- Screen KOs has been around ever since the first Super Smash Bros and has changed over time all the way to Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Smash Bros Wii U and Smash Bros Ultimate are similar but you can see a great graphics comparison between the two games. A Screen KO is basically when the character flies above the blast zone and goes splat into the screen!

Wow, the Screen KOs before 4 don't even look like the character's are hitting the screen, just rolling down and mildly bumping into it. Definitely a change for the better - the splat is honestly more noticeable and hilarious (though I could see someone argue against it for being distracting, too).
I found the sound effect when they hit the screen in SSB4 and Ultimate to be very annoying...
i think the splat in melee wasn't that bad, hitting the screen back first would hurt....but not as much as hitting the screen face first

@@MarioSonic2010 they added the splat to make it last as long as the star KO. But ironically, in smash 4 the screen KO is actually slightly longer then the star KO, so it was so funny when people blamed star KO for delaying a kill when in reality it was the screen KO in that game XD. The problem is that they added the balst KO into the random mix as well isntead of it just being for the last 5 seconds or at a certian launch speed threshold it's guaranteed.
You basically described Sheik's Screen KO in Brawl,she's just rolling down and barely touching the screen.

A useless channel that has no purpose of existing. I think it’ll be similar to the piranha plant hat for the miis except the hat will cover the entirety of Kirby’s body. I hope they do something else though, because that’s kinda boring.

I remember laughing a lot with my brother when Screen KOs happens. But at that time, I ignored what made Falco’s Screen KOs so funny. I know now: He’s a bird. Birds can’t see glass. So, it’s a bit funny to see Falco looking like "Hey! What’s going on? On what am I?!"
Melee and brawl are different.
Melee characters fall into their backs on the screen. You can see they change from the tumble animation to their backs hitting against a wall.
Brawl characters just tumble through, kinda like 64 but with a little camera vibration.
At least on Melee you can tell they're hitting something.

If you play on flat zone in melee
Flat Zone has a different screen ko animation
(think of it as another version of Brawls Screen KO but the character isnt facing the screen,they spin sideways like they normally do)
For anyone who doesn't know, Super Smash Bros. 4 has a different Screen KO between the 2 versions. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, the characters get stuck on the screen like the Wii U version, but they don't look like they're being pressed against the screen.

They changed it so much. In Smash 64, they just fall between the stage and the screen. In Melee and Brawl, they bounce off the screen. In Smash 4 and Ultimate, they actually hit the screen and slide down. Also, notice how in Melee, their animation is interrupted when they hit the screen, causing them to ALWAYS face away from the screen when they bounce off of it, whereas in Brawl their animation is not interrupted and as a result, they either face towards the screen or the side.

Honestly the original screen KO is pretty forgettable. When I played brawl, I didn’t even know screen KOs existed. It wasn’t until I played smash 4 when I noticed that screen KOs were a thing.
