I recently got some nice pieces of plumbing for free and I didn't know what to do with them. Until I found that they may be good clamps, and because I'm in a lack of clamps anyway, it was worth a try. they are no particularly strong plamps but also really not the weakest. They operate very smoothly because of the fine threads but of course they are not the fastest.
Tools reqired to make them: Hacksaw, powerdrill, wood (jig)saw, file, rasp, hammer, chisel. Наука
Cosmas, I loved your method of nut retaining, not quite what I was expecting from an engineer from Germany, it cracked me up - great stuff and a great idea. Thanks.
It's always fun and informative to see a good mind at work! Great design for all sorts of custom sizes, made at a reasonable price. Thanks for putting this out there.
Yesssss !!!! Thank you ! I just disassembled an inversion table I build 15 years ago and now I have lots of short pipes and was wondering what to do with all of them.... 'course I used the four long ones for long pipe clamps, but this is the best idea for the short pieces !!
It is great how you use the shop materials to invent something so useful .. That is the spirit of handyman in you. Thumbs up Cosmas.
Glad you like it! Long reach clamps are a good thing to have, for sure!
Glad you like it!
Very clever design. I'm going to try this myself. Thanks for posting. I noticed your power saw. It looks home made also. Impressive!
great use of the material, I thank you for this idea and will use it! Thanks!!
Excellent.....I also liked your table saw.Thank You for sharing
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I can make them any size I need. I like your sense of humor at the very end.
Hi Ed. Did you try making it longer? I am thinking i will make it 1m and i wonder if it will bent!!!
Mr Bauer I really like your projects....especially the table saw.....sweet ! Love the clamp video and will look forward to seeing more !
Nice heavy duty wood clamp thanks for sharing.
Great job Cosmas. I don't know about the cost of pipe in other parts of the world but here in the U.S. the 3/4" pipe and the threaded rod would only cost around $15 per clamp. I'd also have the flexibility of making it any size I wanted and also out of any size pipe I wanted. Thanks for sharing your idea.
That is some nice design for C clamp. Thanks for sharing.
Great idea, definitely something i will be looking at.
Thanks for taking the time to pass on your tips.
Noticed this video only today. Very clever!
I am going to subscribe!
Brilliant use of off-cuts and you have a custom-made quality tool. Love the use of the hammer! All the best, Organikmechanic aka Andy
Glad you like it!
yeah tabbing with my little drill press would end in a real disaster :D I once worked on a like 1 ton drill press and it had a low speed and reverse feature for tabbing, that was cool.
Nice idea, never thought about doing some thing like that. Those beefy push sticks are nice also.
very good thank for all of the films
A verry good your idea ... Thank you Cosmas !!!
Yes great idea using the drill press to start at 90o. I'll take that to the training classes!
why is this still a thousand thumbs up and views for this . this video is worthy of a million. thumbs up for this.
Oh, this is brilliant!
Hm, I wonder if this could be modified to clamp across a large area, say for laminating, by closing off the open ends and making a long rectangular clamp, with several threaded rods and pads along the length of the jaws.
Brilliant, Love the way you start the tape, and the way you handle a B.F.H. wunderbar. Thanks for saving me some dough! i'm going to use your idea.... To those that don't have this stuff laying around, If you are going to need to get your local machinist to mill your parts you might just want to order a C clamp.
Świetny pomysł.
A good idea, sir. Something anyone with a few tools can put together for themselves!
Very good!! Brillant! I will try one!
Great stuff good old German ingenuity terrific to see must have a look through my parts bins might be able to knock up a couple myself, a merry xmas to you and yours cheers
Great Video. Gotta love shop made clamps!
That's got to be one of the easiest and most effective DIY clamp I've seen. Great job man! I will definitely be making some of my own... with a few modifications
mod 1 put a jam nut o.k. the bottom of the handle so that it can be undone or done quickly with a drill and socket
mod 2. add a pad to the clamping points
mod 3 make the moveable clamping able to free spin a little more so that it doesn't scar the wood being clamped.
thoughts?
thanks for the inspiration!!
Congratulations and thankyou for your idea!. I wish to make one . There are many countries in the world where this clamps are very expensive and the pipes are inexpensive. And the money, isn't important at all, the need itself, yes it is. I'll see your future new clamps! :)
Love it man!
Hey buddy, i like your shopmade table saw. Nice video showing all your woodworking tools.
its great idea .really really nice .thank you
Brilliant! Thanks!
yes!!,you've very good idea. begginning the tap with drill press. it's nice !! I work with that's a long time ago and never did like. but, now I am ..
Молодец!! с учётом что всякой фасонины на свалках валяется очень много, в умелых руках и мусор блестит не хуже золота, браво!!!! Идея валяется под ногами.
great work

Thanks for the informative video. If I make this I'll make a deep reach version.
Maravilloso, felicitaciones
Nice job!!
Damn good idea!!! great way to save scrap and also you can call it your own, i like this idea plus you can make your own custom lengths if needed.
I like your idea, going to make a few myself.
Congratulations, you have done a good job, plus, it is a way of recycling off cut tubes.
I hope to do this project now that I have some time, thanks
Good job, Thks
Thank You
hmm that is true! I will do a video on that!
Good idea thanks
nice idea!!!
Parabens !! vou fazer para vender aqui no Brasil pois são muito caros,
excelente idea!!
The wall thickness of the pipe addad up is much greater than the threaded area of a nut so it is even stronger. haven't had any issues or signs of wear.
I like the clamp design. Good idea on starting the tap with the drill press.
At first I was like: NO- DON'T!
Then I was like: oh yeah... Nice.
Gosto muito do seu trabalho, muito criativo
Muy bien amigo, gracias por compartir 👍 Saludos.
Muy bueno! Gracias!
Thanks! :)
Great work!!! :D
good job
замечательно сделано! на этой основе можно делать любых размеров! СПАСИБО за видео
That's a pretty damn good idea.
excellent. i will try also to do the same, i will try on pvc pipe. thanks for sharing.
that requires a lot of practice!
bravo a vous mr fallait y pense tres belle video
Good idea.
neat idea!!! I will make a couple... Thanks.
Buena idea,saludos.
Elegant!
Parabéns. Brasil
Nice work man! I'm not very skilled but this looks like a pretty easy project for a novice :)
Thanks! Yes they were for free.
Gr8. Thanks for sharing.!
your voice is like "jarvis" hahah !
nice tutorial sir !
Nice video. I have 1 thought about it to make it better. Glue a nut on the end of the handle so you can turn it with a cordless drill. It would make it a little faster when you have to close or open up the clamp a long distance.
Leonard
I like the nut "hammering" technique and is more space-saving than having two interlocking nuts. Alos the fact that you don't see it, covered whit the small wood tap.
I love the “how to make the nut not turn” segment
an old mechanic's trick to lock metal threads is to coat them with ladies fingernail polish just before you put them together it setts up like plastic
Hello and congratulations for the great video, could you show how strong the C-Clamb is?
Very very good.Thanks.(Thai)
Very good, Like that.
I work with 3/4 pipes like those on gas fitting and a bit of anaerobic fluid would secure from twisting.
Good clamp
what the "time is money" flakes are missing is the fun of making something yourself.
فكرا جيدا وموفيدا
good idea... good
Love the clamps. I wonder what would be the largest size you can get away with before its to much for the clamp?
Great work & ingenuity. I believe your first comment was that these pieces were leftover from a job site, so they were free, not $150.
First I thought about welding it but then BAM ^^
чаще красавчик!!! respect!)))
