If Chang came to Great America in 2011, would there be enough available space for Maxx Force to be installed in 2019? 🤔

I rode Robin in 1999, but still remember it well. Both sides were open, but Batman was having those launch abort issues you mentioned. As a kid, I didn't understand why our wait time increase on Robin every time it happened. I really enjoyed the ride, but the 3hr wait was just too much. I'm not sure if it changed in later years, but back then it was the ride 90s additude era teens went on to get away from their families for a few hours to do things like smoke, make out with their gfs, and stick gum on the walls. Does anyone else remember the station building walls being 90% covered in gum?

Loved this video! I got to ride Chang once in I think 2008. In 2020 and 2022 I spent a lot of time performing as a juggler at Great Adventure and I rode Green Lantern a lot. One of my favorite rides in the park! The forces are nuts! I'm really thankful I got to ride it on it's last day of operation and am sad to see this one go 😭

6Flags will spend millions creating a new coaster at Great Adventure but barely $10 cleaning the bathrooms.

I never liked the decision to put Chang as Great American scream machine's replacement. While I know that Vekoma and SF were not on good terms back then with each other, I thought that the soft restraint trains should have been purchased and used on Great American scream machine. When this was added, I just thought this was more of the same thing for the park. They already had Medusa. Having an arrow looper provided more variety to the park and having this. If the park truly wanted to have another stand-up coaster, taking into account how painful B&M stand-ups are, this could be accomplished by having a season or two of swapping the trains between a floorless coaster and a stand-up coaster in different parks. A different strategy Six Flags could have followed was to install Chang in a smaller park like Six Flags St Louis that didn't have either a stand-up or a floorless and swap the trains between it and Medusa For a season or two. This would be a new experience on a existing ride for two different parks. After that point, they can swap them back. They could have followed a similar strategy by moving scream! From magic Mountain to another park like Six Flags America and do a season or two of swapping the floorless and stand up trains between it and Riddler's Revenge.

i remember going to six flags in 2003. chiller was a coaster i wanted to go on but it was closed and i never got to go on it. i did however get to go on mr freeze in six flags over texas. i enjoyed it very much. it blows my mind how unprepared they were with this coaster. and when problems arose why they didn’t fix it the right way. if they knew what the issue was why didn’t address it. these people are suppose to be engineers. how do you not know how to fix it.

Been on Lantern several x's. It never impressed me. We would always skip it if on a time crunch. Don't like stand up's anyway.

Great job with the footage on this one! Chang was outstanding, and the fact a relatively tiny park in Kentucky was getting attractions like it was amazing. I feel like that as rides have gotten smoother and tamer though, stand ups have really fallen out of favor. In the 90s, you rode everything a bit defensively, which made Chang and others a great experience likely smoother than most of the other rides you would have been on - T3, Thunder Run, Vampire, etc. Today though, it's one of the most rough. Likely it wasn't converted due to the lack of success converting Mantis, which is too bad. I loved the layout, and am glad I got to Great Adventure to get on it one last time.

It's still somewhat upsetting that they couldn't send it to a smaller park that could use it, fix any issues with it (like the ball joints supports) convert it to a floorless, put vest restraint on it and it would be great for that park.

Kentucky kingdom my home park here. I never rode this when it was called Chang. I rode it onse when it was called green lantern when I went in 2018.

I was fortunate enough to visit Great Adventure for the first time this October where I got to ride both Green Lantern and Ka. It is very sad both are being removed and I hope SF/CF handle future ride closures in a more professional manner, as the parks are nothing without the guests that visit them.

I have to wonder if the same reason SF Great America didnt install "Chang" is the same reason it was scraped and not moved. I wonder if there was a resaon Chang was not covered to a floorless. If B&M refused or declined to covert Chang to a floorless for GAm and having Iron Wolf already, the plan was changed to move to GAd,. Now 13 years later if Green Lantern was moved it would have to stay a standup and that made no financial sense.

Will the S&S logo be on the headrest in the park? It seems a little out of place to have the manifacturer logo on the ride, but I don't know anything.

