Barbara Anderson is an absolute hero!! She did what she did because she knew it was the right thing and she ended up losing everything her family her son her grandchildren and all her friends and it's so sad that she had to go through that but God bless her if it hadn't been for her I don't know what state the organization would be in now. I just can't thank her enough for coming forward and making known what was going on behind closed doors. I know it's disheartening for her to see that these things are still continuing but at least she was able to bring light to a very very dark situation and in my book she will always be my hero!
It's incredible what she lost for the safety and protection of other children. It breaks my heart that two loving parents could loose their son and grandkids to protect other kids from predators. I don't know what civilian awards the USA has, but Barb deserves the highest. We should campaign for it.
My father started taking me to meetings in mid 1970s (I was between 4 and 5 years old). The stuff about Franz and 1975 must have been going on, but 'children do not need to know'. 1975 failed to materialise, and my Dad kept dragging me to meetings until I was old enough to escape home 12 years later. By then, the damage was done. I feel angry and 🤢
I’ve noticed people tense up when I try to bring Ray up just for the simple fact of how he has been labeled by the society. So I usually bring them to Lloyd first. Then follow up with Ray. I got about half my old crew back doing it that way. I think it also depends on the age of people also. It’s easier to get a 20 yr old to listen to Lloyd than Ray

I believe that Ray Franz had the most influence on me waking up. His narrative was humble and respectful. He didn’t go on a tirade against Watchtower but exposed the facts that Watchtower doesn’t want you to know. Barbara Anderson was very informative having worked right in Bethel. Regarding Lloyd Evans I have nothing to say because it has already been said.

I agree. I faded on my own over 15 years ago. I never look at anything “apostate.” I just knew I was miserable and done with JWs. It was only after the fact that I read Raymond Franz book and learned of Barbara Anderson. I couldn’t take the angry, dark energy of most FB groups. It was all too negative. I searched the internet after I faded. RUclips helped me. Critical Thinkers was my first channel that I felt connected. They introduced me to others. Wally thanks for this excellent video. Funny, before I woke up to all this, I had been listening to Christian debate topics on RUclips at work. While I was on a ladder with my hands full, RUclips started to play a known “Apostate” from my congregation, “ Cliff the Fifth”. My hands were full so I thought, “What the hell, why not? How bad could it be?” And now here I am taking it all in.
That's incredible! Cliff was so dedicated, by the sounds of it. You must have wondered what made such a devoted JW from a good family turn away from the faith!

I’m guessing that a good fraction of ua having gone this route do the same thing: while questioning out faith, we loose faith, we become less active with the organization and the congregation, we blame ourselves, people become nervous because they don’t know what to say, we stop attending meetings, out of site out of mind, an announcement gets made, everyone feels safer and moves on.

I read Crisis of Conscience when it first came out as at 18 I rebelled at home & refused going to meetings anymore. I was so torn inside being raised as a Witness if I was doing the right thing. That book took a huge load off my shoulders, even convinced my dad how corrupt things were. There was a lot of talk going on then when Mr. Franz was shunned, too
I like how you did give Lloyd credit. I know he isn't always what some may consider a "good person," but there are other exJW's that dedicate their channels to Lloyd bashing, and granted I, myself would probably not care for him as a person, however, I have learned a lot from him and his channel and because of that I was able to leave the cult. We have all been abused or have trauma from the WT Society, the last thing we need is to attack each other. So thank you for being the bigger person Wally, much respect and love! Also, I hate how when someone leaves the WT Society the announcement made eludes to the idea that the person who left did something wrong, which just enforces the evil practice of disfellowshipping.
I watched many of Lloyd’s videos, which helped me to leave the org. But honestly, Wally’s channel further gave me the confidence why my decision to leave was personally right for me. Thank you, Wally.
Paul runs an excellent written website, Lloyd is a clinic in persuasive communication. Ray’s book changed my life for the better. Wally, you’re doing an awesome job, as is Jake, and I love Owen’s work too (Telltale). JT and Lady C are fantastic also. Barbara lived it and may be the most important woman in Watchtower leadership that men got credit for. She’s in a league of her own. Jim Penton is the Scholar. Olaf and the 607 /587 argument cannot be refuted honestly. I love Goatlike Personality and his goat farm in Scandinavia.

