    Puncture protection with the schwabe tire, not sure about that. I had a rear flat tire yesterday. It was a small tiny piece of of glass that puncture the tire and the tube. So puncture protection!?!?

    Another fantastic Review!!
    Been seriously looking at the DOST bikes, but also interested in the Biktrix Duo3 and RIZE RX. The RIZE RX seems to have a lot of similar components, a larger 1000 watt motor and torque sensor for less money, but not sure which of these bikes is the best value and best bike. Really be interested in your opinion Court and the opinion of others.

    • @repCanada
      @repCanada 3 года назад +3

      Those are the exact 3 bikes that I have been considering. I eliminated the biktrix from my shortlist because it is the heaviest (100 lbs in dual battery configuration if I remember correctly). Also the biktrix, has 3" tires which I believe is a little too wide if you are looking to maximize range.
      The Rize Rx and the Dost bike are very comparable. The Rize looks better for the price at first. Having a torque sensor, larger battery size in dual config and more powerful motor. Also it has no exposed cables at the bottom of the downtube like Dost has. Only downside I see is the brakes on the Rize are single piston vs dual on Dost. Dost has 2 year warranty vs 1 year on Rize. And Dost has fantastic front mounting points for a well designed front rack that contains two bottle bosses as shown in this video.
      If I'm wrong on any of the specs, or anyone would like to share their opinion I'm happy to hear it
      For me the gates carbon belt was the deciding factor that made me finally decide on Dost.
      Here's a link to an excel spreadsheet I made comparing bikes I was/am considering. Let me know if link doesn't work.

      @charleswest3008 3 года назад

      @@repCanada Thanks so much for sharing the spreadsheet!! This really helps to compare the bikes. Just one thing I am noticing is that the pricing you have listed may have changed recently. The DOST CVT with 2 batteries is listed as $5898 CAD and the RIZE RX is listed as $4199 CAD. Also, the Rize RX comes with a suspension seat post standard where that's an additional $199 with the DOST. Leaving pricing aside, so far I think the biggest differentiator between these bikes may be service and support, as with DOST is appears excellent, and with the RIZE highly suspect based on lots of comments in various forums. I am also really not a fan of the exposed wiring on the DOST from a reliability standpoint , and also wish it had a torque sensor. Lots to think about...

    • @2NDFLB-CLERK
      @2NDFLB-CLERK 3 года назад +1

      I originally had those 3 brands in mind .
      Was gonna get that biktrix juggernaut classic 8 discounted [800 bucks cheaper] on their website [don't know if it's still there], but biktrix don't ship to Alaska..
      I don't think rize does, either - but I wanted that Dost bike anyway. I would attempt to upgrade my order to the CVT mode, but they don't ship those out until spring 2022.,
      - so F that wait.
      I want something asap.
      Dost customer support seems to be much more evident than Rizes' does.
      Which was a major factor in my decision.
      🟥

    • @charleswest3008
      @charleswest3008 3 года назад

      @@2NDFLB-CLERK I agree. From what I can tell, Dost's Customer service and support is excellent, Biktrix's is good, and Rize is well below par (from comment's I have seen). I have no personal knowledge of any of them, although I did visit the Dost showroom to view the bikes in Port Coquitlam and they were very nice and answered all my questions. The question is: Is Customer Service & Support worth the price differential relative to the much lower cost of RIZE for the same / better components...

    • @roshans124
      @roshans124 3 года назад

      Charles, you do realize that the added weight on the Biktrix duo is due to the larger battery right? Dost with two batteries is 48V 24Ah (14ah + 10ah). Rize is 48V 30Ah (15ah x 2) and Biktrix is 52V 39Ah (17.5Ah + 21.5Ah).

    Cort. I have a buddy that owns the original Dost e-bike with a chain and derailleur. He tells me that he has to set the speed he wants to ride at before he starts to ride. Is this bike the same were you have to stop and set the speed you want to ride at? This seems to me like a really limiting feature of the bike. Most e-bikes, as you know, have different levels of assist that you can change while riding.

    I had a wide grin on my face for all 22 minutes of this video! I am new to ebikes and have not even been on one yet, but nothing has caught my attention like this bike - well there's the Riese and Mueller Superdelight but that's still out of my budget for an ebike. This one Dost Kope, however, checks all my needs for a fun commuter bike. I wonder if I can save enough to make this my xmas gift! Would be nice to have an auto CVT that links with the motor for worry-free riding and for the longevity of the motor.
    Can you turn the power off and ride it like a regular bike?

  • @TeddysVentures

    Great review! Thanks! Interesting ebike! If the max payload is 285lbs and you are a heavier rider then you are limited if you want to carry additional cargo. For the heavy build of the bike it would have been nice if it was built to have a 300+ lb max rating.

