Fab video of my local parkrun! It's crazy busy, I run with a buggy and it's tough at the start to get through the masses! Well done on your PB!! When you're back head to The Clipper cafe in the Dolphin Centre - proper old fashioned café 👍🏻
Great run and a great video. Congratulations on getting that sub twenty, it’s a brilliant achievement and such a great feeling. Well done. 👊💥 When I did my first one the Garmin said, 19:59.9… luckily the timekeeper pressed for 19:59. 😂
@@johnhiggins674 thank you!! That was my fear when I looked at my watch, had I just missed out by just 1 second? But yeah, such a great feeling and such a massive achievement. I still can’t quite believe it when I tell people I ran a sub 20! 😁
@@itsonandy Thank you mate! That’s a shame. I found a good chunk of time round here so definitely recommend it for a pb attempt. I am sure you’ll run a sub 20 next time out!
I'd love to hear more about your training. I'm around 21:30 and I've been chasing sub-20 for ages. I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I hope Cardiff went well for you!
@@thesouthendrunner thank you and thanks for watching! Cardiff went very well! …video to come soon 😁 I think a good mixture of runs in your training is key. Easy runs, long runs, speed sessions. I incorporated some hard speed sessions into my Cardiff half training to try and help me with both. A mixture of 400 and 800 intervals at sub 5 and 10k pace with minimal rest in between. On these sessions I was clocking 14-15k and I think these sessions definitely helped. The course was also a big factor for me.
Huge well done, what a result after all of those efforts. This is my goal too so it was inspiring and encouraging to watch you make it happen. Well done.
@@dennissimms5542 thank you so much! To hear you have been inspired and encouraged from watching my videos really means a lot! The support and comments I’ve had from viewers of my channel has been great and it’s what motivates me! Thank you!!
Well done 👏 Now to do it consistently 😅 the drive won't have done you any favours either. Looks like a lovely Parkrun but a bit far from South Yorkshire lol. Good Luck at Cardiff HM 🍀
@@SwimBikeRunStu thank you Stu! Unlike any other Parkrun I’ve done. Watching everyone make their way over to the start line was amazing. My wife was even more surprised when the stampede headed straight towards her 😂
Yeah this is my local park run. it's a flat course and great venue. It attracts alot of people, but do consider that first KM working your way through the crowd and obstacles, unless you are at the front, it's actually much harder to chase a PB here than the other Parkrun's nearby. We are blessed to have such a big turnout each week, but really vital to consider the above if coming down for a PB attempt.
@@shaneroymitchell you make a very good point. You could lose a fair bit of time if you found yourself caught up in the crowd. It was such a great Parkrun and I will definitely be revisiting at some point in the future.
I ran that day and one of my fellow park runners walked past you at the start. I wasn't too far behind, aiming for a sub 21. I finished 20.16. I should have tried for a sub 20 finishing the 5th in 3 minutes 45 🤦♂️
@@JasonWasey next time!! 👊🏻 Impressive 5th k too btw. I can usually find it in me for a sprint finish but I got caught out having the finish somewhere else in my head. Generally though over a 5k I’m always quicker at the start and try to hold on.
@@CarlTheAmateurRunner a nice new flat out n back, fast but can get busy sometimes, I marshall there not run it yet but will once I'm completely injury free
