Construction Stalled by Tiny Trespasser

  • In the midst of a home renovation project, unexpected challenges arise. Last year, the battle against birds nesting in the unfinished structure was intense. Now, just as progress seemed steady, a clever wren has discovered its way into the property, seeking refuge and insects in the gaps of our under-construction home. With the potential threat of more birds nesting in the insulation, drastic measures are necessary. In this video, join me as I explain the sudden halt in construction, the importance of bird-proofing, and the unforeseen hurdles encountered in turning a house into a bird-free sanctuary. Let's tackle this feathered dilemma together!

    Don't tell us you're going to have a Wren kitchen now?!
    Be careful with those ladders....it only takes one mistake and it's RIP Aiden. Better safe than sorry.
    Looks like you are preparing yourself to tackle the bigger jobs. I often find it takes me time to build up my confidence - especially after a winter in hibernation - so a few 'silly' jobs reminds me that 'I can do this!'.
    Looking forward to seeing the cats outside 👍

      @@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT no worries, it's there if you change your mind. I will need to get rid of it at some point. It was a free replacement which I don't need. It's hardly used but I don't have the space for 2 of them!

    Get a spray foam insulator to come and insulate the whole roof, that’ll stop anything. Or a big bead of silicone all round the edge of the soffit.

  • @drmoonie
    @drmoonie 2 месяца назад +2

    Beyond a coincidence Aiden!- need to repair some similar roof problem and thought why not expanding foam, looked for hours for uv stable but no joy. Just typed “pond expanding foam” and your right uv stable expanding foam does exist - not going to get my hopes up but thank you so much! (Thought it would be a fortune as you said but £20 a can - not ridiculous to get out of a pinch 😀

    I had starlings nesting in the eaves once. They make such an awful racket that it can drive you crazy through sleep deprivation.

    First it was rats chewing up yer van, now it’s wrens squatting in your barn conversion. Thankfully you haven’t had any pigeons in because believe me, they are bloody shitting machines once they get inside… we had them in our loft one time and it was a right pain in the arse to clean up 🫣

      @@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT How mad is this. The other day I found out that Jays can apparently pretty much mimic any sound. So if they feel threatened they reproduce the sound of say a power tool or some predator in nature, like a cat or something. Also I didn’t realise that they were part of the Crow family. And Starlings can aswell. ruclips.net/video/nk_6NGUOgNM/видео.htmlsi=Kbei6Q3h0n0SYXW1

      There was some company - might have been in America - who used a digger with workers in it to reach up high. Building inspector caught them and threw the book at company. An expensive mistake.i suppose on your own land you can do what you want....but don't bother claiming insurance if something goes wrong.
