If I was locked in prison with a Pac-Man machine, and they told me I would not be released until I played a perfect game of Pac-Man, I would have a life sentence.
There's quite a few other patterns for both getting 1600s on all the boards plus the last boards where the power pill only reverses the ghosts...the last pattern here may have been chosen for speed... I've seen a much "safer" pattern.... although if you screw up the timing, free handing the last board to completion is always a challenge.
Pacman is the hardest game I ever played because 1.its a 4 on 1 advantage 2.the ghosts get faster as the stages progress 3.the power pellet timer gets lower and lower until it does nothing at all
Also the power pellet only no longer makes the ghosts edible, but throughout the game it will still force them to move away from you, so it remains useful
There is a certain pattern to completing this game, once it's memorized. As the game progresses, the game gets faster and the time for the ghost monsters become blue shortens after you digest an energizer pellet. It's skill that matters.
I played Pac-Man contemporaneously (in 1981) exactly once, as a young kid, and recall getting to level four. I'm still not very good at the original Pac-Man. On the other hand, I held the worldwide best scores in Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, the last game Toru Iwatani put his personal fingerprint on. Go figure.
@@Asterra2 I used to get stuck on the Apple too, but with two lives I can at least reach two Galaxians, and with five lives I can get four or five of the Keys, all thanks to memorizing a damn good pattern. It takes a while but you eventually get the hang of it. Championship Edition is fun too, a very satisfying Pac-Man game.
*Chocolate Cake* I remember the official pac-man app said that the cyan one is the most complicated to predict while the orange one was random. I totally recommend that app, it's fun and you learn a lot about how the game works.

It's cool that if you watch closely enough, you can see exactly what he's doing and the tricks he uses. He knows how his movement will influence the ghosts' movement, which is why he always knows where they will go. Going through the tunnel to the other side of the screen slows the ghosts down, so they won't be too close to him.
Nice playing David. I used to be REALLY into Pac-Man, when I was 12 years old I even had created my own pattern for the 9th key on up. I'm 18 now and don't play much any more but I would like to try and memorize my old patterns and make it to the kill screen.
As a die hard fan of P-man since the get-go, i plan on watching the whole game play.. just only like an hour at a time that is. My phone will totally drain after 5 hours of full use so I'll play it smart and watch it a piece at a time until the end. I myself attempted to beat this lengedary game but the most keys i ever got to was 19 then i screwed up! I don't play the game as much as i use to like back then but when i get the chance to get into the mood and get hyped up i get in there and play Ghost Busters once again. Good luck Pacman fans out there. 👍

Holy moly. You must be a heck of a Pac-Man player. I am visually impaired, and I love the game myself. The way I know what is happening is by sound. The intermission music is quite catchy. LOL!
The kill screen occurs after 255 stages. They don’t really expect anyone to make it all the way to the end. The kill screen is just half a stage, with the other half corrupted due to the system running out of memory, so it’s impossible to complete it. You can get a few dots on the corrupted half per life, but not all of them.
Wow, the Power Pellets already become useless after less than 30 minutes of playing, didn't knew that. Obviously I never even got that far :) Good job!

I know this is ages after you made this comment but if you're referring to him dying you have to die on the final screen to get the max score, clearing the board with every life until you are out of lives, the game doesn't have a programmed end it just stops when you run out of lives. Or if you're talking about the corrupted screen, that's just something that happens on the final screen as the memory fills up - it is used as a signal that you're nearly at the end of the run by the community.
What happens to the counter when you get the key at about 1:15:00? The points racked up the high score, but the 1up score reverted back to about 1500 and change? Is there a limit to the 1up digits and if so how do you tally the 3,000,000+ high score?
At level 256, once you are done with the pellets, you go the empty space.. it ends as PAC man meets his family and then dies. The ghosts win at the end

That definitely makes things much easier, not saying that it's still not hard, requiring lots of memorization.
DethHasArrived While it's true the ghosts don't change after level 20, and does help with the pattern, Pacman is slower than on the earlier levels. That alone makes it harder to complete them, especially if you make a mistake. It would be a whole other game if every level had the ghosts turn blue.

So how much of this is pattern memorization? 100%? Is there some part reaction to this or is it literally only memory? I'm asking because it seems like the ghost movements are almost identical each board, but not completely. So there possibly is some form of randomisation right?
Up to the 9th key is when you can do the same pattern until the split screen. Some other stages have the same pattern tho like the 2 melons and 1st apple
