- 27 year old Lorenzo jumps incredible obstacles at a galop while standing on his 8 grey Lusitano horses.
Called "The Flying Frenchman," Lorenzo perfects his routines on the beach near his home town of Saintes Maries de la Mer in southern France. His popularity has led this equestrian prodigy to perform at many prestigious venues, including the World Jumping Championships in Calgary.

Saw similar man/horse bonding in Argentina Rancho. The horses love these men. They are like family. I would fly to France just to see Lozano and his horses perform. True miracle.
I never get tired of watching this. It's so beautiful, it almost brings tears to my eyes.

wow! i know the horses might look angry sometimes but the truth is they wouldn't do that if they didn't want to! they are practicly loose on the beach so they can do what they want! its amazing horsemanship! anyone agree???

Their ears are not pinned (an indication of anger), they're rotated to listen to their leader Lorenzo. This is a group of very happy horses.
You can learn to do this with your horse, natural horsemanship is beautiful in its self. Parelli method and Monty Roberts are the best teaching techniques I've seen so far. But I am just an amature.

When he has the horses pursuing him, the pinned ears are a play aggression response. The horses are having fun, if you have ever had a horse chase you for his grain bucket (a bad idea) you would see the same ear position. When he is on their backs, the ears pointing toward him indicate that he has their full attention, and any true horseman strives to have his horse focused in this way. Lorenzo could never do what he does without tremendous respect and cooperation from his horses.

A playful dominance, horses never lie. If they hated him, he'd be in for a ride whenever he took the harnesses off.

Horses will pin their ears back to listen to their partner/trainers voice, it is not just an aggressive habit. Believe me you'd soon know if it was.

They are extremely ornery, often. I find them a bit similar to the Mustang. They have strong herding instincts and are very agile. I am so happy my French husband learned to ride on THIS breed.

I'd love to see his show in U.S... but as far as I heard he doesn't want to inflict such a stress to his horses by transporting them across the Atlantic. That's why they say he only performs in Eurasia. I respect such decisions... oh well, this only means that I'll have to start "walking towards the mountain, not the other way around"! :)

It calls to mind Albert Lamorisse's "Song of the Wild Horses," a movie from 1962. It featured horses running in slow moton along the shore in, I believe, the same location as this video. Why that flick isn't out on DVD already is a mystery.
