Time lapse: crane construction | Munich main station

The #2 main route at Munich Central Station is going ever higher, for conversion and new construction to become the largest transport hub in Europe.
One of the tallest tower cranes in Munich has been standing in the former transit hall since mid-October. The crane ensures improved construction site logistics for dismantling the roof above the cross platform while the station is still in operation.
Due to the limited space available, the tower crane had to be erected using a 700 t mobile crane and two additional mobile cranes. The mobile crane alone required 100 m of space and one day of assembly time.
Thanks to good planning, support from everyone involved in the project, top logistical performance and good weather, the tower crane was able to be erected in just 2.5 days.
