Islam vs Poirier had the same vibe as Bo nikal vs Brundage. We expected such a dominant performance and fast finish, we were kinda let down - even tho they both we’re technically dominant the whole fight and both got finishes..

Holding on to the joint like palharess will just cause far more damage and it can even be permanent. Should the fight continue till your opponent is unconscious? Should tkos be banned since they still can fight?

They let the fighters fight it out during the submission, and it’s up to the fighter to tap if he don’t want his arm to get broken, the ref won’t stop the fight until it broken because it’s their job to give the fighter every opportunity to escape. And it’s good they stop the fight when it’s broken especially in a case like this when Kevin is continuing to cranking on it, that can really give you permanent dmg and rip apart the ligaments in your arm.

he blamed costa though. didn't take responsibility for it. said costa kept walking back when he walked him down. in reality if sean wanted action he would've responded to costa walking backwards by increasing his own intensity/pace but he never except very end of last round. (Mir is an exception because he’s a heavyweight and didn’t have it fully sunk in when he hipped into it.) You can only dislocate it, which only tears the UCL. Strickland did not dissappoint at all! He completely dominated Costa and put on a clinic. It was a sight to behold. Costa is the one who failed to turn up the heat. At least for the last minute of round 5 i was expecting him to go all in.

Strickland has the standup version of Dagestani wrestling on the ground. It's effective and dominant but not exciting to watch. He is so defensively sound that he gives zero opportunity for opponent to throw at all. You know Sean can punch harder and that's what makes it frustrating. He enjoys watching the man's eyes wilt slowly instead of hurting them badly. He's a torturer not an executioner.
Round 5 was Strickland 💯. He was closer to finishing Costa than the other way around and he dropped him. He had the more damaging shots in rnd 5, crazy you really think Costa won the 5th

Islam is absolutely underrated at striking but to say he is top 10 is a lil sus. His striking is automatically made 50 percent more effective just. Y the fact that ppl are terrified to grapple with him. His opponents are splitting their attention into two separate threats so simple striking set his will work much easier for Islam.
