Calheta is a sandy beach resort with white sand, on the southwestern coast of Madeira. The beach and marina are 30 km from Funchal and a 10-minute walk from the town of Calheta, which means "Small Bay". Calheta beach is popular because of its golden sand, making it one of the best beaches in Madeira.
Calheta should definitely be on your list of top 10 things to do in Madeira. It has good facilities for swimming and sunbathing, and Airbnb and hotels in Calheta are easy to find. Getting to Calheta from Funchal is easy as there is a regular bus service. Other sandy beaches in Madeira can be found in Machico, Prainha, Seixal and of course Porto Santo.

Even though I was not born in the UK my family heritage comes from England. I wish my mother were still a live. She had all the genealogy information that dated back many years. She even traveled to England.

Hi there friend, this was in July, but we've also visited in September, December and January and whilst a little cold in the winter we still swim most days. Not everyone would swim in November for sure but you can still get some lovely days.
