CoconutRTS does the same, but just swaps games instead. It’s definitely the best approach, they seek the attention and it gives them almost none.
Realistically who the fuck has like 3 platforms to switch to? Like not everyone has PC, PS4 (with PSplus) an XBOX (with live), a switch with online, and a phone. Besides, we shouldn't have to jump through hoops to enjoy a game

@@darkstryker628 dark souls was on a similar path and then the worst happened where hackers found a way to take control over other players pcs basicly hijacking it, which forced them to close it for a few months (multiplayer, single player worked). With ip leaks and ddosing that could maybe be possible here too.

There really shouldn't be a DC penalty unless they introduce a ranked queue. DC penalties in what amounts to casual playlists is so detrimental for any game, they introduced them to the casual playlists in rocket league a while ago and nobody enjoyed the experience. I feel like maybe half of the people who play dead by daylight don't care about the meta or trying really hard, they're just playing the game for fun and at this point it feels like the DC penalty serves cheaters more than anything else. If someone leaves early in my game I don't care, maybe we can win with 3 survivors or maybe it's an L but there's always going to be another game so ..
They should keep the DC penalty the reason they hack is because they want the DC penalty removed. And by removing it you'll be giving them what they want.

Almost Every. Single. solo game I’ve had recently somebody gives up on first hook or dcs after their first down. I’m not dealing with 1 or 2 let alone 3 dcs every damn game. It’s a worthless bandaid anyway, it doesn’t fix any actual problem.

DC penalties should only apply to the first person who leaves, not the rest.

To be fair to Demi, commenting on current DBD stuff isn't Demi's thing. At all. He makes funny build videos and stuff like that, but it'd be out of place for him to get involved in community based stuff. It's not his style and I respect that he doesn't feel the need to get involved in stuff outside of playing the game. Creators who want to talk about it should, but we also shouldn't expect all content creators to want to.
Survivor mains are generally less affected by cheaters as they are harder to target and snipe, and the vast majority of cheaters are survivors. Also, their content tends to be more lighthearted and less current event based. All that said, I agree. They should stand up together for what this game needs.

valorant has a super effective anitcheat (compared to dbd) I feel like there shouldn't be any second chances and if the offence is great enough the person gets perma banned right off the bat. The report system on dbd is a joke, the amount of times I have been harassed in game and chat is insane and all those people still have their accounts and platforms
Valorant's anticheat is spyware running at kernel level. It's a rootkit.
It listens to microphone audio too, doesn't just check for cheating.
Apex Legends on the other hand - Also uses EasyAntiCheat like DBD does, but doesn't have nearly as bad of a cheating problem. Which should be very telling as to what the actual problem with dbd is, because it certainly isn't the choice of anticheat

@Gaby Epic is the easiest way to hack into DBD cause it has zero security. Shitty platform that only got attention cause of free games. Some hacks don't work for a while on Steam after the game updates cause on Steam needs an bypass to work.

I'd love to know these cheaters keep getting away with it. I realize it can be hard to track them down sometimes, but surely there has to be something that can be done on behaviors part.
For better or for worse, I haven't encountered a cheater within my over 1k hours playtime in a 2 year span. Streamers are just targeted by those.

I am by no means a streamer or a known content creator but I've met several cheaters in my matches. While yes this is a big issue for streamers it is also for those who aren't (majority of the playerbase)

Sad thing is that I'm not a streamer/content creator and I almost always run into cheaters and hackers most of my games. Plus, I am in the high MMR areas. This shit needs to stop.🤬
Hackers are loving all the free advertising they are getting this week I bet. Ya'll need to learn how to change your IP address, delay your streams for a bit, be less of a target. Cue whining about blah blah blah, twitch loves to be live, yep you're all learning why live TV isn't really live when its big time.
I'm glad to see content creators come together to try to fix a game we all play and love. It's sad to see it get to this point but as you all have said. Something needs to be done. Whether it's cheaters or extremely laggy players who rubber band all over the place and hit you 10 feet away. There should be some sort of connection test that also checks for any extra programs running thru the Internet connectivity test and disable the ability to play if there's excruciating ping periodically. We aren't talking random drops in frames on slight jumps in ping for a second, we're talking the extra ping that vpns make you experience while playing. Since hackers are the biggest users of vpns playing on this game and most others as well. It can't be that hard to add a couple extra checks that include an internet connectivity check ping and relay. I don't want to say they shouldn't allow vpns but if they fix the problem and no longer allow vpns and then they can check to see if that IP is bouncing and automatically disable connection for that player until they get their stuff figured out.

