Wow that was way simpler than I thought it would be, and again, much more simple than SketchUp makes it out to be. Thanks! Subscribed for more tips & tricks!

Thanks man! Just subscribed to your channel right now :-) Thought it was going to be complicated to load in a painting, but you smoothed it out pretty well!

2020 Aim: Learn to model some environments in Unreal for importing into Revit...

@@revitcourse I found the problem with importing Revit into Unreal is that Revit can't UV map surfaces. Rhino can UV surfaces but it lacks the MEP abilities of Revit. IMO Revit's 'panilsation' abilities are very good but it lacks the 'modifiers' that other modelling programs have (for example see the Tissue modifier in Blender). I am hoping that in time Unreal's meshes will have some good modifiers added. I have found when trying to import Unreal meshes into Revit they are one 'lump' and can't have separate materials added. I believe that with a bit of Blueprint wizardry the Unreal meshes can be exported one by one then combined in Revit.

@@revitcourse This would 100% make it possible - but I disagree with 'easier'. I believe there are other 'optimizations' that happen to models when converting from Revit to Max and it is the route that Autodesk want you to take. The Indie version of Max is affordable but it's the problem of having to 'know' another program with all of its shortcuts and quirks. I have tried sending the Unreal FBX into Max and then into Revit but again the FBX gets imported as one 'lump' without the ability to manipulate individual parts. Conspiracy theory: I wonder if Autodesk did this on purpose to force people to model in Revit and not a DCC program? I want to limit my 'bread and butter' programs to just Unreal, Revit and Autodesk CFD to save on my limited 'headspace'!. I am hoping that in the distant future drawings (with dimensions, sheets etc.) will be possible in Unreal without Revit (I do admit that this is a bit of a leap and that, like AutoCAD, Revit will be popular for a very long time to come). IMO the fewer programs that you learn = less chance of wasted learning on a program that becomes obsolete (I learned Max a long time ago but the render times were too long to be commercially viable for me as a 'one-man-band' - that was a tough and drawn-out lesson).

I hate Revit. I want DEPTH so that it looks like an unframed canvas. Such a simple request. Such a massive headache. This program is so bossy.
