Is the cylinder arm better than a post bed? I see guys using the roller foot with post bed but it looks like it leaves pressure marks. Seems like maybe the walking foot would be less likely to scuff the leather?
Curious too. Alot of ppl have this very machine but many also say you need a post bed for patches on hats. I wonder what the pros and cons are between the two styles.
Thank you. I have been wanting to try this on my Cobra 26. I would love to see you do a video showing how to make a crossbody using a saddle blanket and leather.
Can it also sew embroidery patches ? Or is the machine to heavy duty for that type of material .. thanks love the video currently looking for a machine to buy
My own experience of putting a finger under the needle, says your better off guiding near the needle with a chop stick. With practice, it’s much easier too,, because you can guide closer to the sewing foot.
I can watch this dude explain anything. Thanks man!
Hey Aaron great job on sewing patch on the hat awesome work as always have a great day in the shop Aaron and Janie Sue peace out Aaron!🇺🇸
As always, outstanding work. Thank you for taking the time to show us this.

This is awesome that you came out with this video!! Thanks!

I've never used a saddle blanket for more than saddling a horse :)
thanks for the help; this made laugh and stay motivated at the same time
Very helpful demo. Thank you.
great color on the patch, what type of leather and color do you use?
@craigcater5783 that is Russet skirting from Wickett-Craig. No other color was added, that's just how it stamps.

I've used it to sew many biker patches onto vests if that's the type you mean.
@@makersleathersupply1220 i wanna do embroidery or woven patches on to hats just wondering if that class 26 could do that work sir
The light on your machine is blinding. I've watched this several times in the past. Still looks simple, I just need a hat.

I was very impressed!! I did one on. Class 4 cobra. And its wasnt bad at all. But it takes a slow going for sure!
Going to be attempting this in the near future... Hand stitching though.
Would this work for ebroidery patches instead if leather on this machine
Great video!
Would you prefer a post bed over this cylinder arm bed for hat patches?
Either one will work fine. This cylinder arm can do a lot more of other things than that post bed though.
When you mention a supplier like the guy who does your logo tags it would be nice to include a link to their website
Thank you for the informative illustration. What is the preferred stitch size for this patch?
7-8 stitches per inch seems to look pretty good. 138 thread
Awesome video bud. What ounce is that leather patch?
4/5oz
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with everyone!!!What mm stitch length do you use?
It's about 4mm.
Nice video, I don't have a sewing machine so is it possible to hand sew it and make it look good. Also, what size thread would you use
Very much so. .8mm is my preferred size at 8 stitches per inch
@@makersleathersupply1220 thanks Aaron
Do you mind a video for round patch? Thanks !
Why don't you backstitch after you have gone all the way around?
I know you turn while the needle is in the leather but does it matter if it’s on the up stroke or the downstroke of the cycle?
The best time is at the beginning of the upstroke. This helps ensure that the shuttle hook has grabbed that top thread so you don't miss a stitch.
@@makersleathersupply1220 thank you
Great explanation!
Aaron, I have a Class 4 and use 138 thread... I shouldn't have any trouble doing hat patches just like you did should I?
Nope
Have y'all stopped producing videos?
Things have been busy around the shop, more videos are coming soon.
What size needle do you use with the 138 thread?
20
@@makersleathersupply1220 thank you!!
Excellent
Just sewed 45 patches on hats, then I watched this video. The 26 worked perfectly!
Can this be done on a flatbed machine?
It is much more difficult because the patch has to "wrap around" the hat. If flattened and sewn, the hat might lose its intended shape
С таким же успехом можно было сшить и на плоской машине. В идеале для этого дела должна быть колонкового типа машина.
Why dont you make your own stamps
Because Greg Turner does it best... and I like to support those who are good at what they do.
Does class 26 have a reverse stitch option ?
@edwardolivares5038 yes, it has a reverse.
Why don't you backstitch after you have gone all the way around?
@MsVeile i go over the first few stitches again ans that locks them in the same as a back stitch.
