I recognize that Thunderbolt. That's the one formerly known as _Spirit of Atlantic City, NJ_ , and she resides at the Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, California. What makes this P-47 special is that it was built, not by Republic Aviation, but by Curtiss-Wright under license, and given the designation of *P-47G* , which were relegated to stateside USAAF training squadrons, due to the G variant's inferior armor compared to Republic's more ruggedly built versions, such as the P-47D and the later P-47N.
An awesome aircraft. One that was designed around the huge Pratt and Whitney radial engine. It's unfortunate that the other plane started its engine shortly before the P47 started its engine. Still a good video. Thank you for this.
The amazing torque xD At low idling with lots of missfire he forget to max the brake pedal and she instantly moves forward. The sound is really cool, what a beast it is! :D
Well, the Jug was almost half again as heavy as the Mustang... 10,000lbs empty/17,500lbs max takeoff vs 7,635lbs empty/12,100lbs max takeoff. Plus, the Jug is *still* big compared to most single-piston-engine aircraft.
there was only 1 Jug...Bobby Johnson said there was not a fighter plane in the entire ETO inventory that could hang with his Thunderbolts paddleblade propeller in a zoom climb including even the legendary Spitfire, oh and a great view of the rear exhaust of the 51s jetlike radiator system that added 40-mph to its top speed.
Caleb Gilbert That puddle jumper was a glassair 503 chase plane for the P 47. I told him not to start but you know these guys are... always turning on their engines at an airport.
A big corn fed Indiana girl with perfect proportions. They could be painted any color and anyone who looked at her knows she is American. She even sounds American. Potato Potato Potato, instantantly identifiable as American as a Harley-Davidson or a Cadillac Eldorado.
The flyover path got altered flying in northwest towards Cypress over Hwy 249. 100's of viewers were disappointed. We expected the flyover to cross from the southeast over 249 @ Cypresswood. Instead we could barely see them as they flew from the south far west of us. Then we saw the reason why. I commercial airline A380 approached from the north for landing at Bush. How come the pilots did not know this ahead of time ?
@@davidduganne5939 it's not the P-51 starting up in the beginning, it's another radial. The Merlin engine has a very distinct "putt-putt" sound, the sound of the first engine starting up was much more airy and hefty sounding, like a radial. It was likely another R-2800.
@Johan I believe it's a C model, a razorback. The D models had a bubble canopy and cut- down fuselage aft of the cockpit. There's no smoke from the rear tailpipe under the plane, so its not likely that the turbo supercharging system is intact.
yes they all have superchargers and its the thunderbolt. although that it was its callsign its a original thunderbolt that went to war, this was the first actualy manufactured model

Love the Bearcats, Corsair Hellcat too BUT nothing compares to a P47. The one comment is spot on War Horse
MY FATHER WAS A CREW CHIEF IN WW2. WORKED ON P 47S IN THE 9TH A. F. CAN'T IMAGINE SEEING THIS EVERY DAY!!! AWESOME !!!!
My God, what a beautiful bird.
T Razor Back P47 My Favourite version.

Her eight .50 cal machine guns gave the plane some real presence over the enemy, I bet the P-47 used to shred Me109's into confetti.
Nothing sounds quite like a radial engine, gets the heart going! Love it!
My favorite WWII fighter.
Like in 1944 - Thunderbolt is clearing the path for Mustang.
BTW - P-51 looks here a bit like a fancy groopie for a heavy weight boxer. ;)
The Thunderbolt is awesome, but you gotta love the design on the P51 Mustang!
What a beauty , great aircraft.
A truly Prat&Witney symphony
Great Video I love the P-47

Good Lord the P-51, which was my Dads favorite, looks puny, compared to the JUG!

damn the sheer size is scary.

It's called the law of inertia 😁 love zoom climbing in this thing in war thunder
@@bt_the_yank6234 far out....
Wow the Pratt and Whitney sound is polluted by the obnoxious start up of some random local puddle jumper

@@wcolby Lol. I figured it was a Chase plane. It's funny but its like the 503 guy turned it up extra loud " I m a big boy too!" 😂😂
Whoopass being drowned out by some pansy "me too"
The p51 sounds like a moped compared to the p47
And 4 of those big bastards on a B29 or Constellation.
Some Moped!!
Thunderbolt packed a powerful punch upon its enemies.....
Awesome
There are those who love the sound of the Pakard-Merlin but I prefer the beautiful music produced by the Pratt and Whitney Double Wasp.
Awesome sound
Race horse
War horse
Excellent spectacular

What flyover are you referring to?
56th FG 61st Sqdn colors?
Question Men: Is that an aux combustion starter, prior to main start?
No, you're hearing another aircraft starting up--it's the red nose P-51 taxiing out after the Jug.

Which P-47 is this? Do they all have the turbocharging systems disconnected?
@Johan

@@aquablue6301 the early D models had razorback canopy's too. I think this a d-22 because it seems to have the pattle prop
This P-47, owned by Planes of Fame, is a P-47G. It was an early P-47D license built by Curtiss.
okay war thunder

Obviously!
Hahahaaha...cue the Mustang!
No inertia starter :(
Did camera guy not hear the volkswagon startup....Jesus...
David Cook Did some guy on RUclips just insult the cameraman?
