My name is Mindy Mandell. I have been interested in Platonism for over 20 years. I am the author of Discovering the Beauty of Wisdom: Embracing Mysticism Through the Ancient Path of Greek Philosophy, ISBN 978-1898910-725.

Thank you for the videos you put out. You always do a great job and i really appreciate the time and effort you put into the channel.
I appreciate that!
Thanks for linking Platonist and meditative practice. This is what was missing from my academic studies; it's great to see meditation presented as an essential aspect of the Platonist Path.
It's a shame that this connection is controversial to some academics; it seems like a no-brainer to me!
You held that pose for a long time
This sounds a lot like mindfulness of breathing.
Oh so that explains the things that has been happening to me, The memories, The daydreams, The fantasies, The negative thoughts and feeling. I have been trying to write things down, but I have to catch myself going to sleep when they come up. While I don't like the word "discipline" but love the words from the read alone in the republic as Exercise, This feels like making a katana from iron sand ,a poor quality source with lots of impurities in the metal, that then Heated with pine charcoal and pounded into flat sheets, making it easy to see the impurities, and then folding heating and folded again allowing the removal the slag that comes to the surface and purifying the metal to be usable, while adding carbon to strengthen it. The spot I have been letting my minds eye focus on was from a dream, in the dream I was meditating and had this lifting tickling feeling below my stomach and I started floating off the floor, and levitating, and when I lost focus I would lose height and come down. I have a floor desk, so I spend 80% of my time in a cross legged position, with chin in left hand and elbow on left thigh and right hand in a fist on my right hip like if a sword was there. This has been very informative!
I would definitely recommend watching my videos on Philosophical Midwifery. This is a very effective method to address the distracting thoughts and feelings that all of your hard work is surfacing. And if you have any particular blocks you would like me to explore with you, feel free to drop me an email. There is a link in the description box. Blessings.
@@allaboutplatonism I have watched the whole playlist, I really enjoyed them, several times, it's now starting to make sense, like learning a language and you start to think in the new language, and it has this relieving feeling. But I'll watch again as they are worth doing so again.Thx
I don’t know if it’s true but I always thought that Plotinus’ Apophatic Contemplation was like the successive Jhanas in Buddhist teachings…withdrawing the awareness inwards and away from the outside world until you become self absorbed.
Or neti neti in Indian Vedanta where you negate things that are not the self….until you enter some kind of absorption…
Yes, there is truly a mystical aspect to Plotinus. I have a special place in my heart for his enneads.
I love Kundalini yoga and meditation
