Growing up in the Soviet Russia and, of course living through the "challenges" of untisemitism, i saw international mideastern looking students (men only). And then, years later I found out that they were terrorists in training!
Thank you very much for this interview. I was born and raised in the USSR and I remember very vividly the massive avalanche of anti-Zionist / Anti-Israel propaganda that was pouring from the Soviet media, especially TV, until about1987 (+/- one year).
We left in 1990 because it was very scary, because that propaganda spread and started to give fruits, I remember my mom made me stay hope for the fear of pogroms!!
I had an acqaintance that was the grand daughter of Jews that escaped communist Russia. But she became a Democrat and voted for the politicians who's agenda is to regress our freedom system. I wish people would stop calling the left 'progressive'.

I live in a 3rd world country ; which was once a 1st world country. Ruined by marxist terrorists (now wearing suits) with the support of many Western countries and woke ideas such as DEI ect. However, because some prominent Jews supported and were part of "the struggle" , I found it difficult to understand why my country would side with Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran (we are also part of BRICS) and launch a legal attack on Israel via the International courts. I am probably same age as Izabella and I am having total dejavu lately hearing same thesis in today's leftist movement that I used to hear growing up in Soviet Union in 70-80s. All soviet educational institutions had that propaganda as part of curriculum and we were fed so much of it and the language, created by party apparatus and bureaucrats, was so rigid and repetitive and dogmatic that I can unmistakably recognize it in today's slogans. How with all efforts of propaganda we could not be deceived and we knew that it was a set of [extremely boring] lies that had nothing to do with reality but today's youth blindly falls for it? I wish they could listen to this podcast or in general, to people who had first-hand experience living in those totalitarian societies, societies that today's youth romanticizes and advocates for.

The "student who asked" remembered the March speech strongly probably because as the first year university student she witnessed genuine student protests, but when she turned on the TV she heard: "It's the Zionists, the Fifth Column." Yes, it was a shock.
