The Melee announcer already had that echo in his voice, so him saying the dreaded words, especially with his tone of voice, makes it all the more chilling.
Melee was my favorite, sounded like a badass Villain who motivates you to continue the fight, yet you give up, and very creeply says "GAME OVER." as he is about to end the world.

Melee (it’s just scary. Just horrifyingly black. 2 times worse than 64’s.) Brawl (Subspace [N I G H T M A R E F U E L . This doesn’t look like Smash Bros. It looks like Metal Gear Solid, if Metal Gear Solid went to the extreme and just make it horrid red. This is literally an M RATED GAME. When I saw the thumbnail for this game over from gameovercontinue, I QUICKLY swiped away and was scarred FOR LIFE. 100 times more scary than all those combined. Brawl’s Subspace game over is the scariest one. Considering HOW REALISTIC the trophy of Mario is as he falls on the ground around nothing but DARKNESS (for the Nintendo stinking WII), that just makes it creepier. This doesn’t look like Smash Bros at all.
