Well at the age of 47, and after having a life changing accident i have finally took the plunge. I'm now doing a fine art degree with foundation yr. Some good bits of info there pal. To be truthful, i'm absolutely bricking it, but its what i love to so airbrush so on the positive side, i should enjoy it.
You are very welcome :). You will be two years less ripe than I was when I turned up haha. Best of luck, and if you have any questions fire away and I will make a video to answer whatever I can. Thank you for the comment!
I am starting uni next year at the age of 34. Your second point addressed my greatest fear (other than finances - covering living expenses moreso than tuition). Very, very good point! Cheers!
Appreciate the confidence booster video. Going to try my had at University after being a Carpenter for the past 6 years. Loved the job, but having a University degree is a life goal of mine. Hello Sociology Degree.
Wow I applied at 34, and had fears and confusion , but now Im 2nd year mature med student and so happy of that:) So it's never to late ! Importaint to do just 1st steps 🚶♂️ in the way to your dream:)
I found as a BIG drawback going back to school, compared to 25 years ago.. is the difficulty of online learning. Especially, when you have no support from any staff that put this program in place..in the first place.
I'm from the US and uni is just too expensive, so I decided to move to Europe to become a physiotherapist at age 28. this video helped, defiantly understand what you mean at 18-20 you're not willing to do the work as much as when you're older because of your drive, was a bartender for 6 years and hated working as one every since covid hit. thanks for the video!
Youre hella silly. College in USA isnt that bad. Pellgrant (given to all citizens) literally pays 100% of community college for 2 years and you pay like 20k to finish at a 4 year.
If you complain to upper management within the college regarding your concerns, they WILL brush you off...saying.. “We will NOT change the curriculum for ONE student.”... TRUE story.
Sad to say I quit uni today. With the covid and being dyslexic it was becoming too stressful for me and I wasn't getting on with others. I also felt that I was the joke of the course and wasn't listened to.
I have dyslexia and was able to get a master's in mathematics. I believe in you. Find something that works with your dylseixa and just do it. You have loads of time, you can even go into insiderty for a few years and go back.
Also...half my teachers are younger than I am... which can be difficult, especially if you have a specific learning style you expect from experience. Face to face teaching compared to 100% online learning.
Thanks for your video. I am thinking of returning to university as a VERY mature student. I am in my 40s and have been a musician all my life but would now like to study music production as I have a lot of experience in this field... any thoughts?
Hi, and thanks for watching and commenting! I wouldn't call yourself a VERY mature student as I have met several Undergrad students in their 60s and one in his 70s! You are only as mature as you feel my friend ;). That aside, it sounds like you have a ton of experience and are likely to be snapped up. I would just make sure you research the universities you are interested in and apply to ones who value 'non traditional students'. Good luck!
In Canada, college and university is a totally different mentality. You, my friend are still quite young, at 28, compared to us older folks who are in their mid 40’s and up. I found the older you are, the harder you fit in. Also, it depends on the program you are in. The attraction to younger participants compared to older ones.
Hi man I'm planning on going to uni for the first time at 26 turning 27 next April to do biomedical science and was just wondering how you went about applying since you said on your old channel you didn't have A levels. I'm in the same situation I do have a BTEC level 3 but didn't do too great in it and that was 8 years ago. Did you do an access to he course or foundation year etc just confused about the whole ucas process tbh as it's not so cut and dry for us mature students. Thanks for the content mate and good luck with your course.
Hi Brxd, thanks for the comment and reminding me to get back to posting videos! I filmed a video this morning to address your question and I'll be posting it later today. Thanks again and hopefully the video will help you out.
Helpful insights, thank you. 37 here, never been to uni. Does student finance pay for living costs as well as tuition fees? Do they loan the money for living costs or just give it to you? Thank you
you will get all the same entitlements as a 18 year old that's course fees to the uni and up to 9k maintenance loan paid to you to help with rent/ mortgage ect

Thanks for this video! I have decided to return next year at the prime age if 26, and I'm scared. Your video helped with some of my worries.

My mum went to uni in her late 30s and absolutely loved it!

Stressing out about starting in September, so thank you for this - helped ease my nerves a bit.

Do you have a video on preparing for lectures in advance and studying tips and techniques, very knowledgeable video.

Thank u for the tips, I’m 21 and be entering university I took a 3 yr gap after HS so kinda anxious how I will blend with the other students

I was confused being among yestarday- school-pupils and youth first time, but now get used to all of it. It's just a question of time
Another drawback are the Professors, who doesn’t take you seriously, and think that you will drop out by the next semester.
Enjoyed this video. Thanks for the tips!
You are ever so welcome :). Thanks for watching and commenting!
If you complain to upper management within the college regarding your concerns, they WILL brush you off...saying.. “We will NOT change the curriculum for ONE student.”... TRUE story.
What did you want to change?
Sad to say I quit uni today. With the covid and being dyslexic it was becoming too stressful for me and I wasn't getting on with others. I also felt that I was the joke of the course and wasn't listened to.
Please never ever give up, That's the only way they will recognize and start listening to you.
I have dyslexia and was able to get a master's in mathematics. I believe in you. Find something that works with your dylseixa and just do it. You have loads of time, you can even go into insiderty for a few years and go back.
Another drawback is there is lack of support for the “mature” student.
you will find other mature age students for support.

@@immaturestudent9087 Thank you so much! You've made an old (ish) man very happy!
was it hard getting in to the uni without meeting the criteria?

When I say, “attraction”...I am referring to the course attraction..from the view of the older student compared to the younger student.
You are right 28 is still young compared to when you are in your forties.
