  • Hello everyone - Welcome to my RUclips Channel - The Pottery Corner, coming to you from my studio in Chichester, on the South Coast of England. In this video I demonstrate how to make and use texture for your own pottery by creating designs from household items. By avoiding the commercially produced textured rollers and stamps and using your own texture designs you will creature unique stamps to use time and again in your own work - almost like a signature! Cheap to make and easy to use, you can quickly build up an assortment of unique stamps for use with slabs, thrown work or whatever you are creating. I hope you find it useful. Apologies for the sneeze! My work is available to buy on my website via www.thepotterycorner.co.uk together with details of the courses available at the studio. Do subscribe to my channel for further top tips and also to watch the kiln opening videos from The Pottery Corner. Look forward to seeing you again soon

    My husband found a huge discontinued wallpaper sample book that has textured wallpaper in it and it is absolutely amazing to have so many textures. Some are deeper than others but I definitely won’t be seeing any pots like mine anywhere and I love that.

    This is unlike any other making textures stamps I’ve seen! I absolutely love the ones with the cut outs in the center! I will be making some today!!
    Years ago my husband got me a wallpaper sample book that had been discontinued and the pages are huge!! About 24”x36”! It is my absolute favorite thing that I use in my pottery!! The pages have a very light coating over them that makes them very durable, they are meant to be painted on. I use cornstarch on the papers and press them into my clay.

    Thank you. Very useful as always. I have a friend who uses bits of old lace, she makes some amazing things.
    When you make the large rollers, do you carve them out while they are still flat or after making them into a roller shape? I can't wait to have a go at this!

      @thepotterycorner  3 года назад +1

      Hi Claire. I make the roller, let it get to leather hard and then carve. Glad you're finding it useful 👍
