I grew up in the 60's only a few miles away from where Don lived. I contacted him and he returned my emails almost immediately (I still have them). He sounded like a real gentleman. He certainly was a talented singer!
Oh my gosh it’s just getting better and better, thank you so very much as you have no idea what it’s like to see these clips after 40 years. VAlli and Seasons are one of the best and most successful self contained bands of American origin and the only band of the rock era to have a number one hit before, during and after the Beatles. 70 plus Billboard chart hits, 40 top 40 hits and 20 top 10 hits and let’s not forget the 7 number 1 hits. Thanks so much for posting.
Thank you, Mr. Don Ciccone... for the excellent clip -- and for *not* plastering those annoying, "next-up" preview tags at the end... as do a lot of other people who cover up the image, before the song [or whatever] is completed. 🙂

The greatest USA group of all time! They were the first USA group to sell well over 200 hundred million records! They were the only USA band that was consistently competitive with the Beatles and the British Invasion! I remember when the Beatles first exploded on the scene in 1964. The had a strangle hold on the top 5 songs in the country at that time. But at number 3 was Dawn. That should have been a number 1 song if I ever heard of one. As a matter of fact Dick Clark (American Bandstand) was doing a show specifically on the Beatles and showed the top ten board from that time period. When he got to number 3 (Dawn) he paused and stated that down the road he was going to do another show specifically on the 4 seasons which he did. Those were the only 2 groups from the 1960's that he did special shows on. Then in the Summer of the British Invasion (1964): Rag Doll went to number 1 for almost 2 months! THEY DO NOT GET THE CREDIT THEY DESERVE! THEY REMAIN ICONIC AND MADE HISTORY! THANK YOU BOBBY: FRANKIE: TOMMY: NICKY: AND JOEY. RIP TOMMY AND NICKY I LOVE YOUR MUSIC. EVEN MORE IMPORTANT MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD LOVE YOUR MUSIC TOO.IT CONTINUES TO STAND THE TEST OF TIME!!!
Proof that Joe Long was with the new Seasons of Lee Shapiro on keyboards, Don Ciccone Guitar and Gerri Polci drums. If you go on Wikipedia for this song it lists Don on bass and John Pavia (shown in rear behind Don) as guitarist and omits Joe Long.
Yes, this was Joe Long's close to final appearance with the Four Seasons. He was shown the door because other band members felt that due to his hand injury, he was not capable of keeping up with accurately playing during live performances.
Today's so-called talk shows couldn't hold a candle to Mike Douglas.. he could actually interview guests without reverting to slime, perversion, filth and dirty talk.. ie ALL MSM talk shows... LOVE Frankie Valli and he's still going strong 2024
This was perhaps Joe Long's last appearance with the Four Seasons. He left the group soon after this. Apparently, the other band members felt his playing abilities were diminishing due to his lingering left hand injury.
Was Frankie Valli really dressed differently from the others in the group, not because of his costume being stolen, but rather to signal he was *the star* and making overtures towards going solo?
When Frankie's career started to skyrocket in the 1970s on the Private Stock label, his No. 1 hit, "My Eyes Adore You", was like his earlier solo records: with the Four Seasons as backing musicians, and their vocals kept to a very, very minimal. With the "reforming" of the Four Seasons in the mid-1970s, besides the issues with Frankie's hearing, both Frankie and Bob Gaudio (who went strictly to songwriting and producing after being the original keyboardist and background vocals for the group) decided that the new line up would, after the Helicon album, would not have Frankie in the lineup; the lead vocals, depending upon the song, being handled by Gerry Polci or Don Ciccone. Helicon didn't pan out very well and after Frankie's success with "Grease" (on the RSO label, the same label as the Bee Gees back in the late 1970s), he would rejoin the group in 1980.
Fantastic song and fantastic performance.
Back when people could actually sing it’s called talent!!
I have never seen this video. It's terrific because I can spot the talented drummer from Passaic, NJ Gerry Polci working hard back there.

Nice to see a live version of "Who Loves You".
He is good looking back then as well now and a likable person affectionate to his fans!

And they had more hits and sold more records than any other artist of the 1960s except for the Beatles and Elvis Presley.

@@MontgomeryMall I read that the younger members considered him a dinosaur and that maybe had something to with it
@@asr53 Yes, I would agree that was a factor as well. Long seemed to take it in stride though and go without making a scene.

A time when we had REAL MUSIC
Yeah - Streisand and The Beach Boys were real losers! Every generation has music for diverse populations!
That's a beautiful and rare left handed , stack knob jazz , that Joe Long is playing !!!

True! Joe Long. Joe LoBrascia.
Frankie Valli is an icon because he has an Italian.

Such an odd timing in this song. I guess you need to know what you are doing to keep in time ?
