Good luck with the challenge. I broke 20mins for the first time in May, at the age of 40. I had struggled to break 25mins 18months before that. Breaking 20mins is one of the things I'm most proud of. I'm sure you'll feel the same when you get there.
@@SimonBanfield congrats! massive achievement! I’m sure I will feel the same, from not being able to run a lap of the park to running a sub 20 5k will be huge! Thank you! And thanks for watching!
A good run , just an observation and not a criticism so please don’t take it the wrong way , I’ve noticed on a lot of your vlogs that you start of saying why you probably won’t get your sub on a course , so in a way you almost set yourself mentally to not achieve your goal . Be positive and dig in I reckon you’ve got the ability to it , just leave the doubt at home and hang on for dear life, good luck 🤞 you will smash it , you still need to do faster runs too bud
@@nicksrunningandadventureschann not at all, I think you are completely right. I had noticed this watching the footage back myself and have already said to myself that needs to be different at the next one. You are also right about it being a mental thing. I need to find away of switching off when it starts getting really uncomfortable and just dig in and go for it. Thank you! And thanks for watching!
@@CarlTheAmateurRunner I had to hang on for dear life when I broke sub 20 and 19 it was hard , but I believe you’ve got what it takes to do it ,good luck bud and thanks for taking it the wrong way
@@francolive5718 Hi, thanks for watching! Yeah, quite possibly. It’s going to be hard to find a pancake flat park run without travelling too far so maybe I’m just gonna have to practice hills!
Right, we're going to have to find somewhere where I can pace you round to sub-20min. Let me know what you have lined up and I'll see when I can get over to you and help out.
@@garymacalister That would be great!! Very kind of you to offer Gary. Although I still have a good chunk to find I think someone pacing me is exactly what I need.
@@CarlTheAmateurRunner It's worth it. Nick Bester did it same weekend I ran it ruclips.net/video/QW2-g3tuTzk/видео.html&t= and he got 15m 16s time and didnt even get first place. We stayed at "Poole Park House" which is 100m from the start and you get a parking spot in the drive. Anyway, give it a go, make sure you get a good starting position, do a video and I bet you go back next year . . . I paced my wife to a 26m 49s time and we didnt even come i the top 400 (but she went 49 seconds quicker than any other Parkrun)
@@PaulBeverley just watched the video, looks great. Want to do it even more now ha. If not the next park run I will definitely be giving this one ago at some point. Early start of if I do, 55mile away.

You two need to do Poole . . . It is fast and wide for the first 0.7km. Third fastest Parkrun in the UK (2023)