I was newly baptized at that time and I of course, didn't have a clue as to the seriousness his dis fellowshipping I remember it very well. The talk among the witnesses were, you can get a really high up and still be dis fellowship no matter how high you are up in the organization and what a shame that he left Jehovah! I wish that all the information that I find today was available back then. It's very helpful, and as a former JW, I can verify that everything spoken against them (THE CULT) IS TRUE! I drifted away during the late 80s, because it wasn't feeling right about the religion I had chosen, the truth . It took me years to unravel not just the teachings, but the repressed and judgmental environment and culture of the religion. Thank you for your insight and intelligent and calm reason. 😊

One thing I've learned from having cats is they don't forget being denied some activity and you have to sleep sometime. Whatever he was trying to do will be done, you can't stop him. Such defiant little assholes. Perhaps that's why I have always preferred them.

First chapter of Ray Franz book I realised this guy is for real I have gotta see what he has to say he is so gentle in his writing just teaches you how to think for yourself and escape the wt prison.

I kinda agree with you but also, It would be like someone mentioning that pope Francis has been a really HUGE positive influence without also saying "Yeah I know, I know, his stance on women and sex abuse etc... is harmful and I am NOT going to sweep it all under the rug because he's had some great impact'." MOSTLY though, after the shit that Lloyd did to wally and Altworldy, and the really BIZARRE and public way he handled a disaster of his own making, I don't blame him for throwing some shade that way.

That isnt why he is vilified. He is vilified for habitually attacking and running other activists he disagrees with out of the community. He's vilified for trying to literally steal Raymond Franz's book to earn a profit off of it. Finally this latest scandal the bigger issue was that he claimed to be an advocate of sex abuse survivors while going to country that is overrun with sex abuse and exploitation and buying into a system that actively promotes it.
Let's not kid ourselves. Every single Christian faith out there is hocus pocus. I have not seen a single instance of a higher power and when you talk to someone who KNOWS there is a higher power describes it as a feeling of just knowing, not an ounce of proof. I grew up as a JW but left at 18 because I wanted to experience the world and enjoy my life. As I grew older, I became interested in the history of early Christianity. Recently, I have become interested in the history of The Bible Students and the schisms which have led us to the current JW organization. Thank you for the video highlighting, Raymond Franz. I am eager to read his book soon, but I wanted to say that I personally have no ill-will towards the people I have met in the organization. The majority of the people are kind and well-intentioned. They helped my family when we needed it and have always been friendly. When I go to my hometown, I stop by and visit some of these families to say hi to the older parents who were good to me. I don't pity them because of what they believe, in fact, I applaud them because it gives them hope for the future. Sure, are there issues of doctrine and belief but every Christian sect as well as other major religions have their flaws. Do we actually believe that some higher spirit gave Joseph Smith or Muhammed a divine vision of the holy word? The only truth there is is that we are born and we die. We have to live our life to the fullest while we have the time.
I felt just like Raymond Franz when it came to the policies and procedures of WT. I remember coming across him because I'm a big history buff, I like doing research on the organization and I ran into this information. I'm glad.
I remember when I was a kid, my dad (an elder) telling me with so much wonder and amazement in his voice, “you’re never gunna get old… you’re NEVER gunna get old”. It was like a light bulb moment for him and it seemed to totally blow his mind. He knew the doctrine of course but it was just a moment of realization to him. Well… I just turned 41. He’s turning 69 and my mother 70. His mom passed away a faithful JW at 88 in 2008. I was baptized at age 12 and left the organization when I was 17. Faded away which allows me to have some relationship with them. My dad was wrong about a few things. “One day you’ll be into sports”, “one day you’ll like girls” and “you’re never gunna get old”.