It has a ghetto crowd with a bad reputation for long lines. I lived near it for the last 10 years and have never had the desire to go.

I rode green lantern several years and it was ok. I wasn't the hugest fan of it but Kingda ka broke my heart. I don't plan to attend 6Flags GA next year I think it will be a lame year till new coaster 2026 if they can open it on time. FLASH is new but it's a single train roller coaster so que lines will be long wait for a boomerang coaster. KA may have had its problem but the merger was primarily the worse thing for Ka.

I dont subscribe to many coaster tubes because the market has gotten so saturated with them and some people just say off the wall things but yours im subscribing too. Keep them coming. Loved the batman and robin the chiller episode.

. I experienced it with and without the zero g rolls but the batman side never opened each time I was there. Now that I know it was more than power related valleying issues, and included fractured wheel bogey assemblies, in this day and age, I don't miss it. Never got to ride l the batman side ever but finally rode Mr freeze at SFOT this year so I'm happy with that. Thanks for this vid. I didnt know SF tried so hard to get it up to par besides the track replacement.

All of you who are sad and/or outraged about Kingda Ka's upcoming removal, now you know how I felt about Kentucky Kingdom getting rid of Chang. The fact that ppl are saying it got rougher after the relocation (along with opinions that they liked it better as Chang and it going from being the biggest and most unique coaster at the park to just one big coaster out of many other big coasters) pretty much affirms my opinion that it should have never gotten relocated at all. Kinda wonder how much longer it could have lasted if it had stayed at Kentucky Kingdom. They could have expanded the waterpark in T3's spot and put Deep Water Dive over there.

Great video man! Thanks to the rumors, I got to ride it the last weekend in operation with my gf. I thoroughly enjoyed the layout and the novelty of standing up. I can't believe it's a 2 min + ride. It felt so fast! Shorter people will hit the head rest a lot. Men have to decide whether they want to sacrifice their nuts or knees lol. I went with the knees, but it was well worth the 1 ride I did. Really wish they could have converted it to a floorless coaster. 2024 was such a disaster for sfga that I would quickly run out of wishes lol.

Green Lantern, oh boy this one's interesting. I remember when I was eleven and Green Lantern had just been opened at GA. The hype for this coaster was real, I never saw the appeal until I actually rode on it in August '24. I was terrified of Green Lantern as I hadn't rode a coaster with any inversions up until this point. But I had a friend with me who wanted to ride it, he already almost made me blackout on the slingshot. We didn't wait very long although I refused front row. We did second row and... let's just say I conquered my fear of being inverted on a Rollercoaster. It was pretty smooth when we rode it. I liked it although my buddy did not. It was a really odd concept to me with a stand up coaster, but honestly Green Lantern was pretty good. Shame they are cutting it up, even relocation or floor less train conversion would probably have kept it running for another decade. B&Ms are pretty reliable in that sense. Never knew it used a train from MM. But Green Lantern will be missed. If I ever go back to GA after they build that mystery 2026 coaster, I got to try Medusa, Batman, Superman,and El Toro and round two on Nitro, plus Flash. At least I got to ride on GL and KK.

I rode this in August 1998. I got such a bad headache from it I would never ride it again! And Sarajevo is pronounced Sarah Yay Vo.

Got to ride green lantern on my first and only visit to great adventure last year, so glad I got on KA.

Great video! I was a supervisor for Green Lantern this season. Interestingly when it operated at Great Adventure it only ran with 5 block zones, the service & safety were programmed together as well as the transfer & waiting. I also never knew X train was from Riddler. Very cool!

I had such a bias against this ride because it replaced Great American Scream Machine. Still, I hated how painful it was on my legs.

I remember riding Chang and it was buttery smooth! It was way better than Mantis. When it was Six flags we would go there and get a season pass for only 45 bucks! Then we would go to geagua lake and great america! Twisted Sisters was the best ride at that time!

I would have loved to see this coaster live on with the floorless trains and the newer restraints. It had a really good layout. It was just a little too forceful for a stand-up coaster. It makes me sad seeing a b&m laying as a pile of rubble. Reminds me of the dueling dragon Days.
