    Some say that he thinks The Bill is a documentary, and that he only watches Police Chase shows in reverse.

    Ben Collin: "huh? a stinger?".. "that's cheating!"
    me: Nah, Its call a text book stop, like the commentator in police interceptors would say :)

    At the end they should have had Ben get out of the car, go up to the Stig and ask him if he knows why he pulled him over! Missed opportunity imo lol.

    So much for using a 'stinger' to gradually slow down, & bring a car to a safe stop. It must have been one of those stingers they use in the US to deflate the tyres instantly!

    • @Convoy88
      @Convoy88 8 месяцев назад +1

      Its the same.. but if you are at the edge of your grip already and your tire deflates, you spin out.

    • @jo.s7993
      @jo.s7993 8 месяцев назад

      Thankyou, yeah, I get your point. I was just really surprised that, his tyres deflated almost instantly! Imagine that happening & the car spinning out of control & hitting somebody or something. It doesn't bare thinking about. I saw a video, from the US, where a young lad in cuffs & under arrest was sat in a police car. The officer got out to talk to colleagues, & despite handcuffs, the lad managed to steal it.On a long, straight, quite, road, the police used a stinger to stop the car. It went out of control & hit the trailer of a HGV/semi -truck 100 odd yards down the road & The lad was killed , in the accident.

    Now put him in something which isn’t a sack of shit and watch him hand you large portions of Gapage Pie ;-) Just like Vickie Butler Henderson did on fifth Gear to the white hat training driver a few years back.

    Not trying to be a troll in any way, shape or from but why do British Police hang back so much in a pursuit? I know there's the risk to the public but watching police interceptors the main tactic employed was "let's wait for them to crash/decamp". The alternative method seemed to be stinger/Tpac. Why do we not use PIT manoeuvre or collisions to stop pursuit? (When applicable)

    • @ch4z_bucks
      @ch4z_bucks 6 месяцев назад

      Pit maneuvers are used albeit sparingly and they aren't formally taught to the police, they're usually self taught. The reason why is because a pit maneuver is pretty unpredictable, it's not as reliable as stinging the tyres or tpac which are trained and rehearsed to be as safe as possible, a pit can cause the suspect vehicle to swerve in any direction, flip over and roll, there's a lot of variables that can make them risky, hence why sitting back and doing a tpac or stinging the tyres is seen as a better tactic, it's outcomes are more predictable.

    No matter how many times they say Ben Collins was The Stig, I still believe it was Tiff Needel and he was hiding his identity due to his contract with Fifth Gear.

    • @VideoNarstee
      @VideoNarstee 8 месяцев назад +1

      From time to time there was "guest" stigs for when Ben was unavailable or it was a "specialist" car. Julian Bailey (ex-F1) was one. Pretty sure Tiff was one

    Enjoyed this, however, we didn't see The Ben Collins, would have been nice. Please don't put music on, it distracts from the brilliant commentry. And if there is a next time the two of you get together, Ben should be driving the same Police car as yourself. See who has the upper hand then. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this video! xxx
