Strickland stylistically was always going to be difficult for adesanya, because adesanya fought him exactly like costa did, they go back and try to counter if necessary and would stick to trying to outpoint him, this is a dumb strategy because countering someone who never takes risks and plays too safe like sean is a waste of time, adesanya simply stuck with this style because it's his comfort zone that got him nearly all his wins in the ufc, he didn't wanna fight sean again and took his "2 year" break because with sean he'd need to get out of his comfort zone and go forward, fight him a lot like jared beat sean which is not something he's willing to do. The problem here is that sean always loved opponents who lay the red carpet for him and let him easily march forward into them adesanya is that, even if they are amazing counter attackers he still can beat them thanks to the spam jab boring pace and amazing defense. countering is difficult to do to sean because his whole style is staying long and very defensive, it's his style to fight counter attackers, he doesn't take enough risks to get slept unlike dricus. Dricus is the same in a way, he loves marching forward but the difference here is that dricus is not defensive or cautious, and he's very sloppy, he leaves his chin hanging with every one of his sprinting long combos..