Because streamers and content creators should have then more rights or more ways of getting away with dodgy shit. I understand your problem i really do. But if a company is selective in thier favoritism is legit a really bad attitude ( i would almost say childish). The cheaters have become a problem and yes i am fully for hardware and IP bans. But the dbd devs dont care they have milked alot of people already with probaly millions and now they just wait it out and they do bring new content but they dont fix the main problems about the game. This game is unbalanceable in the first place, and there is no way to stop these cheaters with people getting punished for leaving matches and that can result in a ban aswell. The system you mentioned with the RIOT / Csgo match review is 100% a good idea. Besides favoritism is just corruption and unequally behaviour towards non-content creators. This is in all times 100% WRONG. Everyone deserves the same chances and same threatments.
Simple solution. Allow you to choose which systems you can crossplay with. If you can just turn off PC but still play with Xbox/PS/Switch it'll get rid of this.
I know Streamers are mainly PC but it's probably the only solution.
No DC penalty for killers. They should at least try it for a while. Maybe some kind of flagging system where you can vote in-game or tell the server that someone is cheating, and the post-EGC timer changes to 60 seconds or some garbage.

I bet if I check reddit right now you will still get a ton of ppl claiming they never see cheaters ;) Sure the blatant ones are only harassing streamers, but the subtle ones... all over the place. DBD is a friggin cesspit of cheaters.

there's so many changes they can do to make this issue easier, if not getting a better anti-cheat, at the very LEAST program the system to understand that if X happens Y amount of times, that's impossible and should disconnect the person that's spamming an action in game
This kinda stuff makes me so upset that they used to give out hardware bans to toxic creators (such as Ochido), but for some reason they aren't handing them out for cheaters who are actually completely ruining the enjoyment of this game for the community.
i was held hostage yesterday. I couldnt get to hatch because i was body blocked against a wall. Stood there for about 20 minutes before i suspect their account was banned

So strange, every match I play CS:GO there is a cheater for the past 8 months (1-3 games a week).
Never seen anyone cheat in DBD personally, is this mostly a higher-tier thing since they want to be red-ranked to pair with streamers? I'm really low rank/don't play much.
Sadly they don't even have to be same rank. They *pay* to have some shitty software that lets them inject themselves into chosen lobbies.
Basically BVHR needs to hurry up before hackers kill their game after they managed to somewhat fix it with the perk overhauls.

i was playing myers, all survivors got downed immediately but one of the survivors was bubba, shit was trippy asf but that’s the worst hacker i’ve seen so far. hope it gets fixed soon

I'd advise streamers to branch out to other games.
Honestly, something amazing would be removing collision on hooked survivors, a small change that would give cheaters a harder time. Maybe even a timer after the EGC that automatically ends the game. Sure this wouldn't be as strong a sollution, but it would completely remove the ability to hold the game hostage and reduce that cheat where they remove all of the non-basement hooks.

I know this was posted a year ago but I just wanted to agree with you on the hardware ban thing. I don't think IP ban can do much cause of so many people using VPN, but a hardware ban might work. Especially since I've encountered enough cheaters who even stream their cheats and openly admit to getting account and IP banned but then they just get themselves a new account or a new IP and they're right back at it.
They didn't even lose anything as they can use the cheats to get all the perks, skins, items, etc. right back onto the new account as well. I would think that is probably would gets under BHVR's skin the most as these people are basically stealing BHVR's property by not paying the the skins and characters they use hacks to unlock.

