Best X Games vert contest in years! Amazing runs from basically everyone, tons of variation, and the commentary booth is so much better with Tony being familiar with all the runs and able to keep the audience informed compared to the last year's announcers just yelling "Oh!" every time someone landed something.
Perfectly said. All the skateboarding events were cast very well this year!
This feels like a new golden age of vert. All these guys are throwing massive tricks, and doing it with their own style -- I've never been happier to be a fan, and never wanted to be a judge less, lol.
What a vert final! Almost everyone landed a solid run, the judges were on point, the commentary was incredible - I'm gonna be rewatching this a couple of times throughout the week. Vert is back!
The best X games vert contest in years of course, Tony and Jason are great too, the judges were fair, etc. This year was on another level 👏🙌🔥

moto and agusto are both so underrated!! with dudes like jimmy and damestoy in the mix and now gui coming up i feel like they get overlooked a lot but they have the most insane, individual, unique and technical bags of tricks and they go so big! two real underrated rippers if you ask me

Nah...it takes a specific skill to do commentary in any venue and he doesn't have it
great to see such a big crowd for a vert contest. I feel like for a few years people forgot how sick vert skating is. I'm glad it gets more attention again. Tony Hawk sure does his part.
My son didn't seem in to sports until ! I handed him a sk8board then wow got me out there again 44 dropping in launching and landing vert with many injuries lol we both still going hard we love all of you from the best to the beginner LET'S GO DROP IN!
INSANE! .. always been a street skater but im finding the Vert comps more exciting to watch now. .. less messing around and repetitive runs. certain street guys do the same tricks over and over for decades.
It's one of the greatest X Games I have ever seen, and it's good to see the fans back in the stands rooting on these incredible athletes. Every event was amazing, especially vert.
you can tell how proud tony is of all these dudes with them training at his ramp, super wholesome
i cant put into words how thankful i am to have jason and tony this year instead of gary "another 540 variation" rodgers!! not only do these dudes actually know what transition tricks are called, they also know about the skaters and the history of the event!! such a gigantic improvement from last year

It’s crazy I grew up with jimi in bexley Ohio. I skated street and he obviously loved vert and park . I can’t believe I skated with one of the best skaters of all time before the fame. It makes me even more proud of him. Congrats jimi from ty, Daniel, Maddy and Bobby b

I've been watching most of the vert contests in the last few years with mostly these same skaters and that was the best one everyone was on fire nailing so many tricks. Was great having Tony announcing also because he actually knows all the tricks and NBD's plus he get's so stoked.

Can someone explain what made Jimmy's NBD so amazing? Clearly from the reactions of the commentators it was mind-blowing, but I feel like I don't know skating enough to really appreciate it -- does adding a tailgrab to a trick make it that much harder? What makes it a "MacKenzie?" To be clear, super sweet-looking trick, but my uneducated self isn't seeing what made it so much more special than the stuff everyone else was throwing.
Tailgrab is possibly the hardest grab to do when you’re spinning but more importantly he‘s doing the 720 to fakie, ie he‘s landing backwards. That’s insanely hard, maybe fewer than 5 skaters have ever landed one. I can actually only think of Bucky Lasek and Bob Burnquist and they both did it with an indie grab.
Every single run is some of the best VERT skating I’ve ever seen.
Thank God there was a commentor change.. it has been painful to listen to the contest for years

So brusco did a kickflip melon 540 to 720 to indy 360 to switch then a switch 540. That's probably one of the hardest technical combos on vert ever seen. He's been robbed of 2 golds to wilkins by doing technical combos vs Linear tricks no combos

So ueda has to come up with an explanation of why they gave a comp to wilkins who did no tricks in combos only did a nbd 720 variation. Vs bruscos 720 to indy 360 to switch 540 combo. Its like were watching sloan 3 years ago shout how!?!?! When they gave wilkins a higher score for the same run hes been doing for 7 years. Its just not fair to pros like scharr or khury who can do more technical combos vs wilkins who can only do linear 540s and a kickflip melon.
This was an amazing vert final! Several of these guys could've got gold with the runs they put down! But Jimmy earned it baby! 🥇🛹 Hats off to all the boys!
