I think schlatts voice back then was just him trying to sound more kid friendly if that makes sense which is why he sounds different than he does now where he doesn’t care anymore
If you watched his OpenTTD videos you can tell he wasn't scared to be edgy, considering the existence of "D. YKE" and "Transatlantic slave trade"

i believe schlatt was putting on a slightly more casual voice for some of these videos, and at certain points he sounds a lot closer to how he sounds now (see the end of "elon r u ok"), but even in the many private videos and pre-smplive stream clips of schlatt he still does sound much different from now. i believe that schlatt (subconciously or not) slowly decided to lean into the accent more during the smplive and wii game era until it just became his natural voice
