Corporations could be more responsible & decrease plastic production. I remember when plastics were introduced in school to replace cardboard milk cartons. That was in the 1980s. Look at the explosion of trash. On a personal level, individuals can purchase biodegradable & natural items. If there's no market for plastics, companies will find other sources.
This is disgusting and so so sad . Charge the soda products a fee for clean up. They charge us .005 cents in Toronto Canada for each bag for groceries, so,why not charge coca cola and Pepsi a fee that goes towards clean ups that are run by citizens like this man. But before money is given to these companies the CEO is put under a lie detector test to make sure he is in it for the right reason.
While we--humans--lack in common sense we more than make up for it with ingenuity. This is one of the factors that keep my hope alive for a bright future no matter how in trouble we are (environment, human rights, etc).
The biggest producers of plastic must be held responsible for not coming up with a better way/scheme of handling these wastes when they had things under control.
I don't think the producers of plastic are completely to blame here. Those that don't reuse plastic and only trash them after single-use, are ALSO to blame.
he should bring the bottles to the fishermen, show them how to build one and let them build their own, then move on to the next area. This would clear out the bottles faster and the fishermen would be contributing
So, that is somehow just an east coast issue? No, it is all over the world. I live on the Chesapeake Bay and I walk our shores constantly. I don't find NEARLY as much plastic as I used to because we have recycling centers and free curbside pick-up. It is turned into a resource for the municipality earning them money by selling the waste rather than costing them money by trying to dispose of the waste. No, the problem in the world is too many people think that they can't do anything about waste issues. I know people who "don't believe in recycling" or scoff that recycling materials don't actually get recycled. Well, in part that is true, what is unidentifiable or a class of plastic that there is no demand for is sent to landfills, but the rest comes out as everything from decking lumber and furniture to drink/product bottles and even rope. Until people feel responsible for their own waste, this will continue to be a problem.
make the factories that sell these products buy the bottles back for a cent each, it might fix a bit of the problem as this is amazing that a culture can allow this to happen to their country!
If they were melted down in a cauldron, liquid plastic could be poured into molds for the boats and other items. I did notice that as they were collecting the bottles, many were being tossed back onto the pile as they were not suitable. Melted plastic for products would make all plastic collectible.
If they first melted the plastic is big vats, then pour it into (boat) molds. You can also make benches, and picnic tables from melted plastic. They'd be virtually indestructible.
you need the facilities to do that first. The plastic has to be shredded, you need a mashine to melt the plastic in with consistent and even heat and you need the molds.
They can start off small. Look online. People are melting plastic in their kitckens. If you start off small, little by little, you can grow into a larger company. Maybe get a loan, or an investor.
Fortunately the Koch brothers have provided $800,000,000 to increase the use of plastics. It's working very well, and 14% of oil and gas now goes to plastics. But since recycling is accounting for less than ten percent of production, the number should climb.
Always wonderful to find people willing to transform America's unexcusable wastefulness into useful junk. Each and every consumer needs to be charged on every product they purchase, to ensure those products do not reach any waterways anywhere.

I know that making the boats out of the bottles is helping the local fishermen and he's getting the bottles out of the rivers, but isn't that just delaying the overall problem? How long can one of those boats last? The fishermen who receive and use the boats will need to dispose of the bottles correctly otherwise the bottles will still end up being litter and end up in the ocean.

Ismael is an example of the type of young entrepreneur who should be supported by those with money, not just the young in the West making robots and other tech. We have plenty of companies already making tech, but that's not helping 2nd / 3rd world countries like this who are victims of big corporate greed, companies who have no concern over the pollution they are creating. If Ismael could have a YT channel and a Patreon account, I reckon he'd receive massive support.
Ismael is nothing. He is only doing creative disposal, not any form of environmental stewardship or recycling. He is a twonk. You talk about entrepreneurial tech. Okay. So how about all that PET being recast into food grade PET pellets to be re-processed into new PET bottles. Ever thought of that, you bourgeois drongo ?
Well, you seem not to see in a bigger picture... about that issue, coating all arranged bottles with protective covers and also using stronger material (perhaps metal string) solve the issue, and that will be a good one. I'm working in design... to me, the idea and taking action are the matters. Your comment is from a picky buyer who want to buy an expensive yacht !
Every year, 200 billion plastic bottles are made worldwide for juice, soda, household cleaning products and a whole range of other uses.I think high-quality polymers (plastics) suitable for use as secondary raw materials to create new products.
Hate to rain on anyone's parade BUT!!!!! The cordage isn't free so it's not free, unless you believe they found that to.. I'm a boater and this craft is very dangerous to use in open water. The boat would never hold a motor safely and a minor off shore wind/breeze would easily blow a boater off shore into open sea much faster than anyone could possibly paddle. That could be deadly. Melt the plastic down and remold it into boat that is structurally sound would be far better and safer. One that is strong and safe enough to hold a motor would be infinitely better.
all containers should be consigned. that would give them value once used, if they have dollar value, they will be picked up, otherwise, it s considered as trash... the boat is a start, with time, it can evolve into something very interesting. the gum products are nice, and I d certainly try a pair of shoes if only by principle. good show!

Can you melt the plastics to make boats ? Dig sand molds ?
This guy is my hero!
Make couches, chairs, tables. Endless possibilities!
It can be improve in time too....the idea of mix materials to make it more comfortable when the water current and wind blows.
Really great to see..young great anturperner doing things to make a big impact not only in there community but also in the world!
What a great man he really is!
Yes!!! Changing behavior ways!!! Awesome!!!
Innovation at its best...that guy got stills...
wow, an inspiration. he's such a lovely guy!
Good idea but it only take one of those line that tide them together and it breaks apart
Tesco Primark I never said it was bad idea I just said it doesn’t seem will last long time..
@@benb5891 though you are right, you should think longer. About whether or not there is a way to improve it.
Every year, 200 billion plastic bottles are made worldwide for juice, soda, household cleaning products and a whole range of other uses.I think high-quality polymers (plastics) suitable for use as secondary raw materials to create new products.
Water and nature!!! So much love for them
Hate to rain on anyone's parade BUT!!!!!
Ok. I think with some improvements then we are A for away.
all containers should be consigned. that would give them value once used,
if they have dollar value, they will be picked up, otherwise, it s considered as trash...
the boat is a start, with time, it can evolve into something very interesting.
the gum products are nice, and I d certainly try a pair of shoes if only by principle.
good show!
I love this man. What a beautiful and smart soul.
Seats of theatres ,stadium and schools* (*developing countries) and benches in parks should be made from recycled plastics from that region leading to waste management at root level.
Great work Brother Ishmael.May Allah bless u!!
