- What do you think about these timelapses? I don't know if it's unsatisfying showing an unfinished ship that might never get finished, but this is certainly the part I enjoy most about building ships.

These dead-end exercises aren't really dead ends. I often end up with shapes that get re-used in other designs, or they will prompt new lines of thought entirely. Now that we have a fresh new batch of blocks to play with, I'm due to go back to this mode of "sketching" to generate ideas to generate new sketches to generate new ideas, and so on. This is the practice required to be an artist.
Watching Major Jon build something in 30 minutes that looks better than what took me months to build.
You could do a viewer contest/showcase. Publish the hull on the workshop, task your viewers with finishing it, and review your favourite 3. If you want, it's just a suggestion.

stellar work as always. I love your style of carving out an ship like its made from clay. it allows you to make creative new shapes in ships every time.

i think the desing is promising. i would flip it on one side, make it 2 blocks wider and make the bottom asymmetrical. carve a hole where there is that diamond shape towards the back of the ship then carve a hole trough the ship from front to back intersecting the hole, that will be the runway/hangar for smallships. i imagine it having two piloting bridges one attatched to one of those "fins" in the back and one inside the ship for when there is a fight, the rest of the ship will be crew quarters and tech stuff.
If only all shapes could come together so nicely in that amount of time.

it will be nice publish also the abadoned ones, so players what can build good functional ships but ugly looking, so they can use that like basic frame :)

I think I need to start doing these exercises to get used to making shapes. Right now it's so hard

Hey Major Jon! Would you ever be willing to make a video that shows how you go from a prototype model of a ship to fully functional with the internals? I feel like the hardest thing is going from a cool vision of what you want it to look like to actually having internals!

Love the video. But, it makes me ill at my lack of creativity. I can make very functional ships but not good-looking at all.
