What did we get for our Money at the XXIII Habano Festival

- We are back from a week at the Festival del Habano and we are looking at everything we did and everything we got from the $3,500 event. On top of this amount you have to add the flight, the accommodation and pocket money for extra expenses, Monday lunch and Tuesday and Thursday dinner.
Here is the detailed list per day:
Monday (9 Free Cigars) :

Bus Trip with a Guide.
Visit of the Plantations with a Guide. Lunch.

Wednesday (7 Free Cigars) :
Lunch. Free Cigar: H. Upmann Conossieur No.2
Master Class. Roll you own Cigar: Gift: Wooden Board and Chaveta
Sake Tasting: Free Cigars: Hoyo de Monterrey Rio Seco / Partagas D4
Mid-Week Bolivar Night: Free Cigars: Bolivar Royal Corona / Bolivar Libertador LCDH / 2 Bolivar Gold Medal.
Buffet Dinner.

Gifts: One S.T. Dupont Cutter and one S.T. Dupont Lighter and one Linea Maestra Ashtray. 3 Course Meal Gala Dinner with Wine and Rum.
Total: 31 Free Cigars, 1 Wine Tasting, 1 Rum Tasting, 1 Chianti Tasting. 1 Master Class, Habanos World Challenge Competition, 4 Lunches, 3 Dinner Parties. 1 Bus tour and visit of a plantation, 1 visit of a Cigar factory. 1 S.T. Dupont cutter, 1 S.T. Dupont Lighter, 1 Wooden Board + 1 Chaveta.
For the 1st time in Festival history, boxes of the featured new release cigars were available for sale. 1000 boxes were available for purchase with the limit of 2 boxes per invitation, hence 500 people were able to buy 2 boxes.

Well in this experiences we can't argue about the price if worth it or not,because those experiences have symbolic meaning,of course 3500$ for a ticket is not something easy but Habanos SA has made it clear already for everybody,they are heading in the luxury path,so people must understand and accept this fact;congratulations sir on this beautiful journey and I hope that you enjoyed your time in Cuba !

Very good value for $3500. The gifts alone must be worth more than that on the secondary market not to mention the gold medals.

Good question! I guess they will be priced like the Montecristo Linea 1935 and the R&J Linea de Oro. i.e. very expensive.

Are all the gifted cigars or purchased boxes allowed in your luggage back to USA?
Safest way to get them back to the US is to transit through another country first, otherwise it's just easy pickings for US Customs to snatch them...for themselves!
Also note that US credit cards and bank cards do not work in Cuba.

I contacted the local distributor for my country i.e. the United Arab Emirates. In reality I called Jasim Ahmed. Depending on where you are based you can also book it online on the Habanos website when it is uploaded. As far as the flight and hotels are concerned you can also book online.

How much does Habano ask for the Bolivar gold medal at the event?
I believe it was €270 hence the crowd.
In addition to Cuba, have you visited any factories, festivals or conferences hosted by manufacturers in the United States, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua or Honduras.
No sir. I am only reporting on Cuban cigars. I only know and smome Cuban cigars and I know nothing about the rest
I understand about preference, however a true connoisseur would be informed about all the regions where cigars are made. Just like wines, France thought they were the only makers of the best wines until California taught them a lesson in blind tasting. Cuba is now another country that makes an excellent cigar. The more variety, the more choices are great for everyone.

how much do tickets cost?
It deepens where from. I guess it is a few hundreds from the US and up to $1,000 from Europe and Asia.
The price seems to be very good value for all the cigars, the ST Dupont gifts and the tours.

I was offered a box of Bolivar GM after the habanos festival for 700 USD from Turkey Istanbul. I didnt took the offer. Would like to know how much they were sold on the festival. I guess these guys paid there flighst with these boxes. Somehow a disgrace for us afficionados
If I am not mistaking the price was around $350-400. The market price will be more than double that amount.

Yes unfortunately. The whole event will cost at least $3.5K for the event $2K for the trip, berween $500 and $2K for accommodation and you should prepare $1K to $2K for expenses.
