I'd probably find this out when I talk with the local recruiter anyway but good to know in advance. The guy I talk to, who wasn't the recruiter, said that this is a great time to join the National Guard. I'm so pumped, I'll be watching the clock tick on by until I can enlist! Thanks for the video!
Yea. Bonuses has been slowly climbing. Four years ago it was 10k then 12k, for past three years, and this year it just reached back to 20k. Definitely a huge choice and glad your pumped. You get what you make of the experience. It’s gonna suck a lot at times, but after it’s done you’ll have a bunch of “one time at basic” stories lol. And very much appreciated
For school benefits and bonus you need to do a six year for your first initial contract. After your first initial contract you can chose the amount of years. Three gets you nothing and you lose out on the VA loan as well. Yes after your drill it’s back to normal civilian life.
That’s going to be your life style just the weekend and two weeks in summer. Plus school if you decided to use your benefits which you should. Thanks for watching I hoped I answered the best I could.
My bf wants to go to the Air Force is that different from the national guard ? & can he spend time with me and his daughters ? or is that only for national guard because we wanna live on the military base.
Going active is the only way your going to be living on a military base. And he’ll still be able to see his daughters because it’ll be like a normal job. Work then come home. My wife’s uncle is about 36,joined the air force right when he turned 17 and is just about to retire soon. Also his deployments were usually only about six months over seas. Mines was about nine. So that’s going to be the better choice for you national guard you’ll still have to fine a job while joining the guard. So good luck hope that helps.
I’ve been waiting on my first half for over a year now…they just keep telling me wait 90 days every time I ask about it. Pretty sure it varies from state to state.
Possibly the mos you chose didn’t have a bonus. Or they weren’t offering bonuses at the time. I know they just bumped up to 20,000 in Nevada but I had three people just joined my unit with no bonus as well.
Joe, are you enlisted or commissioned? If you are an officer, I am wondering if you can make a video on commissioning as an officer with the national guard?
I’m enlisted but I’m starting the ROTC program at my university this fall. Since I’m already in I am allowed to do rotc only in my junior and senior year. I would recommend to you is join asl enlisted and finish your school. Then take rotc and you’ll have a good amount of experience in. When we get new lieutenants you can always spot the ones who only been to college and the ones who went with military experience. Makes a difference. Hope that helps
@@JoesModernLife ....I am already finished with college. Heck, I now have two bachelor's science degrees. Lol. I have no prior military service or experience. I am "dreading" basic training-boot camp. 😣😖 Since I have my bachelor degrees.....I prefer commissioning as officer. I was going to join army reserve back in 2011 and wanted to do ocs .....but the plan did not work. I did not know about the benefits of national guard. I plan on attending a graduate school program in the near future. So I think tuition assistance from the NG is great.
hmmm the guy I signed with said something similar but I think he said it would be split into 3, I’d get 10K after training & AIT and 5K after the third year. I’m honestly not sure about the rest does that sound fishy?
I’ve never heard of a three split. Just all upfront or 2 split. Just make sure your contract says what he says. And make sure the bonus is there. It’s up to you now to make sure everything you wanted is in before you sign.
Joes Modern Life yea I just looked over the paperwork and the 20k is definitely on there I guess they’re just splitting it up differently to make sure I don’t flake, I think he said I get the other 5K on the fifth year
I believed it might have changed so they cover I’m not 100% sure with the reserves. The guard does cover tuition and any student fees is covered by you so my tuition was shy of 5,000 and I ended up paying 650-750 So huge coverage out of all of that. And it’s right after AIT.
Yes if you become a tech you don’t get bonuses. A lot of my friends are techs and after their contracts are done they just sign year by year contracts. Since theirs no incentive anymore
What?! Aw snap. I did not know that these bonuses were taxable. It sucks that uncle Sam and state government takes approximately $6000-$7000 away from your bonus (if it is in the amount of $20K). Oh well, good to know!
The bonus is for MOS that your states need at the moment. If there full with medics there won’t be a bonus for them but if they need mechanics desperately then the bonus could be higher.
Depends on your unit honestly. But I would believe they go just as much if not more than any other mos. 88 milkes supply everyone with everything they need. Some just call them truck drivers but they got my respect for sure.
I’ve done one and it’s sucks at first and the dangers are real. But there’s always safety precautions and other brothers to watch your back. You’ll make money. Gain experience and friendships. It’ll suck during but when you come back you won’t regret it.