Great Video!!! You always make great videos Wally!!! I wish I could make a site like JWFacts what a lot of people do not know is that website was made by Paul Grundy and Loyd Evan's that is why it is biased about Watchtower and the Freemason connection and why it says they shouldn't be banned etc... I have no problem with Paul Grundy though he does still support and friends with Evan's after everything that happened. I just don't like the biased views after making all my videos proving the link with Freemasons people commented "Well JW facts says there is no connection" well yeah because that is what Evan's says. Everything Evan's says is the opinions on JW Facts (in fact Paul Grundy made a long video about the link with Watchtower and the Freemasons but then Evans made videos saying there was NO Link so then JW Facts said there was no link so you can see who kind of has the say there on the website) so that is the only problem I have with that website🥴😖 But other than that it does have some good info on it😊
I was 13 years old in 1975 and I have left a long comment before regarding the torment of mind that year caused in me waiting and thinking of nothing but what the would be Jehovah's slowest, most heinous, way to kill me at Armageddon (my parents always said how sinful we were) was. I think if I had had a weak heart then I would have died just from the stress, or maybe a stroke. But after 12/31/1975 passed and the world was the same, I breathed a huge sigh of relief! Many JW's left the religion after that we heard, though we lived in a small rural area so you couldn't leave unnoticed. In my adolescent mind I started to wonder if this was really the "truth" though the Armageddon death raid would haunt for a number of years into the future. I have Franz's book, it was free on public domain, and haven't finished it, but it is a great book and I recommend it as well.

I think Tony Morris may be the strongest apostate of all. He told his boys when they were young that Armageddon wasn't really coming anytime soon and not to worry about it.

Thank you for this! Very insightful. My wakening did involve a lot of Evan insights. I am totally aware of his wrongdoings. However, with your insight of his “lawsuits” you failed to mention that some of his vocal critics were/are defamatory. When he was exposed for wrongdoing, some ex-JWs claimed pedophilia, supposedly called police to check on his young daughters etc. He did wrong to his wife, maybe to his patreons, but he is vilified, wrongly, for the issues some crazies posted, hence, in my opinion, he is trying to sue. I respect you, and love your content.
The he is suing Kim Silvio and she absolutely made clear her issues with him have nothing to do with those "sexting" a teen claims. Only about what he himself admitted to. To the contrary he has defamed her as a liar all over the internet. He has shut down women by claiming they are 'crazy' for years. The welfare check was a bit ridiculous. It was for Dijana, over emotional abuse fears, and that's because of claims Dijana made to producer Bob and Kim about Lloyd's behaviour. Nothing to do with 'pedophilia'.

Good morning to everyine in this plartform, I am from SA and an ex JW, I went back home when the country locked down after years of not being home, my staunch beliver of a mother threw me out with an infant because my sisters were going to turn out like me, thats how I left home and stayed with reletives. Fast forward to now my sisters who are twins wanted to study and one got a university outside of the privince, my mother went crazy because they are not allowed to, so she did not help with preparations, ling story short my sister left regardless of the video they watched about how JW's feel about studying. The other twin did not get a school (they just turned 21 by the way) so she got a job at a call centre only last week, she has been depressed the whole year and mom forcing her to go and do field work. So she was told to get a place to stay because the Call Centre hours wont allow her to attend meetings and and and, my sister was crying like a kid but she did not care. Tuesday she locked her out and said she should go back to where she comes from, we asked a reletive to take her in, now she is in the reletives ear about keeping my sister. I dont have a job right now but I do have furnuture, I am also looking for a job so that we can find a place and move in together. If anyone can please help us so that she has bus fare money until she gets paid end of October, can they please help us. I have tried to make thiz story as short as possible. I am sorry to take over the channel and be off topic.

