    I'd forgotten about this slightly cuddlier looking version of the Cherokee sir. Good to see it again. I still think I preferred the boxiness of the previous generation model but this one does look very well cared for and the paint finish really suits it

    Thank you Nathan and Son. Always had a liking for the Cherokee XJ and KJ because of their heritage and capabilities. They both have that Classic seven vent Jeep Grille and the KJ does the look even better with the round headlights moulded into the Bonnet , I mean Hood. I know a chap that has a 2012 CRD Limited and has no intention of changing it. Nathan's Cherokee is in very good condition and the tyres look a thousand times better than road tyres. That 3.7 V6 should be unstressed and simple and last forever with normal maintenance.
    The 4 litre straight 6 in the XJ is legendary for simply going on and on. As far as I am aware XJs are sought after in the US for Big prices. Don't know if the KJ will achieve this but, like the XJ and the Land Rover Discovery /Freelander /Range Rover, they are all designed to be used off road. Proper Off Roaders. Thank you Sir. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 года назад

      Yes sir, the XJs are very durable, especially with the famous AMC 4.0 straight six. This KJ hasn't been too bad, from what I understand. The tyres were very good for the occasional journey up the side of the road to pass obstacles.
      We had better not talk about those forbidden fuel CRD variants, sir... Someone may be watching! You certainly can't mistake this for any other make of car, can you?

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting certainly there aren't so many certified Trails Rated vehicles out there. Although the little Jeep Renegade can also be had with a Trailrated badge. As far as I know this little SUV is related to the Fiat 500X. 🤔

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 года назад

      @@seancooke4127 , that is correct, sir! The Jeep Renegade is closely related to the 500X, both are made in Italy.

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting obviously then it can go rockcrawling and Ford deep water.
      I do remember that the original Freelander with front wheel drive and part time four wheel drive was extremely capable off the road. I suppose that the Renegade has a short wheelbase which helps greatly with cresting steep hills without under carriage damage. Nice little Jeep face like KJ also.

    Reminds me of the Wrangler which of course has a 4.0 litre engine.
    It’s pretty similar to the LR Freelander in size, the back door opens the same way as it did on my Freelander(except for the “Smash your face” rear window😁). I’m amazed that you can get a Jeep Cherokee with a 3.7 engine for less than a grand...or was for the 2 litre version?
    Great review Mr Lloyd, looking forwards to the next one.

    • @nathanstevful
      @nathanstevful 3 года назад

      I paid £1450 for it 2 years ago, but I've seen a couple in Autotrader for around the £1k mark now. If you get a pre 06 plate then tax is also cheaper for both petrol and diesel.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 года назад +1

      That's right, the Wrangler had the old 4.0 AMC straight-six, same as the XJ Cherokee. I have driven a Freelander, and it felt similar in a way, but with less power and a very different type of interior.

    In the United States these were one of the least expensive Jeep's available.
    They are definitely built down to a certain price point.
    They are also far more reliable and durable than any JLR product and cost a fraction to buy maintain or repair.
    They are also just as capable off-road.
    The "Trail Rated" designation is because the vehicle met certain criteria for traction, water fording, maneuverability, articulation and ground clearance.

    • @nathanstevful
      @nathanstevful 3 года назад

      I have had it 2 years now. It required a sill repair and weld, not through rot, but due to damage from the previous owner which the garage I bought it from had covered up with sticky plastic wrap and MDF packing. The rest has just been annual maintenance, brakes etc, dreaded handbrake which decides if it wants to engage or not on a daily basis. Compared to a similar age Discovery 2 or Freelander it was a no brainer. There is no Tin worm underneath, some surface rust on the damaged areas, that's it. I inspected several land rovers before buying this and they were more expensive and rotted to the point of danger.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 года назад

      Thank you, yes, I have driven a Freelander, and they do have quite a few problems, don't they? The engines were also available in many Rover and MG models of the time... It felt like it would be very capable off road, even if I did not get a chance to test it!

    • @nathanstevful
      @nathanstevful 3 года назад +1

      You would have heart failure if mpg was constantly in view! One thing I note from the build report is the export model as this is classed, had an extra Gallon of fuel in reserve compared to a home market Cherokee/liberty. I can confirm this because I get 0 on the trip and the needle past red and still have a good 20 miles of range.

    Hi sir! Recently i bought this model jeep without a tow bar. I would like to install a tow bar, so i can travel with my horses. the hight of my jeep (bumber to ground) looks a bit higher than the original hight. I’m seeing that your jeep has a tow bar, so i would like to ask: could you maybe tell me (or perhaps measure) the bottom of the bumber to the ground for me? This will give me some extra information for the installation proces! Thankyou, great video :)