Contact your line leader and speak with the nco who is in charge of schools. My second bonus was six months last but I was calling every week. Turns out the person upstate quite so they had to hire a new person. Good luck hope you get it soon.

I got a 20k sign on. 7,500 on my 3rd year and 7,500 on my fifth year
This was for air national guard
can you just put everything into the TSP so that full 10k is growing for the future.
How much money do you leave basic training with ?
Hi! Do you have to meet any ASVAB requirements to earn the Quick Ship bonus and if so, do you know the qualifications?
U need to score 50
I’ve been waiting on my first half for over a year now…they just keep telling me wait 90 days every time I ask about it. Pretty sure it varies from state to state.
Yea sounds about right. Youll get it though havent hear someone not receive it.
My recruiter never mentioned anything about a BONUS?¿ Hmmmm

Lol. Yea. Make sure you finish the contract. Hahaha. At least it’s on there sucks it’s a three way split
My son’s recruiter told him that it didn’t apply to him. Is that true?
is the bonuses just like the army bonuses. where you have to be quick ship airborne and all this other stuff to get the full 20k.
To get the full 20k just sign up for the MOS that’s available for the bonus. You get half after basic and AIT and the other half on your third year.
Hey brotha, how does it it actually take to recieve my bonus? I get after AIT but how long?
Mine came in under a month after AIT. . And the other half on my third year on the day I signed my contract.
If I join the Army Reserves, and after AIT will they pay for my full college tuition to go to a University
I believed it might have changed so they cover I’m not 100% sure with the reserves. The guard does cover tuition and any student fees is covered by you so my tuition was shy of 5,000 and I ended up paying 650-750 So huge coverage out of all of that. And it’s right after AIT.
But I do have people in the rotc program that are reserves and they say their coverage is garbage but maybe it’s changed.
I signed a contract from active to Gaurd how long does it take to receive the first half of the bonus
Your first half is after AIT. But ready your contract. Some people get their full bonus after AIT. Make sure you have five copies of your contract.
So do I not get a bonus if I decide to go dual status tech and work on base as a civilian
When would i get the remaining amount of the bonus?
First after AIT then second on your third year.
Even if they didn’t mention the 20k bonus do we still receive it?
If it’s not in your contract then no you don’t get anything.
I'm currently 17 and awaiting training
Do I get the bonus after BT?
You get the bonus after finishing AIT.
@@JoesModernLife how do I apply for the bonus?
Your recruiter will put it in your contract and then you make sure it’s there when you sign for it at MEPS.
@@JoesModernLife thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
I hope everything goes as planned and good luck.
Is this bonus just for your mos or all national guard?
The bonus is for MOS that your states need at the moment. If there full with medics there won’t be a bonus for them but if they need mechanics desperately then the bonus could be higher.
Anything else just ask.
@@JoesModernLife Thanks! Im 09S so there wasnt a bonus.
What is the likely hood of an 88M being deployed???
Depends on your unit honestly. But I would believe they go just as much if not more than any other mos. 88 milkes supply everyone with everything they need. Some just call them truck drivers but they got my respect for sure.
@@JoesModernLife how long do deployments last? For the guard usually?
Same as active. Nine months over seas. But we spend an extra month or so in another state getting paper work and medical all ready.
@@JoesModernLife being deployed is the only thing scarying me lol. Btw greetings 19 from Chicago
I’ve done one and it’s sucks at first and the dangers are real. But there’s always safety precautions and other brothers to watch your back. You’ll make money. Gain experience and friendships. It’ll suck during but when you come back you won’t regret it.
My recruiter said I get ten hundred million
He probably said you’ll never deploy too. Lol
88m mos eligble for the bonus?
Depends on the unit in your city. If they need the mikes then they slap the bonus on it. You’ll have to check with a recruiter for the list
What if I sign a 4 year contract do I get a bonus ?
Bs I still haven’t gotten my bonus it’s been 4 months, since graduating AIT
Contact your line leader and speak with the nco who is in charge of schools. My second bonus was six months last but I was calling every week. Turns out the person upstate quite so they had to hire a new person. Good luck hope you get it soon.
They always say the same thing. The system is down
I feel you. When they want money it’s out of your account ASAP. But when it’s time for pay they take their sweet ass time.