I've seen a few of your videos and this is by far the best one, the most intructive. Many of the others have been to bent on trying to get a laugh at the expense of the organization, which is ok the organization has certainly become laughable. The point is this video was truly instructive. I'm glad you left the comic relief to the cat...she certainly didn't like your attention to the camera and tried to take possession of it by bestowing her scent on it (a woman scorned). I remember it well. My father believed it was the end. He almost caused me to miss a year of Junior high because the end was coming. He was not a JW but believed the teachings of Herbert W Armstrong and the Worldwide Church of God. It was a combination of JW and SDA (if memory serves me). He even had A1975 for license plates for the car.
It's been going on more than 40 years. The book 30 Years a Watchtower Slave came out in 1956. I enjoyed it because it spelled out how the org came to be what it was when I was born in '63.
I left 20 years ago but was very conflicted about my decision. This book affirmed everything that I thought. I never looked back after reading this book in 2006
For sure it’s John Cedars. For the simple fact he part of the internet wave. Ray is all time legend because the book was amazing. But John made it easy to get access to info for the masses. JW FACTs is excellent but people don’t like reading all the time.
The greatest activist is hands down Ray Franz. He gave up a life of luxury and being catered to, so he could help spread what goes on behind the curtain. Most of us improved our life leaving, he down graded his.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Lloyd's. I've researched some of the "scandals" and I completely understand how other content creators would have a different experience from that of just the viewer. No judgement there, it's quite a different thing to have received a legal letter verses just reading about it all. Not really my problem. I don't think anyone can deny his passion for the cause. At the end of the day, he's just too informative, in my opinion, and I will not cut my nose off blah blah blah. I watch several ex-JW channels. Each one has a little something different to add and all of it creates a full account of the truth about the truth. Some of them aren't very helpful to me at all, so like anything, I guess we all gravitate to the flavor we most relate to. I am more intrigued than ever to read Franz' book now, after this video.

I’m guessing that a good fraction of ua having gone this route do the same thing: while questioning out faith, we loose faith, we become less active with the organization and the congregation, we blame ourselves, people become nervous because they don’t know what to say, we stop attending meetings, out of site out of mind, an announcement gets made, everyone feels safer and moves on.

I read Crisis of Conscience when it first came out as at 18 I rebelled at home & refused going to meetings anymore. I was so torn inside being raised as a Witness if I was doing the right thing. That book took a huge load off my shoulders, even convinced my dad how corrupt things were. There was a lot of talk going on then when Mr. Franz was shunned, too
I like how you did give Lloyd credit. I know he isn't always what some may consider a "good person," but there are other exJW's that dedicate their channels to Lloyd bashing, and granted I, myself would probably not care for him as a person, however, I have learned a lot from him and his channel and because of that I was able to leave the cult. We have all been abused or have trauma from the WT Society, the last thing we need is to attack each other. So thank you for being the bigger person Wally, much respect and love! Also, I hate how when someone leaves the WT Society the announcement made eludes to the idea that the person who left did something wrong, which just enforces the evil practice of disfellowshipping.

I watched many of Lloyd’s videos, which helped me to leave the org. But honestly, Wally’s channel further gave me the confidence why my decision to leave was personally right for me. Thank you, Wally.
Paul runs an excellent written website, Lloyd is a clinic in persuasive communication. Ray’s book changed my life for the better. Wally, you’re doing an awesome job, as is Jake, and I love Owen’s work too (Telltale). JT and Lady C are fantastic also. Barbara lived it and may be the most important woman in Watchtower leadership that men got credit for. She’s in a league of her own. Jim Penton is the Scholar. Olaf and the 607 /587 argument cannot be refuted honestly. I love Goatlike Personality and his goat farm in Scandinavia.

For those interested in exploring some voices from the Rutherfraud era and before, consider William Schnell’s 1957 book “Thirty Years a Watchtower Slave”. Mr. Schnell served in the traveling work and was part of the organization when the transition occurred from IBSA to JW in 1931.

I was newly baptized at that time and I of course, didn't have a clue as to the seriousness his dis fellowshipping I remember it very well. The talk among the witnesses were, you can get a really high up and still be dis fellowship no matter how high you are up in the organization and what a shame that he left Jehovah! I wish that all the information that I find today was available back then. It's very helpful, and as a former JW, I can verify that everything spoken against them (THE CULT) IS TRUE! I drifted away during the late 80s, because it wasn't feeling right about the religion I had chosen, the truth . It took me years to unravel not just the teachings, but the repressed and judgmental environment and culture of the religion. Thank you for your insight and intelligent and calm reason. 😊

One thing I've learned from having cats is they don't forget being denied some activity and you have to sleep sometime. Whatever he was trying to do will be done, you can't stop him. Such defiant little assholes. Perhaps that's why I have always preferred them.