BHVR does hardware ID ban. Much like an IP ban though, its easily spoofable.
It's not just streamers. I'm literally just tryna play the game and I ended up with a 30 minute ban from dcing from consecutive hackers, some trying to hold me hostage. Killer is like a gamble now.
OR please hear me out, KEEP the dc penalty, BUT don’t have it exponentially increase the more you dc. So keep it 5 mins overall if you want to dc as many times as you want.

Problem with "Overwatch" suggestion is that BHVR themself said tha it is impossible to implement the match rewatch system because its to much old spaghetti code to rewrite

I've encountered an obvious cheater once, maybe twice, in my year of playing, but I see others encounter them all the time!

right now, the game is in a really bad place. That's why cheaters feel justified in their cheating; killers are oppressive, survivors are leaving the game to the point that the BP bonus is nearly 100% on the survivor side, and, this shouldn't be a surprise, in an asymmetrical multiplayer game, where survivors make up 80% of the match players, YOU NEED MORE SURVIVOR PLAYERS THAN KILLER PLAYERS.
2 things need to happen. Get rid of dc penalty’s, and make end game collapse force the match to end even against hackers
As long as big streamers continue to stream DBD, BHVR will do nothing.
If you want change, the big streamers need a complete boycott of DBD content. That is the only way BHVR will change anything.
You are dealing with this frustration of your own volition and complaining about the thing while still ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING in the thing, is hypocrisy at its finest.
I probably don't have nearly as many hrs in dbd as you do (I only have 3k) but DC penalties should absolutely exist to punish players who frequently DC. I don't love it when I have a teamate DC, and it impacts my match negatively. BHVR needs to have a real solution regarding cheating in-game. Either by using a more intrusive anticheat, or by some sort of player run overwatch system for whitelisted players as you suggested.

I think this is great with all of these recent videos from RUclipsrs, about cheaters being an issue. Hopefully it will push the devs to announce or do something about this serious issue.
Take out DC Penlalty and replace DC with AI Bots for survivors and killers.
Other games do this. A bot killer could still be somewhat of a challenge and a bot Survivor could still be somewhat of help. Plus, it can stop hackers from holding people hostage since they can't get any "fun" out of holding AI killer hostage.
Also make it so people can see if they DCed until endgame. So unless the hackers are Stream sniping.. they have no idea of the killer is a human player or a bot until the game ends.

I've always thought that dbd should implement some kind of flag system such as, "if end-game collapse expires, the game will end after a short period." Or some kind of event that auto catches and bans cheaters such as, "if player's hook duration extends past a certain time, they are automatically removed from the game with a temp or permanent ban applied." The max amount of time a person can be on hook in a game is 120 seconds to die on hook and an addition 180 seconds if all 3 survivors use reassurance for each hook stage. This is a total of 300 seconds or 5 minutes. If you get held hostage and walk away, the cheater will be removed or banned within a 5-6 minute period and you can continue playing.
About being locked into a match by a hacker (for 2hours?)

Since most hackers seem to buy their DBD accounts for a few cents in bulk, wouldn't that give BHVR incentive to NOT fix the issue? Not for the money, but for the amount of cd keys being reportedly sold.
I was carrying a survivor down the basement one time and this other survivor somehow ran ahead down the basement (with a flashlight), I turned my back when they were shining it and they got the flashlight save just like that. It was the most sus flashlight save I've seen.
I'm genuinely wondering why people who play this game put up with this horseshit, if people weren't clinically addicted to this game they wouldn't give BHVR a pass every single time they refuse to actually put effort into making it playable. Do you think any other game company would get away with lying about fixing an IP leak vulnerability?
Honestly, there's only one thing they need to do to make all these ridiculous cheats outright impossible: have the servers actually know what they're doing. Right now servers are blind, which is why people can say they have all perks and it works - it shouldn't work. People say they're flying, the server should recognize that as an impossible movement and reject it.
The game, as of right now, essentially doesn't have actual servers, it just has latency increaser relays which favor a side on specific interactions (pallet interaction favors survivor, window interaction favors killer, etc). It has no idea of what is this "Dead by Daylight" thing and no idea of what is going on, which is why we don't have replays, and also why it's impossible for Behavior to check old matches (therefore requiring someone to make a video for them).
No client-side anti-cheat is perfect, but you can get pretty close to perfection on server-side. The only cheats we should be handling are wallhacks and auto dead hards, everything else is cheating that the server should be able to prevent with ease.
Problem with hardware bans thay it ONLY hardwares bans if there is 3 bans on the same pc. Honestly the dev team of Milky Way made it so undetectable people who go fully blatant. They get a least 1 month play time. And Bhvr doesn’t even ip ban. Like what? 😭

