If we load another, after the warning we get removed! So ... We lice em too for the fact its nature and we do venom research but.... Thanks for watching Jeff!!! Appreciate your support!

    Great info! Didn't know puff adders got that big, thought it was a average 3'/4' tops animal. Also didn't know their venom was hotter than the gaboon's.
    Used to think the gaboon was king but now it seems like a draw bite for bite. Puff is more toxic but the gaboon will give more and deliver it deeper. When you throw in the Puff's larger range I think you're right in saying it's the deadlier species although with this contest it's safe to say you're @$_&## either way.
    Great video Willie and wifey, please keep em coming!!!

    Nr1- it accounts for the most bites in Africa
    Nr2- it’s the fastest striking
    Nr3- there are more closer to people

    Happy New Year Willie & Mrs. VemonCentral!! I’m over the moon for this video!! The Gaboon is my favourite snake of all & the Puff Adder is now a close second!! They are both amazing creatures!! I think the Puff Adder is the winner in the contest because of the range of places found & hotter venom. The gaboon wins ALL DAY with beauty, long fangs & dose of venom!! That being said, you are screwed getting tagged by either!! You & ViperKeeper are my Two Most Watched & Enjoyed RUclips Channels!! Hope you all have the Most Blessed, Joyous & Happy New Year!!! Just watch some of my gaboon videos, I always talk about gaboons having extreme speed and stretch and they literally levitate and twist during a strike and you don't see it until I SLO MO the video... as ambush predators they stay in one place, with their camo, for long periods of time. The dragon huffing is normally one of their defensive signs. Thanks for watching!! And for the sub... Welcome to #VenomCentral

There is a video done by a awesome handler named *Kurdt Greenwood,* where he is actually laying next to a wild *Gaboon* viper and was even free handling it! It was the most chilled out snake I've ever seen lol. Still super dangerous, even holding it behind the head can be dangerous because of those long fangs!

The range of the Bitis Gaboonica Rhinoceros is clear, however, some viewers may get confused when they see Bitis Gaboonica Gabonica (East Africa Gaboon Viper). I hope so next time to post a comparison between Bitis Gaboonica Rhinoceros (West Africa Gaboon Viper) and Bitis Gaboonica Gaboonica ( East Africa Gaboon Viper).

  • @smido1284
    @smido1284 2 года назад +1

    Grew up in Zimbabwe…in the villages, puff adders would slither into our blankets…mainly during winter. Literally you would sleep and roll the whole night without it moving or striking. Had too many encounters with them. Don’t get me wrong, step too close when out in the fields and they’ll strike.
    So I’m not sure what to think of them in terms of their temperament. 🤔

  • @JPGinge98
    @JPGinge98 5 лет назад +2

    Love the gaboon viper's
    How do they measure the strike speed btw?

  • @owainkanaway8345
    @owainkanaway8345 5 лет назад +6

    Well the puff adder is more widespread and has the more toxic venom, so that technically makes them more dangerous. But you also have to factor in temperament. Both snakes are willing to bite if you mess with them in anyway, but which snake has the more predictable behavior? I would say the puff adder has the more predictable behavior. You know what you are getting with a puff adder, they let you know when they are about to strike you. But with a gaboon viper their behavior changes often, they can become more unpredictable therefore more dangerous in that regard.
    EDIT: Also the puff adder seem more chilled than the gaboon viper. The gaboon viper was hissing. But overall I would say the puff adder is more dangerous just because they are more widespread.

    • @dvlexotics2177
      @dvlexotics2177 5 лет назад +3

      I dunno your right about fhe gabby being unpredictable but ive had gabbys there pretty chill for the most part... Hence why people get bit by them they get too comfortable with gabbys and bang your bit....

    they both looked equally as fast to me, my question is if they mate what characteristics do the offspring have? do they take more after one species or can they take genes from either? and how does it affect their fangs and venom? and do they have the gaboons white lines across the top of the spine? loads of questions I know but It's interesting lol

    Beautiful animals Willy!
    I've read that the Puff Adder has the fastest strike of all snakes. (At least I'm pretty sure it was the Puff Adder)
    The Gaboon appeared faster bc it hit so brutally.
    But I believe the Puff Adder was faster.
    All things that you said considered, I believe the Puff Adder is the more dangerous snake!

