English roads.
Of course. I am talking about the statement that the number of signatures is a clear indication that the Welsh People don’t want this. That obviously depends on who those people are.
It's not their country they should mind their own business ... Well not really or ppl outside South Africa shouldn't have protested against Apartheid.
I welcome friends from everywhere to support our struggle.
If the reports are true that Google has had a spike in Welsh postcode searches then perhaps this explains it…
@@BrianMcGuirkBMGbut we have the manners not to interfere in local English stuff. Especially when it’s so ill informed.
You make an interesting journey sound really boring.
At least pronounce the place names properly.....
Off
Please please learn how to pronounce Llangollen 😖. 50 & 40mph roads haven't changed under the new legislation. My Speed Twin 900 cruises along happily at 20mph in 2nd gear. Nothing is ruined, North Wales is still the best place to live & ride. Sure the 20mph zones could be tweeked in some places but it's early days 🤷♀️. I won't be signing any petition, it's nice having our villages safer & there are plenty of fast roads still.
Well said. I’m so fed up at the rubbish being spouted
To be fair, you should be banned from Wales until you learn how to pronounce Llangollen properly.
Fine by me 🤣👍
Learn to pronounce the place names properly? (It’s not hard)
Welcome to the "New world order" hello karl marx. 😂😅
Yes they have. If your complying with this 20mph speed limit then you are part of the problem too. If everyone ignores it they will have no choice but to revert back to 30mph. No, I don't care about the costs. I'm not travelling at 20mph stuck in second gear it is just ridiculous!!
