An F430 can pass smog in Cali with aftermarket headers with O2 extenders….. no check engine light. Also, even if you install new headers oblong the most distant two bolt holes on the headers. My headers were warped and snapped a bolt because of thermal expansion. I should add, the factory headers were the warped headers. No tune.
Its got to be really liberating to go from working as a consultant for companies to working on expensive cars at your leisure for yourself and self enjoyment. Great video I think if anyone watching ever owns a Ferrari they can come to this channel for repair information
There are certain tunes that can still pass CA smog detection. I have a 2011 V10 R8 that was tuned 11 years ago and has passed smog here in CA every 2 years no problem. Trick is not touching the emission settings. But if the Ferrari pre-cats are removed perhaps there isn't a way to avoid messing with the emissions settings. CA is getting stricter and stricter on tunes but having a good tuner (one that preferably lives in CA with mostly CA clients) it is possible to get past emission tests. There is a huge difference between my R8 stock vs. tuned so it is not a ghost tune.
You just never know what you're going to find until you dive in deep. The use of factory hardware and gaskets is a strong selling point. DDiR (Dan Does it Right!)
Did the noise go away when the engine reached operating temperature? My Testarossa has a minor manifold leak (no where near as bad as on that 430), the clicking noise goes away once it warms up. Unfortunately I can’t see a way to reach it with the engine still in the car so I’m expediting a major.
Ah yes, the classic "tic tic" sound. 😵💫 Question, I've heard the reason the stock headers crack is Ferrari had a metallurgic problem, so can you get new stock headers that pass Cal. emissions that don't crack?

I have had 0 luck with O2 extenders
Great video!!! Miss the wig with wine though lol😂
Me too!!
@@normalguysupercar maybe Ferrari convertible driving with wig lol?

Yes and no. Different stresses but it's certainly fun sometimes
Hard to beat a stable paycheck and dealing with someone else’s issues.
2 hours.....wow, very impressive Dan!
Thanks
@@normalguysupercar Basically a Ferrari master tech now... you can take a 2hr job and bill 19 hours at $250/hr ;)
@@auwz66 haha that sounds like a deal.
New gaskets are important. There was this youtube guy that reused an exhaust gasket on his 430 scud and...wait a minute!
Lol yes yes
Great job. You need to get your ASE certification. Really nice sounding.
Eh it's just a piece of paper

Yeah
I think you're really Ed O'Neill, taking time out between acting to give us great info!
I wish. I'd have a lot more money and be a lot cooler
I've got Capristo headers, OEM cats and Capristo twin sound exhaust. No CEL with extensions
Ah nice. It does happen it's just not guaranteed

Thanks and for sure.
Very efficient, Good job 👍
Thanks 👍
Any time I’m working on cars or any other DIY project, I tell myself “do it right the first time”. This is an example of why
Totally agreed.
I put top speed headers on mine, O2 sensors connect no problem and no CEL. Only thing I don’t know is how the Cali emissions test sees all of that…
Ah nice
Yeah, back to regular videos 🎉
Yup
Good job 👍👍👍👍
Thanks
11:10 sounds great 👍🏻
Thanks
Nice save there Dan. Question, do you have part number or info on the washers for the bolts on the bottom tray. Need to replace mine
Not off the top of my head
Hey Dan. All good in Texas? You been awfully quiet. Hope you're not on your way to Oz.
Was on vacation
Does Remflex make a header gasket for the 430?
I don't know
Starting multiple Ferraris to see the sound difference, must be nice !!! 😂❤
Can't complain

Not in this car
The previous owner: "I'm gonna use deez cheap nuts and gaskets before I sell dis car!"
Right?
Now how’s a Nissan Altima with an exhaust leak sound again?
Brrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaappppppp
Wonder if they tried to use the gasket twice?? 😂😉
Yeah yeah
Hi Dan, why haven't you done a live stream for the last 2 weeks ?
I took a week off and then independence Day.
"Ferrari F430 Exhaust Issues"
I didn't know that Ferraris could eat Taco Bell!
Lol
Is it so hard to put Pre_Cats in aftermarket headers ?
It's expensive
Did you fix the exhaust leak on the Scud?
Yes
Ah yes, the classic "tic tic" sound. 😵💫 Question, I've heard the reason the stock headers crack is Ferrari had a metallurgic problem, so can you get new stock headers that pass Cal. emissions that don't crack?
From what I understand they all can crack but the mkii version are more durable
You have been awfully quiet lately. Hopefully you guys are on vacation rather than out of commission due to storms. Best wishes.
I'd imagine he's so busy running the business... that he just doesn't have the time to post as often.
Thanks, was on vacation... Back now
@@normalguysupercar Good for you! Hope it was somewhere nice and relaxing.
Dude still get em hot and retighten them..
Yeah
If I ever can find myself in a position to afford a Ferrari I will definitely buy from you first
Thanks!
Absolutely!!! I talk about this channel all the time when discussing how to get the right sports car.
@@BluemanArthur Dan will save you money and tears in the risky sport car world
OK mate.
Ok
Dan, what the f**ck is a blown header?! Lmaoo! Did you mean a cracked header or exhaust leak? Sounds like an exhaust leak to me.
The headers can crack yes and they also can completely blow out
@@normalguysupercar I love ya Dan but they don’t blow out. Sorry bro. Had to bust your chops.
@@ctvette1318 I have seen them blow out. Like literally a giant hole in them
Hey, was that Meg on stage carrying off President Trump? Looks liker her :)
Lol
I like my gaskets flat like my woman.
Lol
I like my Ferrari the same way I like my women, from the early 2000’s and with aftermarket enhancements
I like my women the opposite of how I like my F430, converted to stick 😂
