to people still struggling having armor that has Tenacity (L) on it is really helpful for tanking a hit and adapting to its next moves. Reverto is a good buddy cause of his Damage and you want to take advantage of the Fire weakness.
Just make the bloodbath diablos armor. I got it maxed and i didnt even complete elders lair yet. But i did the deviant and elder dragon quest line and i have every monstie
Basically, grind to 50 at least before fight any ED (i still have a thorn in my ass for being a egg thief), and try to remember it patterns set, it change every time it use a skill (Velk start with Speed then ice armor - technical, flying - power, buff with fog ice - ready for spam 3 Aoe skills). And you get lucky and find an Kush with Overpower gene at lvl 40 (lower all res def & atk), the fight become much more easy. Using armor with elements defense of the ED you fight is a big help too.
After doing this fight for the second time in S. Zone 5 I have a few tips for dealing with this fight: - If you can predict a Tail Sting then try to use a sword + shield and go with guard. This should not one shot you if it hits while guard is up (unless you are super underleveled). - Always pay attention to the previous attack - the notes will tell you which attack should come next following this. - If you lose track of which attack is next and you're on 2 hearts, using a potion to take you back to 3 hearts will save you from the AoE one-shot. - You can use horns (weapon type) with their evasion skill to try and avoid the AoE attacks. This required a lot of skill points to use so make sure your gauge is filled before using. - Save before the fight and reload the save to make sure you don't waste any items if you do lose. You may need to redo the fight a couple of times to really get used to the patterns / notes. Those were the main rules I followed in order to complete the second run of this zone. Feel free to add any other tips below.
@@AT_Zeross You have to do all of the elder's lair zones again in the special zone version. On top of this, you can also fight Velkhana and the other super rare monsters in co-op quests.
I've also noticed if you manage to cancel it's attacks via Double Attack or Kinship, It will still try to use what it was going to use. I only lost 2 hearts in the fight to Tail Sting and expecting a Speed attack when it actually used Hyperfreeze again because I canceled it.
It tells you in the notes what's coming up next when it uses its other attacks. That's what I used to make my attacks. If it uses hyperfreeze, it follows with 2 speed attacks, if it uses Tail Sting, it uses 2 technical attacks etc. You can use kinship skills during the turns where it isnt trying to go for head to heads.
So, I have a question. Are all Velkhana battles this difficult or is it just for the Elder's lair challenge? I've been holding off on doing the Elder's lair and focusing more on expeditions, but I've been avoiding the snowy den because of possibly fighting Velkhana. I want her eggs, but I don't want to fight her like this on expeditions.

Q-Q I can barely get it to the point there it starts to drool, and, even with the notes, predicting it's attacks is still pretty tough- Just wondering btw, do you have any recommendations? Like armor, weapons, battle buddies, ect? Cuz i need all the help i can get to beat this guy... T-T
Armour doesnt really matter for this fight but I just used the highest tier gear I could make while progressing through the story. Same thing with the weapons. During the trials I highly recommend using the hunters since they help a lot for the limited turns / part breaking (Kyle I used from Zone 4 and never swapped off since). I really didn't like the hunters during main story but post-game I've actually loved their support. I also recommend using any items that refill hearts during the down turns. If Velkhana is not doing a head to head, that would be the time to use your kinship skill / ride. After about 3 attempts, that's when I finished this fight.
it’s pretty funny how this was a meme and then fatalis people struggled at level 68 meanwhile I beat him first try at level 55. Strategy and head on head builds matter soo sooo much.
You been following the notes? Might take a few attempts but you should be able top get into the rhythm and learn when / when not to use kinship skills etc
Mine were not changed / upgraded or anything for this fight, meaning what I was actually running was really sub-optimal for this fight. Even with the wrong gear and armour you can still do this fight. I believe I was about level 50 when I took on this fight, this can be seen during one of the menu screens later on in the vid.

You can change to hammer and use absolute evasion to completely negate the attack
playing this fight at level 59 and she' one shotting me even with dreadqueen rath armor
Yes, she one shots you (or close to if hyper over-leveled) if you dont choose the right attacks.

Yea when special moves happen it throws me off so hard I'm like wtf was I about to do..

Use a weapon with shield so if you don't know what will Velkhana do you just protect yourself, it doesn't kill you

What level and armour did you have for this fight?
Level 50, I was using Rath Heart armour, cant remember which armour level
