- The leader of the Wagner mercenary group has recorded an expletive-ridden video in which he personally blames Russia's top defence chiefs for losses suffered by fighters in Ukraine.

In the extraordinary two-minute clip, Yevgeny Prigozhin can be seen pointing to roughly three dozen bodies that he says are those of the Wagner fighters, before starting to shout, calling out the Russian defence minister, Sergei Shoigu, and the chief of the Russian armed forces, Gen Valery Gerasimov. He then unleashes personal insults directed at Shoigu, a longtime ally of Vladimir Putin. 'You scum sit there in your expensive clubs. Your kids are all getting off on life, recording their little RUclips videos,' Prigozhin says, referring to Shoigu’s son-in-law Alexey Stolyarov, a popular fitness blogger.

So, this is an attempt to go over the MoD and appeal directly to the pro war nats. Risky, and he should consider a ground floor office. But if MoD is starving his unit just to reduce his influence, this is a way to counter it.

Say what you want about him, but one thing we can say about him is that he loves his fighters
a real leader is the one at the frontlines with his troops. Prygoshyn and Wagner didnt know the bloodbath they would be getting involved in. They way the ukraine war has shifted in tactics and numbers from 24.02.22 is astonishing. Of course they are to blame for a lot of warcrimesm just as the Russian army is. Say what you want but Prygoshin cares more about his men than Putin does for the Russian People.

I find hard to describe the feeling of dread that creeps in when you can understand as a foreigner about 90% of what he says without subtitles and mat' (I study Russian since 2013). No foreign subtitles can describe the sheer fury of a Russian madman who has gone ballistic.

Members of Wagner are not legal combatants, and thus have no protection under international law.
Since there are plenty of videos (that Ukrainian soldiers have surely seen) of Wagner torturing and executing captives, I think a member would probably think twice before surrendering considering the retaliation he might be subjected to in light of those videos.