I stumbled on watchtower wayback website wanting an old wt chart it had all the old pdfs read crisis of conscience and several others of the books you mentioned before ever looking on RUclips. First chapter of Ray Franz book I realised this guy is for real I have gotta see what he has to say he is so gentle in his writing just teaches you how to think for yourself and escape the wt prison.

MOSTLY though, after the shit that Lloyd did to wally and Altworldy, and the really BIZARRE and public way he handled a disaster of his own making, I don't blame him for throwing some shade that way.

Lloyd Evans has been excessively vilified. Some folk act that being unfaithful to one’s marriage vows has never been done before.
That isnt why he is vilified. He is vilified for habitually attacking and running other activists he disagrees with out of the community. He's vilified for trying to literally steal Raymond Franz's book to earn a profit off of it. Finally this latest scandal the bigger issue was that he claimed to be an advocate of sex abuse survivors while going to country that is overrun with sex abuse and exploitation and buying into a system that actively promotes it.
On top of all that he has refused to apologize for how he betrayed sex abuse survivors.

Let's not kid ourselves. Every single Christian faith out there is hocus pocus. I have not seen a single instance of a higher power and when you talk to someone who KNOWS there is a higher power describes it as a feeling of just knowing, not an ounce of proof. I grew up as a JW but left at 18 because I wanted to experience the world and enjoy my life. As I grew older, I became interested in the history of early Christianity. Recently, I have become interested in the history of The Bible Students and the schisms which have led us to the current JW organization. Thank you for the video highlighting, Raymond Franz. I am eager to read his book soon, but I wanted to say that I personally have no ill-will towards the people I have met in the organization. The majority of the people are kind and well-intentioned. They helped my family when we needed it and have always been friendly. When I go to my hometown, I stop by and visit some of these families to say hi to the older parents who were good to me. I don't pity them because of what they believe, in fact, I applaud them because it gives them hope for the future. Sure, are there issues of doctrine and belief but every Christian sect as well as other major religions have their flaws. Do we actually believe that some higher spirit gave Joseph Smith or Muhammed a divine vision of the holy word? The only truth there is is that we are born and we die. We have to live our life to the fullest while we have the time.
I felt just like Raymond Franz when it came to the policies and procedures of WT. I remember coming across him because I'm a big history buff, I like doing research on the organization and I ran into this information. I'm glad.

I remember when I was a kid, my dad (an elder) telling me with so much wonder and amazement in his voice, “you’re never gunna get old… you’re NEVER gunna get old”. It was like a light bulb moment for him and it seemed to totally blow his mind. He knew the doctrine of course but it was just a moment of realization to him. Well… I just turned 41. He’s turning 69 and my mother 70. His mom passed away a faithful JW at 88 in 2008. I was baptized at age 12 and left the organization when I was 17. Faded away which allows me to have some relationship with them. My dad was wrong about a few things. “One day you’ll be into sports”, “one day you’ll like girls” and “you’re never gunna get old”.

I wish I could make a site like JWFacts what a lot of people do not know is that website was made by Paul Grundy and Loyd Evan's that is why it is biased about Watchtower and the Freemason connection and why it says they shouldn't be banned etc... I have no problem with Paul Grundy though he does still support and friends with Evan's after everything that happened. I just don't like the biased views after making all my videos proving the link with Freemasons people commented "Well JW facts says there is no connection" well yeah because that is what Evan's says. Everything Evan's says is the opinions on JW Facts (in fact Paul Grundy made a long video about the link with Watchtower and the Freemasons but then Evans made videos saying there was NO Link so then JW Facts said there was no link so you can see who kind of has the say there on the website) so that is the only problem I have with that website🥴😖 But other than that it does have some good info on it😊

I completely agree about Lloyd Evans, he REALLY dropped the ball, he should be ashamed of himself.
I was 13 years old in 1975 and I have left a long comment before regarding the torment of mind that year caused in me waiting and thinking of nothing but what the would be Jehovah's slowest, most heinous, way to kill me at Armageddon (my parents always said how sinful we were) was. I think if I had had a weak heart then I would have died just from the stress, or maybe a stroke. But after 12/31/1975 passed and the world was the same, I breathed a huge sigh of relief! Many JW's left the religion after that we heard, though we lived in a small rural area so you couldn't leave unnoticed. In my adolescent mind I started to wonder if this was really the "truth" though the Armageddon death raid would haunt for a number of years into the future. I have Franz's book, it was free on public domain, and haven't finished it, but it is a great book and I recommend it as well.

