Playing in AIR Studios (at home!) - Clarinet experiments

  • I'm playing my Clarinet in my little home studio and using AIR Studios Reverb to place it in the legendary Hall, but also a variety of ways to use the new plugin to make different sounds. (The 'pop' sound every so often is Logic cutting the clarinet take every time I hit stop!)
    * also - if you look at the CPU usage on the Reverb thats the % of a single core on this old 2019 mac pro - 28 core machine so divide that reported % by 28 to get the overall CPU used.

    We need more demos of this! I would like to a hear a folk, country or rock arrangement to see if the reverb works in that context too. £300 without a trial and no relevant demos just means lot's of people will not be buying this, even if it were exactly what they were looking for.

    Good-morning Paul,
    Extraordinary this Reverb and thank you for your tutorials.
    But I'm a little lost...
    How should it be done?
    Could you give your opinion on video or by responding to me on the panoramics?
    How to do this, for example, should we put the 1 violins on the left in panning of the Logic instrument track and also on the left on the reverb?
    And how best to do it also for the Reverb, directly on the instrument track or on a bus?
    THANK YOU in advance Paul?

    • @PaulThomsonMusic
      @PaulThomsonMusic  2 месяца назад +3

      Thanks! Yes I'd do it that way. Pan the track where you want it in the stereo field, and then also send it to that area using the reverb on a bus. So set up a few busses - could just be Hall left font, left rear, right front, etc. - then you can use the on the instrument track for any special fx or unique sounds you want for a soloist

    Very cool Paul! Just an idea - instead of mixing the dry signal in using either dry/wet or using pre-fader which can be confusing to newcomers, why not just have a dry pass-through signal as the first fader in the GUI? That way one can keep all the mixing in the plugin itself.

    This is pretty cool! But.... some people have mentioned wanting to use their BBCSO library with this. The thing is, those kinds of libraries already come with reverb from a different space, as opposed to drier libraries such as Studio Strings so, I wonder, how to use wet libraries with this plugin without turning them into a mushy mess? What settings would you use, both on this and, say, on BBCSO?

    Hi Paul. This is really nice. But I wonder if you considered placing some 'people' in the room to add the option of it sounding more like what we hear in films, when people are in the room. As it is, it seems to just sound like an empty room. What do you think?
    Also, a tutorial on how you envisioned this being used when more simultaneous 'players' are performing would be helpful, as in, do you expect to route each instrument type to a subgroup and put one instance on each instrument group, or instead put one instance on the entire ensemble?
    Thanks!

    • @PaulThomsonMusic
      @PaulThomsonMusic  2 месяца назад +2

      Thanks! We did a ton of research and tests before we settled on this approach. The way I tend to use it is sections going to a send so you can send from for example Cellos and Basses to 'Strings RHS' etc. so you end up with 5-8 instances to send to, set up for different areas of the Hall. Then when you want specific and non general effects I set those up separately.
