Urban decay can be so mesmerizing especially coupled with machinery tearing down large amusement rides. I could totally see myself eating dinner on those picnic benches and watching giant structures slowly disappear.

I couldn't agree more. I love watching videos of abandoned parks and watching what becomes of them over time. Still, as mesmerizing as it is, It's always sad to see it get torn down.

To think what's in the demo workers' mind, Tearing down the very rides they loved as kids.

That would be so sad! They would most likely be able to take a small token of the ride like a screw or small part if the ride was scrapped to save and to remember the ride.

when they did stop operation for those rides?

The slingshot in the last few months. I’m not sure for the other rides but I’ve never witnessed the star flyer or shot tower operate while living in Orlando for the past 6 years.

IMO, Fun Spot should buy that shot tower and put it in one of their parks. It would get way more usage.

I wish but I don’t think it is in a operational state. The ride has been abandoned for atleast 6 years, probably much longer and it only holds 4 riders. If the ride were to be rehabbed, it most likely would cost so much money that it would make more sense to just buy a new tower. Plus this was the first one in the world so being a prototype it may have additional problems. As much I would love for someone to save it so I could ride it, I think it’s doomed.

@@Kingdakev that's a damn shame. I wish this park actually invested in its property more, but the lack of any unique attractions in the area and the inconsistent ride openings probably didn't help them bring in cash. I might have actually gone if they actually ran the shot tower or did any significant renovation at all.

@@sonimatic i couldn't agree more! The shot tower would have been the only thing to draw me there. Slingshots are fun and all but once you've been one, the rest are the same.

    Why is it being removed
And it has me wondering what’s the future of the rest of the star flyers because this was the original one right?

    • @Kingdakev

The park shut down. I’m not sure if the star flyer is the oldest but I know the shot tower is

@@Kingdakev maybe Cedar Fair purchased it (the star flyer) for one of their smaller parks like Dorney Park or even Michigans Adventure

@@coasterfair2602 honestly it would probably be a lot easier for cedar fair to buy a new one. they're not super expensive and if this is a prototype, it most likely will be plagued with problems, if it wasn't it is now due to its current state. Just to refurbish the ride will most likely cost a pretty penny as well. Who knows though, it's not impossible. :)