Thank you for this! Very insightful. My wakening did involve a lot of Evan insights. I am totally aware of his wrongdoings. However, with your insight of his “lawsuits” you failed to mention that some of his vocal critics were/are defamatory. When he was exposed for wrongdoing, some ex-JWs claimed pedophilia, supposedly called police to check on his young daughters etc.
He did wrong to his wife, maybe to his patreons, but he is vilified, wrongly, for the issues some crazies posted, hence, in my opinion, he is trying to sue. I respect you, and love your content.

The he is suing Kim Silvio and she absolutely made clear her issues with him have nothing to do with those "sexting" a teen claims. Only about what he himself admitted to. To the contrary he has defamed her as a liar all over the internet. He has shut down women by claiming they are 'crazy' for years. The welfare check was a bit ridiculous. It was for Dijana, over emotional abuse fears, and that's because of claims Dijana made to producer Bob and Kim about Lloyd's behaviour. Nothing to do with 'pedophilia'.
I actually wanted to give a shout out to two channels that I also listen to which are really insightful for both exJWs and active JWs alike: Pete from xjw curious and Winston from Watchtower Examination. I highly recommend checking out their channels.

Good morning to everyine in this plartform, I am from SA and an ex JW, I went back home when the country locked down after years of not being home, my staunch beliver of a mother threw me out with an infant because my sisters were going to turn out like me, thats how I left home and stayed with reletives. Fast forward to now my sisters who are twins wanted to study and one got a university outside of the privince, my mother went crazy because they are not allowed to, so she did not help with preparations, ling story short my sister left regardless of the video they watched about how JW's feel about studying.
The other twin did not get a school (they just turned 21 by the way) so she got a job at a call centre only last week, she has been depressed the whole year and mom forcing her to go and do field work. So she was told to get a place to stay because the Call Centre hours wont allow her to attend meetings and and and, my sister was crying like a kid but she did not care. Tuesday she locked her out and said she should go back to where she comes from, we asked a reletive to take her in, now she is in the reletives ear about keeping my sister.
I dont have a job right now but I do have furnuture, I am also looking for a job so that we can find a place and move in together. If anyone can please help us so that she has bus fare money until she gets paid end of October, can they please help us. I have tried to make thiz story as short as possible.

I've seen a few of your videos and this is by far the best one, the most intructive. Many of the others have been to bent on trying to get a laugh at the expense of the organization, which is ok the organization has certainly become laughable. The point is this video was truly instructive. 1975. I remember it well. My father believed it was the end. He almost caused me to miss a year of Junior high because the end was coming. He was not a JW but believed the teachings of Herbert W Armstrong and the Worldwide Church of God. It was a combination of JW and SDA (if memory serves me). He even had A1975 for license plates for the car.

It's been going on more than 40 years. The book 30 Years a Watchtower Slave came out in 1956. I enjoyed it because it spelled out how the org came to be what it was when I was born in '63.
I left 20 years ago but was very conflicted about my decision. This book affirmed everything that I thought. I never looked back after reading this book in 2006

So that’s how I knew that jws were not the people of Jesus this not the truth. It was that simple for me. I was mistreated and so I left. Now I know I made the right choice. Personally, I'm a big fan of Lloyd's. I've researched some of the "scandals" and I completely understand how other content creators would have a different experience from that of just the viewer. No judgement there, it's quite a different thing to have received a legal letter verses just reading about it all. Not really my problem. I don't think anyone can deny his passion for the cause. At the end of the day, he's just too informative, in my opinion, and I will not cut my nose off blah blah blah. I watch several ex-JW channels. Each one has a little something different to add and all of it creates a full account of the truth about the truth. Some of them aren't very helpful to me at all, so like anything, I guess we all gravitate to the flavor we most relate to. I am more intrigued than ever to read Franz' book now, after this video.
I was quite troubled by the initial scandal. But when he quickly resorted to using the same tactics he decried when Watchtower used them on him, I was outta there!