  • @TheSagerider
    @TheSagerider 5 лет назад +3

    I am going out on a limb here but I like challenges. As far as body count I am thinking the Puff Adder has this competition belly scales down. The reason I am leaning in this direction is these two occupy two different environments. The Puff Adder I think is found everywhere humans are found resulting in more frequent encounters than the Gaboon that lives in more remote areas. This is also almost like a question like would you rather be shot on the right side of your head or the left side. No matter which side you choose your dead in this case. I also heard that Puff Adders have a different thing going on with their neck to head attachment making them even more dangerous to handle. I am sure everyone has seen the video of a guy getting bit through the lower lip of the Gaboon he was handling. The handler got tagged in the finger when one of those huge fangs got hung up and did not fold up as they usually do. The guy was really screwed like grabbing a tiger by the tail, damned if you let go and damned if you hold on. Let’s see how the dice roll. :)
    I did fairly well I think. :) I had no idea that Puff Adders employed sent blocking! Still many very interesting facts about snakes yet to be discovered. Medical uses, whoed a thunk it?

      Believe it or not we just got the newest GoPro hero black 8 and filmed in 4K and the clips were beautiful. BUT when it produced, because GoPro clips were mixed with other camera angle clips, they are NOT 4k, it lowered the fps to 30 and quality and crisp pixels went down...everything looked ordinary again. Today the filming is being done 100% with GoPro so that it produces correctly. Now if it will only upload to YT correctly, we'll see. But I hate not see the snakes perfectly. GoPro showed every detail of every scale... stay tuned and hopefully we'll get it figured out. Just got the GoPro yesterday so it's a learning curve. #venomsquad

    Well, most dangerous, the puff purely because it has more interactions with people and more land. The gaboon is a more passive snake but it has the most potential to kill if given equal access/coverage. It's just not as likely to willingly strike a person ( without being startles or baited into it).

    Asking me to choose between bitis species is like choosing a favourite kid, its next to impossible for me and unfair XD - Though i'd have to pick the gaboon if it was down to life or death. Beautiful to look at, the fangs are scary, specially the fact that it can sneek a fang out of the side of its mouth, i just love and respect the bitis as a whole. Puffies, gaboons, gabinos, rhinos, they're all on my bucket list to see in person.

    If anyone is interested, *Dingo Dinklemen* actually did a video on who has the longest fangs in the snake kingdom. The *Gaboon Viper* of course was going to be the winner till *Dingo* pulled out a *Meshang Viper* and those fangs were actually longer by a inch. The *Meshang Viper* is such a rare snake that people just really never see it.

    They’re both a viper species of snake. The reason the puff adder causes more death is because they inhabit more area encounter human more

    I feel like the Puff Adder may be slightly more dangerous, but man I just love Gaboon Vipers! Probably my favorite snake!

    How unlikely are dry bites from each?

    • @VenomCentral
      @VenomCentral  3 года назад +1

      Dry bites occur quite frequently when snakes are in a defensive posture and they understand it's not prey or food. I know several people who have been dry bitten. You have to understand that venom is a precious commodity to these animals and they don't want to waste it on a non prey bite. It takes time for venom gland to rejuvenate. Thanks for watching and sharing your great question! 🐍💪👍🙏

      @@VenomCentral I appreciate that. I'm aware that several rattlers dry bite more often than not, whereas a dry bite from a black mamba is nearly unheard of.
      I just didn't know with these two and one was curious. Thank you for answering

    • @VenomCentral
      @VenomCentral  3 года назад +1

      Mamba's are in a league of their own. In every way. Always mean business, coming at you full throttle, mouth open. Fastest metabolism ever, in constant motion like a great white shark 🦈. Just not a species of special concern and luckily not high on list of snakes needed for venom labs. 🙏 My snakes strike from feeding response and if you ever have watched any of my Fangs in your Face videos, the venom squirts everywhere, even on frozen thawed rodents. They don't know the difference with my feeding techniques and that's good because of their need for Venom in digestion. Appreciate your thoughts!! 🐍👍🙏

    Hallo Venomcentral, can't you improve your sound a little bit? I think it's very bad!
    Btw, I think Gaboons are the smartest and most adorable of all snakes!

    Puff adder is more deadly than Gaboon viper. The puff adder is more widespread, have an irritable tempérament and have a faster striking speed compared to the gaboon.

    Puff adder vs federlance venom?

  • @SaintHangman
    @SaintHangman 3 года назад

    The Gaboon viper is a puff adder that's supersized. Though the Gaboon vipers are usually laidback, they pack the viperine answer to a Gatling gun with bigger fangs and a more massive set of venom glands so they can envenomate their prey.
    Puff adders have speed and aggression to back up their venom delivery system and big fangs.
    Don't expect a dry bite from either one, though. Dry bites are where a venomous snake bites you but no venom is injected.
    Adult vipers usually have greater control over their venom delivery systems than baby vipers and younger vipers.

    The puff adder is the one that bit Kim Basinger's son in the famous movie, "I Dreamed of Africa." He was extremely foolish and ignored his mother's warning to keep only non-poisonous snakes. He took a minute to take his glove off and the adder bit him very fast.
