if it was a "million and a half to one" the odds of three machines paying out jackpot in a row is around 1/1,000,000,000,000,000,000. So no. Not billions. Not even trillions. Quintillions.
I read the book of the real story of this movie. The slots manager was in on it with the scam. Before the real Sam Rothstein became the Casino Boss, the Momo was working at the casino for a while from a different boss, and the Momo installed Magnets inside the machines to have the marks land where he wants them to land.
The line is correct. However this is what happens....during the first take, "Ward" is supposed to really give the word 'firing' a huge drawl so it would come out something like 'far' in' but he doesn't....deNiro does not miss his line but starts to crack-up when he looks at Rickles who is playing the straight man here, after he, deNiro, delivers his lines. It make no sense to keep repeating this scene since it works anyway with deNiro doing the heaving pulling. I mean if anyone out there in RUclips-land thinks it is easy memorizing even those few lines, just go home and try it. Finally it should be well noted that the film editor puts it all back together anyway. She did some great work with her magic scissors to get it to work so smoothly. Mr. S.