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  3 года назад +3

      I feel you, their original bikes were rated to 300lbs, but I think they are being a bit more conservative now to account for the high rear rack rating. In my experience, spokes are the first thing to fail on bikes that are overloaded. They start to come loose and can break, but the bike frame and other parts tend to do well.

      I have the original Dost, and I was delivering a food order earlier today with it. Google Maps gave me the a HORRIBLE "best route" to take. It was an off-road bike path that wasn't too bad for the first 90% - but then the last part was a small but crazy steep hill with tree roots, which made it quite bumpy. When I got to the top of it, I saw another one. The bike handled those hills, but I did wipe out because of my own bad judgment. Luckily, the customer ordered something that wasn't easy to make messy from this.
      Going up those hills, I was worried about putting too much pressure on the chain and snapping it.
      I really need to take that thing to the 'bike doctor' in the near future...

    Hey, I have watched so many of your reviews and it is so hard to choose a bike. Help! I know exactly what a want: a bike that feels like a regular bike as much as possible, can go on bumpy pavement, dirt roads, some small path hills, and power enough that I can go up the hills in my hilly town of Port Townsend, WA. Also, availability is an issue. I found a Moustache Xroad2 in Seattle, really nice shop called Dandelion Bikes, and the owner Tyler is such a cool and helpful bike guy. But, 4K is so expensive! The Moustache is also heavy at almost 60 pounds. We also have the Rad headquarters, but although they are much less expensive, they don’t seem like that are as responsive and natural riding as the Moustache. One more thing, the bike I have had for 35 years is a Specialized Stump Jumper which I love, but my back and knees need help now. Do you have any advise? I know that Specialized has a Vado SL, but not as many people work on those motors compared to the Bosch system. Do you have any advise?

    Hello. I’m lot really sure if this is the right place t7o6 ask this type of question so forgive me if it is not. I have been doing a lot of research, trying to decide on my first e bike. I am really interested in the Dost Kope CVT, Specialized Turbo Vado SL 5.0 Eq, and the Radcity 5 Plus. I really want a rear rack and am a bit worried the Specialized rack is too thin/small. However, there is the advantage of being able to buy the Specialized from my local bike shop and establishing that relationship. The Specialized is also much lighter for carrying and it looks so much more like a bicycle. There is also the brand envy as I would love to own a specialized bike. The Kope CVT has that amazing and easy belt drive, the amazing from standstill infinite shifting, and the motor cutoff when shifting. It has a really nice display They both have the optional 2nd battery I can add later. It has a really nice display. Thejh Radcity has so many amazing features for so much less money. I really like the tail light brightening when breaking. I’m not as enthused by the hub motor but I could buy 2 of them for the price of the Specialized or Dost. I am looking for the bike to be used for predominantly street and paved bike trails. I can’t drive a car due to a visual jdisability so biking is my way jto run errands or grocery shop and any other activity within 20 miles of home, to avoid Uber charges. Is there any recommendation you can make to help me to decide, or any other bike you recommend? I really appreciate your help.

      Hi Mansa! It may look similar or share the same battery pack design, but most of these ebikes have some geometry changes and accessory differences. I've covered the Ride1Up 700 a while back, and it was pretty nice too. Here's my review of it electricbikereview.com/ride1up/700-series/

    They don't honor the hassle free policy if you have bike issues. They basically reimburse you instead. Huge bummer. My bike is basically junk after 652.9 miles

    Dost angers me. They delay my order by like six months and now come out with a new model. Order cancelled!

      Welcome to the ebike world. Lots of supply issues. I bought a rad rover and 3 months later they announced a new bike coming in October. Why should research and development anger anyone? Did you ask DOST if they were coming out w a new bike and they lied? Then you should be angry. But really you should be angry at yourself for not asking.

      @@flytheskymyway Wrong. I had my Juiced bike within a week after ordering. It literally took Dost longer to refund my order than it did to order and receive the Juiced.

      I feel you, it's frustrating to have to wait like that. For what it's worth, I know that DŌST is trying their best with deliveries and paying extra to get shipments as fast as possible. One of the challenges is that derailleurs and cassettes are backordered industry wide. I believe that this is one of the reasons they hustled to create a CVT and belt drive solution, because those parts will be ready to ship faster. This should reduce pressure on the other components and speed up orders like yours :)

    You sound like a shill for this bike. Not mentioning lack of torque and cadence sensing or the grotesque cable assembly at the front is inexcusable. I'm astonished that the makers consider this a market ready design with that ugly mess in the front. This is a design I would have expected to see in 2015, when newby manufactures were still learning-not today. Shame on you for touting this.

    Another giant step away from being a bicycle. Honda has a 300cc 308# adventure bike.
    My money is in a Yamaha Cross Core fitted to my desire.

      How is a this a step away from being a bicycle, it has the same power motor and battery as before, just now it has a carbon belt and cvt. Which Incase you were unaware is the exact same setup at the Priority Bikes Continuum Onyx. Which is....a bicycle
