  • This Hike and Technical Canyoneering Descent in the North Wash Area of Utah is Spectacular and Unique! Not only was the Canyon a Beautifully Sculpted Slot, the Greater Area was an Incredible and Wild Landscape of Slick Rock Domes and Outcroppings running along the Dirty Devil River.
PLEASE NOTE - Always use proper Safety gear. I set a poor example by not using a helmet for this Adventure. Canyons can be especially dangerous because they can funnel rockfall from personnel above or simply from pulling your rope and often there is little room to escape! I will be using helmets on a regular basis moving forwards. I have had one minor injury in the past where a helmet would have prevented it. . . .

That was a beauty! The slot was cool, but the surrounding slick rock was amazing. Another great adventure. Thanks for sharing. Coming your way this Wednesday to hike, REI, and Sam’s.

Keep on bringing the obscurity! Just when you think there can't be anything this great you haven't heard of, KD presents again...

Thanks 👍. I guess the enjoyment of discovery is pretty strong for me. Plus, and this is big, the path less trodden can hold great adventure and beauty, right up there with the big names. 😉

Holy shit, this is awesome Karl! This is so unique and fun, not sure why more people (including myself) aren't doing things like this. Makes me really wish I lived out west!! Keep the vids coming!! PS - Loved the intro music. PSS - Stupid question - so I assume you test those anchors and replace if need be?

And yes, anchors are inspected and replaced if necessary. All the ones on this route were double/redundant at the time.
