Hearing you say that having a shop with the ability to do all of the work yourself was your dream really struck a chord with me. Ever since I was about 7 years old and I read an article about restoration in a magazine it's been the same with me. I'm getting on for 50 years old now and just about getting there! The tool turned our great, very professional looking end product. Having a lathe really does open up the opportunities. It was M20x1.5, that makes sense. Best wishes, Dean in Oxfordshire, UK.
Hi Dean, yes you know ever since before motorcycle magazines there was popular mechanics. I would read the words right off the pages, Then came motorcycle mags. Same with those, and can you believe I still have some of those magazines, I am rereading them again now. Lots of dreams have come to life that started from the pages of those magazines written by people I will never know, but I know they were all just like me, and you for that matter. I just dont think people dream like they use to. It seems like folks want so many things right now, instead of having life long dreams that just keep getting better as they evolve. I knew early on what I wanted, and when starting the job everyday that in most cases I didnt enjoy, I just told myself this was how to make my dreams come true, and I had a life time to accomplish it...I was in no hurry. Being so would have taken the fun right out of it. Oh well my 2 cents.
@@montana2strokeracer we are on the same page brother. I knew it would take hard work and learning from an early age, but I always hung on to the idea that one day it would happen. I think we've lost that as a society, the ability to work towards a worthwhile goal. I have a copy of the magazine that inspired me as a boy. They were a weekly that built up into bound volumes. I was lucky enough to buy a full bound set from an guy that collected them through the seventies. He was really pleased that it meant so much to me. Take care, Dean.
Hi Greg, You know that is the center out of a flywheel, right? Yes just find an old flywheel with a good point lobe and drill out the rivets and turn the outside down on your lathe. Works great. Your going to have a lot of fun once you get going with your new tools. Thanks for watchin
@@montana2strokeracer Yup, don't have any extra's lying around, so I thought this would be a good test. Of course I'll probably need a 50' of pipe to make one part 😀
@@montana2strokeracer I've been looking. Stopped by the scrap yard today, but couldn't find anything useful, not even to practice with. So I'll get online and get some.
A good machinist can make anything .

Good job brother thanks for sharing. Glad you got the lath fixed.
Thanks Cain, yes glad I did too, been using it a lot every day.
nice job again dale I'm sure on some old rd twins i ve had in the past we used to use one of the wheel spindles to remove the flywheel
That is entirely possible, I never thought of it. Think they may be the same size.
2nd on hey Dale don't forget to watch the motorcycle auction when you get a chance. Nice video by the way.
Thanks Larry, your going to have to be quick to beat Frank, wow, have you seen the insane prices folks are paying!!!
Great job Dale, I am also looking for one at my Suzuki TS25 (1980). Best regards from Belgium.
Thanks Nick, for the life of me...why do they make so many different ones? Appreciate you following the channel.
first on Frank in las vegas. go Dale!!
Thanks Frank, grab your popcorn.
Watching all your lathe/mill stuff again. I wanna make that spacer you used to set the points on the TC-125 (once my stuff shows up).
