Are You Actually READY to be Healed? | Step 6 of “12 Mantrasongs for the 12 Steps of Recovery”

[Mantrasong 045 - "Ready to be Healed"] -- Step 6 of the 12 Steps of Recovery states that we “were ENTIRELY READY to have God remove all of these defects of character.”
In writing about this step, Fr. Richard Rohr addresses the paradox that we have to do the WORK of being READY for God to do the work of healing us. He refers to the old aphorism, that “No one catches the wild ass by running after him, yet only those who run after the wild ass ever catch him.”
In many ways it feels like a waiting in a drought-ridden desert, preparing for rain, fully aware of our need for restoration. This Mantrasong is the first chapter in a two-part song. I wanted to leave it feeling unfinished, awaiting the resolution of forward action that comes with step 7. Be sure to come back next week to watch the sequel. ;-)
