Honestly him copying her was not an act of inappropriateness. He saw that the rule 'you can sit like this and put your shoes on the couch' was already established and he wanted to adjust to it in order to feel more comfortable. Yes, he did not ask for permission but thats how introspective behaviour works. Why should he be excluded from this sitting position if she can? There is no reason, so there was no reason to ask. Believe me, he definitely thought about it beforehand and probably wouldn't have done it, if he felt it was inappropriate. Give INFPs minds some credit. There is a lot going on without having to express it all the time. Vocal communication isn't the only form of communication. Also what about his speech was awkward?? He is passionate and friendly at the same time. Thats amazing and wish more people were like that.
As INFPs, we take things more personally than others (we might consider what was said as criticism) so I can see how fellow INFPs could be overreacting
On the contrary for us, INFJs, we tand to take things impersonally as a criticism that everyone is succeptible to receive, thus we generally have measured reactions.
My crush is an INFP and i realized they dont really take criticism really well and usually lead to outburst of emotional conviction. Me an INFJ didnt even see it initially as bad but admired the pure passionate expression that is true to her self identity. This happened when i told her after getting comfortable conversing with her what i observed about her in the past which i said was a misjudgement since i have heard more from her perspective. No matter how many times i told her that i was wrong in that, that was before i have come to know her now, somehow she was stuck on her emotional conviction and was unyielding until she was satisfied. I just smiled and kept silent not because i made her angry but because i was happy i saw a raw honesty of emotion that cannot be faked. I know it is weird but INFJ enjoys witnessing truth in whatever form it may take, kinda weird tho but i know i responded appopriately because after she noticed my silence she really wanted to see a reaction out of me but i couldnt tell her what was on my mind she probably thought i was judging her negatively, lol.
That was really interesting. I have taken the 16 personalities test a few times and fluctuated between INFJ and INFP. I always wondered what that meant.
Perhaps find another person that knows you very well to help you take the test? I thought I was an INFP for the longest time until I took into account how I act at work and around my friends. Thats how I became solid in INFJ
Omg, I'm an INFP and I'm annoyed seeing all these INFPs oversensitive comments. We need to learn to take critism. Please. Or else we won't really learn much. This video really showcase Fi and Fe well. And if you studied what Fi and Fe is, you would know that this is in fact correct representation of it.
As an INFP, I can't help but feel frustration towards Mulligan due to the possibility that she wasn't sincere with her reassurance. 1) I'm not implying that she was trying to take advantage of Garfield, but this shows how those who are able to be fake can take advantage of others can get more ahead in the world by doing so. 2) It makes us INFPs feel inferior since we can be naive. What we say is usually honest and considered 'real'. We want to feel that others have that same sincerity but it's simply not true. I believe she was being sincere, but Mulligan could have told Garfield that she didn't think he talked for too long because she is on camera and wants to improve or maintain her reputation. We don't play the game that these people play for the sake of our self-interest. Unfortunately, that isn't always a good thing.
You're partially right but it's way less perverse than how much you think it is, so as a INFJ, I'm going to explain her intentions in this video. 1) She didn't seem to have reasons to take advantage of Garfield. It's totally true that we can fake and that we could take advantage of others by doing so. However, the way INFJ uses this ability is always centered around the objective of helping people before himself, because we think globaly first and foremost. One major problem we usually have is being too kind and forgetting ourselves. What you describe fits more the INTJ personality. So please don't fear us. 2) I personally don't think being naive is always a weakness because on the contrary, we are unable to be naive. We're always aware of everything that could happen and it tends to make us suspicious all the time and even lonelier sometimes. We can't trust easily. This is a value we appreciate. We have the philosophy that happiness is more important than sincerity. Here is why sometimes we use white lies because we love people and want them to progress, rather than lying for our sake. 3) Maybe she wasn't sincere but you have to ask yourself, is it really important at the end of the day? You're right, she could have said that by self-interest but as I said, knowing that the person is ok is her priority before her career. However, if he had asked to her to be honest with him about if she thinks he talked for too long, she would have told him sincerely because she would have understood that this was what he really wanted from her. There is almost never bad intentions involved behind that. So I wanted to clarify the fact that we don't play this game for the sake of our self-interest either, but for your interest. And I'm also agree that this isn't always a good thing to do so, because we should do it for us more often actually.
As an INFP with an Infj (possibly Enfj) mother and another Infj close friend I’ve realized that even if they aren’t always 100 % honest they are usually well meaning. It’s possible that she didn’t want to look bad on camera by saying that she thought he talked too long, but it’s just as likely that she didn’t want HIM to look bad or be embarrassed if she agreed with him. So it’s possible she wasn’t being sincere when she said he didn’t talk too long, but the desire to not hurt someone’s feelings and save them embarrassment was sincere. Or maybe she really meant it. Who knows.
I’m an INFP too, and I agree, I also feel like she missed the point when she reassured him by rephrasing what he said. I don’t like it when I explain things and people act like they get it, but they clearly don’t
If you don't mind some constructive feedback... I think the biggest problem with this video is that it has a lot of meaningful voice-over, but the visuals only rarely compliment it. Perhaps if it were condensed and more time was spent making connections between specific moments in the interviews, it might be more helpful to people? Very useful content though, and nice vocals. Most videos just talk about theory and never point to it in real life, which I believe is a key source of the misinformation and confusion out there; something I am trying to fight as well on my channel. Good work!
This video has an Fe bias: I disagree with Fe being universal and 'caring more for the feelings around them'. and Fi being only personal and 'only about their own feelings'. Fi is essentially more universal, as it doesnt change for situational circumstances. For example, Fi sees the equal worth of all human beings alike, and thus will treat a homeless person with the same level of respect as the Queen. All Fi types are bound by these base principles. Fi defines people not by their external persona or objective social status or group membership.. but by their common humanity underneath. Thus when they speak they are appealing to this common humanity in the people around them also. This is proven by correlating Fe and Fi with Te and Ti.. Ti is like mathematics. Its universal in everything that exists in the world. Mathematics explains most of the phenomenology that happens in the world from base principles and formulas. For example, Ti will study the structure of an engine and then apply all the principles of how that engine is constructed to every other kind of engine, big or small. In a toy car or a truck. Its a universal system of logic that is referenced across the board. Theres a formula there. This is the same as Fi. Fi doesnt keep a track of situational differences of appropriate behaviour, but references the human emotional experience as a whole... as if it were a universal story we all experience. Thus Garfields story is speaking to the part of every human being listening to him that feels the pain of being treated unjustly and being treated with less importance than someone else. He needs to express deeply in order to reach deeply into those listening to him in those same emotions.
Fe is social appropriateness, meaning if the social value is killing people, it is socially appropriate to also kill. Fi is internal authenticity and personal values, meaning if it is socially appropriate to kill but personally wrong, Fi will not kill.
