- Caroline Glick speaks with the Chair of Urban Warfare Studies at the Modern War Institute John Spencer about, in his analysis, the wrongful comparisons between the Israel/Gaza war and other urban warfare conflicts. Spencer first made waves when he posited in several Newsweek articles that the civilian casualty number is actually quite low, that Israel was in full compliance with international law and that any comparison to urban warfare in Afghanistan and Iraq is entirely incorrect.
Spencer breaks down his arguments and explains that despite what the international community thinks Israel is actually winning the war "spectacularly".

Because the people believe the terrorists propaganda, and people and governments are complicit to Jews being killed for no reason. @@tigersforever4577It’s a morbid question, but it occurred to me when the Health Ministry of Hamas/Al Jazeera/Middle East Eye & Qatari/Iranian MSM immediately reported the numbers of deaths.
Equally the figures released have no details of the ‘missing’ presumed dead (under the rubble).
No realistic assessment can be made in such a short period of time.
A proportion of hospitalised patients who would have naturally died from disease or natural causes I suspect have also been added to the ‘death toll’ to inflate the numbers.
Likewise, the number of fighters are missing from the list including those who are Hamas but are employed by UNRWA, Hospital Staff & Press Reporters.
I scrutinise everything especially a terrorist organisation & their twisted ideology!

This is statistical proof of how careful the IDF has been with warning civilians, & helping them get out, before bombing. Israel has to bomb to find the tunnels where Hamas hides, using residential neighborhoods as human shields.

Just a short walk in the tunnel is so exhausting that it is difficult to imagine how thousands of men, women and children lived and worked in these tunnels for years with the constant fear of being shot or bombed.
The Cu Chi tunnels, an innovative response of a peasant army to their enemy’s more advanced weapons, helicopters and bombs, more than served their purpose of turning the simple peasants of the Cu Chi province into fierce warriors. The soldiers, in spite of suffering heavy losses while battling the napalm bombing of their jungles, fields and houses, fought against unbelievable odds. The US troops finally left Vietnam defeated, exhausted and bewildered. Today the tunnels are a popular tourist attraction visited by many, including Americans. It is a revered site for the Vietnamese and reminds visitors of the price of freedom
Ok so in Gaza these tunnels are not under forest cover-but where is the open space available. Where are there forests ?

What I find the most egregiously dishonest is the reports of children killed.
Nobody wants children to die. But it’s not as simple as that. I saw a BBC report where a 15 year old and an 8 year old were killed, shot. This was on the BBC website, a service I used to trust implicitly.
There was a video, one taken by a group of boys and most of them looked around the same age as the 15 year old boy who was killed. The lead photo for the article was an old photo of the 8 year old in happier times, which is kinda dishonest in itself.
Looking at the video with a dispassionate eye, the video provided by the boys looked like they were setting up to throw something, an object that was handed from one boy to the older boy who was shot, it looked exactly like an attempted ambush of a passing IDF convoy of soft skinned vehicles. They even had the phone video as one of their number was positioned to get the best video. The BBCs reporting had a diagramme of locations and the 8 year old was almost directly behind but back maybe 20 metres from the boy with the object, from the direction of the vehicle occupant who shot them.
The IDF provided a photo of an object they claimed was being held by the dead boy (the 15 year old) that looked like a pipe bomb but it could have been something more military, it was unclear. Maybe that object was planted, but the boys sure acted as if they had a weapon of some kind.
So, and I cannot say for sure this is what happened but it looked like a group of adolescent boys planned an ambush. Someone’s eight year old brother or neighbour tagged along, because of course it’s normal to let your eight year old attend a terrorist/resistance action against heavily armed conventional troops.
The soldiers noticed the boys and when one of them looked to be about to throw something they opened fire. The thrower boy and the 8 year old almost directly behind him were killed. The other boys took off (no one else was shot) and passed the video on to the government of Gaza which distributed it to news orgs.
Now, this is an awful tragedy. But it doesn’t matter how old you are, if you plan to throw a possibly explosive device at conventional troops in the middle of a war, don’t be surprised if you end up dead. So, we have two more statistics - an 8 year old and a 15 year old child were shot by the IDF.
It sounds horrible (and it is) but the IDF behaved well and within the rules of war. Whomever was responsible for the 8 year old heading off to war is responsible for that boy’s death. But all we see, unless we want to look more closely, is two more children killed.
This man should be speaking at the UN

I think this to me is one of the most informative interviews I have ever heard. John Spencer took us through urban warfare and the urban war of Hamas and what the IDF have to fight every day in Gaza. No army has ever come up against something like this before.

They have their “hasbara” (propaganda) that shuttles misinformation to make them appear as though they are innocent of the vicious and barbaric atrocities they’re committing. The destruction of Palestine and Israel’s intent on the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people began over 75 years ago.

I live in U.S., and we have always (mostly) used overwhelming force. Historically, we have not found it to be strategically useful to feed and water our enemy; that is the responsibility of the enemy government. Just because Hamas is not doing the slightest thing to maintain its citizenry does not mean that it becomes Israel's responsibility.

Seems that there is a lot of language abuse with terms such as genocide, Nazis, anti-Semite and racist and so on,thrown around out of context,creating comfusions and dividing furthermore. Israel is doing what it has to do in a dire situation that has never been dealt with before. There is so much more at play than just Hamas and the poor civilians caught in the mids of this kaos. The US had the right to attack Japan in retaliation. But most would say, two atomic bombs dropped on non military sites (cities basically ) was an overreaction. So yes, I feel bad for the pain and suffering inflicted on people who had nothing to do with the Pearl Harbor attack.