Overwatch won't happen. The reason cheating is so god damn easy is exactly because there is zero in-game tracking. BHVR has no idea survivor instantly heals, flies in the air or hooked himself in the middle of the map.
i totally agree that dc penalty shouldn’t exist the fact that people keep getting held hostage and can’t do anything about it
Well. No Dc penalty is just a bad idea. Make it with a timer after 10 min you can dc without a penalty as survivor. For Killer lets say 5 Minutes. Otherwise the soloQ experience is just to bad because player will just dc soon they hear a nurse and for Killer it has no big downside to not put a timer, but degrinding the mmr in 20 Minutes and then they can stomp on some bad survs
I came across a subtle cheater yesterday. It was an ace. I realized they were subtly cheating when they finished a gen right next to me and I couldn't find them despite showing up within 2 seconds and there were no scratch marks (they didn't have any perks that got rid of scratch marks) and got cross map within a time frame completely unreasonable for a regular survivor. Though hey maybe I just got outplayed you would think. But uh. I saw them through a window speedhacking to be as a fast as Blight earlier in the match 💀
Please just picture dbd with no DC penalty. Rage quitting is already an issue that ruins everyones matches and it isnt a once in a blue moon issue like cheaters are for 98% of the dbd community. Only streamers are realistically being held hostage to this degree. Strong killers, perks, maps and offerings essentially become useless if the other team decides they rather try their luck at finding another lobby with easier circumstances instead sucking it up and playing with the cards they were dealt. All this to say it wouldn't solve anything for your hostage problem anyway because instead of holding you hostage in game, they instead setup bot swf accounts to target your lobbies and repeatedly join and leave your matches making it impossible to even play or have the satisfaction of holding them hostage back since it would be automated at that point. Removing the DC penalty for everyone is just about the dumbest and scariest suggestion I've heard anyone make for a game they play religiously. It should not be entertained whatsoever unless it is exclusively for large content creators because whilst some people will bitch and moan for the sake of doing so, only streamers have an audience that would naturally monitor if they are abusing their DC. Everyone else would abuse it if given the chance.
I played with one cheater a few months back, wasnt anything crazy just making themselves scream and moon jumping as survivor. It was funny as a one off thing, since they still let the killer kill them, and get hooks and what not, but seeing this is just, yikes...
cheaters are ruining games in general, not just dbd. wether it's a guy that is bad and rathers to use programs for help or an ego kid who has a sad life and seeks attention online by being an asshole, it all sucks for us. and yet i haven't seen a single company/haven't played a single multiplayer game which didn't have cheaters in it (maybe rocket league but, how would you even cheat in a football game?). it's sad how games have terrible opinions because of that and developers usually only care for money
I think only Fog Whisperers shouldn't have DC penalty because for me, i rarely go against cheaters and if i do i just dc, wait 5 minutes and play normally and by the time i face another cheater my dc penalty is back to 5 minutes so it is not a big deal. At least for me :)
If they cheat they lose their Behaviour account altogether. Like, they can never again play Dead By Daylight, by computer ID so they can't play from any associated device again.

I agree with no one should have a penalty and maybe a way they can wrok against penalty on survivors and make it a little more fair if someone dc's is that, for every 1 survivor that dc's is one gen completed automatically, but this could also bring consequences for the killer if the survivors are que'd together.
I’m like 95% sure I’ve come across that same cheater before. It was a prestige 69 Claudette with that same hair piece and legacy legs (his name on steam was Dylan because of course that’s his name lol).
