- Elections to Jammu and Kashmir’s legislative assembly looming in the horizon, the banned Jamaat-e-Islami says its wants to join the democratic mainstream. The party fought elections in the past, but also helped build the Islamist movement which culminated in the long jihad from 1988. Letting the Jamaat back in could counter Kashmiri nationalism-but only at the cost of legitimising something far more toxic.

@@mirafzal2019 There is no international issue of J&K at anywhere except raised by Pakistan. It had been a state of India. India never forced the state to merge with it. It was attacked by Pakistan kabayili in 1947 and occupied the half of it. Since then, PoK suffered by the hands of Pakistan and couldn't raise their voice with the fear of being executed like Balochis. Now the time has changed and the People of PoK stood up for their rights. There started clashes between Pakistan forces & people of PoK. PoK is asking for either India or khud mukhtar state.
Soon there will be division of Pakistan. Allah ke fazal se Pakistan ko Balochistan aur PoK se haath dhone padenge.

I welcome the decision of Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir that they will now come into the national stream and participate in the democracy in which their trust was lost after the rigged elections of 1987 in which the National Conference was unilaterally given the government. and General Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami, Ghulam Qadir Sahib also emphasized that to bring our Pandit community back to their homeland, kashmir India. The government should immediately pave the way for them. Just like the pindi establishment plays with Pakistani democracy, New Delhi has played dirty games in Kashmir causing this decades long disaster. Nehruvian dynasty cause a lot of damage because of their empire building and management exercise across the country. Playing with Islamists and then Sikh extreamists to create counters to local secular voices caused the violent insurgencies. Modi on the other hand swings the other extream and is unready to open dialogue with locals and wants to setup BJP as a power broker which splits J&K on communal lines. The same can be seen in Manipur.
NCP, PDP and Jamaat are all relics of these dirty experiments and should be allowed to fade into history at a natural level of decay.

In 2008 where we were part of the agitation Geelani sahib was not the person who started it but was one of the members of the coordination Commitee of which I was a member also . All decisions were by consensus and the Hindu project which was delayed by the agitation in 2008 is now being implemented after abrogation of 370 . The 2008 agitation was completely led by the civil society and then the hurriyat came in a leading role when the jammu jan sang elements forced the people of jammu for economic blockade which was countered by the business community by bypassing jammu resulting in them understanding that their market is kashmir for their trade (wholesale ) besides their factories which never could compete with Punjab etc .
So this half truth he mentions about jammat or Geelani sahib and the rest he is quoting is for others to comment .
Now regarding elections etc participation by jammat whether they do or not will not make difference to #Kashmiris as we are fighting for #RightOfSelfDetermination and till a single Kashmiri is alive he will demand it . Yes india by its million army can delay it but finally Kashmiris will get to decide . In the history of nations such setbacks happen and is present in every nation history .

Things are changed in Kashmir. We no more see Pakistan as an option to join rather a secular India will serve the purpose. At the end of the day Hindus love their religion so do Muslims. We just want protection of our culture, natural resources and of our political rights. We are not second class citizens that some politician sitting at Delhi dictate our lifestyle. We respect govt. institution and authorities and are law abiding citizens. Be it Jamat or any section of people for dehli it is better to go with optimistic option and let the aspiration of people get heard in non prejudice and non biased manner.

There has to be a probation period for coming back to the normal life after undergoing punishment for their terrorism related crimes. Jammat has lost it's value in the country where its founder belongs. In Kashmir too it has lost its importance too. Of course, it was a religious organization exclusively devoted towards education not as a communal party but orthodox Islamic organization. It changed its policy in 1970s after a massive crackdown against it when its schools were banned. It changed its policy and got derailed. Rest is history.
